Not sure who gave this place a 5 star review, I’m guessing an owner/​employee.
For the past few months we have watched as the siding was replaced and repainted on two sides of this building, leaving the other two sides with old dingy paint and siding. This should have been a warning for us. Thinking it was actually a brand new restaurant and not the third creation by the same people, we decided to give it a try.
When we walk in, the place looks mostly the same on the inside, maybe got a fresh coat of paint? The place is empty, didn’t even see an employee. Closed? One person in our party peeks their head around the wall into the kitchen, where an employee tells us to sit wherever we would like. The first two tables have not been cleared off, maybe we missed the rush.
We sit down at a table that looks like it was recently repainted. The waiter brings us our waters and three stapled together menus for the four of us. Seeing it was the beginning of happy hour, we decided to order several of these for our appetizers. We go for nachos, steak bites and potato skins. Our group orders drinks, 3 sodas and a beer. The sodas are delivered to us as cans and glasses of ice, OK, tacky, but OK. Our appetizers are delivered shortly after, and are unimpressive looking. The potato skins are baked potatoes cut in half, hollowed out, cheese added, then microwaved. The nachos are ice cold and the steak bites are over cooked and chewy (but they were hot).
My beer arrives, and it tastes funny, I take two sips and decide not to continue drinking it. I am positive that their taps have not been (never been) cleaned.
The rest of meal arrives, and it is more of the same. Marginal quality and I still can’t get the bad beer taste out of my mouth.
We pay our bill, leaving half the food on the table (including a full beer), and nobody questions it.
I am sure that this place will end the same as Gin Sun and Celebrity’s Grill. You can’t just change the name, serve a different version of the same low quality food and expect things to change. For the same price you can go to Bumpers and enjoy your meal.
The only positive was none of us ended up sick.
