My wife and I visited the restaurant and the wait staff put ice tea behind my menu as I was studying to choose without letting me know, Once I brought the menu down it poured the ice tea over my wife’s new dress, we dry cleaned the dress and the stain was on the dress, I took the dress to the restaurant and the owner took it to clean it up which he could not however he refused to give me the new dress back and only gave me $ 40.00 for the $ 79.00 dress that I had a week old receipt for. Very bad experience my wife and I had. He was not apologetic and this is the wrong way to do business. I can never go back to the establishment and I do not suggest for anyone to visit this place.

Grew up eating Peruvian food as my nanny was Peruvian. Very familiar with authentic Peruvian food. Place doesn’t look too welcoming from the outside but it was recommended to us by a friend. Server was excellent, did not keep us waiting and was able to keep up with my high maintenance family. Ordered the Ceviche Mixto and Lomo Saltado and took a quick trip to heaven. My mouth is watering as I’m writing this review hahaha. Definitely recommended this place to anyone looking for authentic Peruvian food.

Despite my previous low rating, I was excited to come here today. It was nearby, and I thought they might have improved since its been about a year since my last visit. Wrong. The service was great, as usual. We ordered Leche de Tigre, Arroz Chaufa con Mariscos, and Bistec a la Limena, which came with a salad bar. The salad bar was good, a little small. Our leche de tigre. not so great. It had a really weird flavor and didn’t taste like ceviche at all. I had to add more salt and lime to get it to taste somewhat like leche de Tigre, but it didn’t work. At least it was only $ 4. My Bistec a la Limena was steak with fried egg, plantain and fries. I enjoyed everything except the steak, which was super bloody as pictured. I had asked for medium well. Medium well where I come from is hardly even pink, this steak that I ate half of was super red. It made me sick. The arroz con mariscos was pretty good though. I don’t think we’ll be back unfortunately.

We had lunch at Granja de Oro and it was an excellent experience. Food was outstanding! My wife had Ceviche and I had Papa Rellena as appetizer. Main course was Lomo Saltado and Saltado de Mariscos. Best of the best in Peruvian food. Don’t forget to ask for Chicha Morada a traditional Peruvian Drink. The waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and the atmosphere was great. Prices are good. Definitely recommend! Just amazing!

This place is by far my favorite Peruvian restaurant! If you’re looking for roasted Peruvian chicken, this is not your place, you should go to Pollo Rico or some fast place. This is authentic Peruvian food! I recommend 3 plates if you want to be wowed! I’ll start with the papa rellena, this is a potato mush wrapped around some time of beef. It is delicious. My next favorite is the fish ceviche, this is also an appetizer but can be served for an entrée, it comes with sweet potato and roasted corn. Drink the juice, it’s called leche de tigre. Now my first choice is the lomo saltado. It’s very tender beef sautéed in onions, tomatoes, cilantro and French fries an rice. Get this, you can thank me later. The service here is great, they are always attentive. They fill your water glass constantly and if you get an entrée, you get free salad bar. The salad bar is nothing fancy but if you’re not looking to spend on an appetizer it’s always nice to munch on while your wait for your food. They also provide complimentary bread/butter. The green sauce?!? You must try it on your food or on your bread. It is to die for, I’m not one to like spicy food but this sauce has the right amount of kick!

I’ve been coming here since it opened and it’s still one of my favorite Peruvian restaurants. I had my favorite«ceviche mixto» it was delicious not too spicy the way I like it. I also had another appetizer«causa rellena» another star dish. Everyone is really friendly especially Adrian who I’ve known for years. I recommend this restaurant!!!

Absolutely disgusting. After years of having a dear friend of mine tell me about this restaurant, I finally ventured out to this restaurant over the weekend. First and foremost, the staff seemed shocked that there was a black woman in this establishment. They all congregated near the front door and watched my wife and I walk by in utter dismay. TURNOFF! The menu is quite extensive here and luckily our waiter was patient with us while we looked over our options. I ordered the lomo salteño and my wife playing it SAFE ordered the ¼ chicken with yuca, platanos and beans. Off the break the yuca was returned because it was severely over cooked. They were so hard that you couldn’t even bite into the softness of the yuca(when done right). The beans were a few ingredients shy of having turkey neck in it almost tasting of soul food. And the chicken? How in the hell could you ever go wrong with Peruvian Chicken?! Onto my meal — the steak was extremely chewey and lacked in flavor considerably and the platanos? What a shame. They were TOO ripe and felt like mush when eaten. I couldn’t event touch the platanos after the first two. Pitiful. Straight pitiful. Being Latina, this place was actually offensive to my tastebuds and my heritage. I am SO glad I experienced this on my own, and not as a family dinner like we had planned in the near future. NEVEREVER will I recommend this place to anyone I know. What a disgrace Positive feedback: They yellow sauce for the yuca was really good. Maybe that’s the only thing they should be selling out of this restaurant –_– …

The absolute worst meal I have had in years. My wife and I just left this«restaurant» and it had to be one of the worst experiences I’ve had in a really long time. First and most importantly the staff there, when you walk in, greet you with the driest hello possible. It’s almost as if it hurts to say hello to your customers. Our actual waiter, whose name I don’t know, wasn’t that bad-at most he was sufficient. Now let’s talk about the real problem: the food. The menu had a lot of appetizing dishes that I’ve had before but for some reason I didn’t trust this place and now I completely understand why. I got the most simple dish possible: quarter chicken Peruvian style white meat, yucca frita, plantanos maduros & what was supposed to be habichuelas. Oh and lets not forget about the sad salad bar, which sadly was the nest part. The yucca which came on the plate was so overdone it was super crunchy. Had to send it back so I can have something edible. The fried plantains were either overcooked or raw and in no way drained of the oil it’s cooked and which leads me to believe the oil temperature is too high. And the sad sad roasted chicken… It had to be the worst flavor I’ve ever had for Peruvian chicken. Please save your money and DONOT come here!!!

This review is based on their food/prices. To begin, I think that their Prices are too high for the quality of their food(the place is located in falls church not sure why they charge so much). the place needs to be updated they have music on weekends which is good but they charge a cover even if you’re only there to eat dinner. The staff is nice, they’re very attentive and provide good service. I would advise people staying away from this place as the owner aren’t too friendly and money hungry. If this is your only option stick to basic Peruvian food such as lomo Saltado /jalea.

We went on a Saturday evening. It was a perfect night. The band was was great. The restaurant was clean. The food was fresh. We had the lomo saltado; the meat was tough but the flavor was good. The place is also a great value. An appetizer, entrée, 4 drinks &2 cover charges worked out to be $ 77. For dinner and dancing, you can’t beat that on a Saturday night.

We were warmly greeted and promptly seated, plenty of empty tables when we arrived for an early dinner at 4pm. Faux leather menus which were rather sticky to touch(whew). I had the churrasco ala cubana which is a 10oz new york steak topped with a sunny side and served with sides of rice and plantain. Tasted ok a bit too salty for my taste. I showed them my Unilocal 15% off for 1st time check in but the server was looking at me like I have an extra eye on my forehead. She later cleared in with someone else over the phone which was great.

I have been here once so far and enjoyed myself, so I am inclined to give it 4 stars. We ordered the Lomo Saltado, the mixed seafood ceviche, and the Papa Relleno. The lomo saltado was good, not fantastic. Same with the ceviche. But the papa relleno… wow, that was really good. Different and yum. The place has a nice atmosphere, «real Latin people,» nice waitresses. I see that they also have music on Friday and Saturday evenings, with a cover. And the music is all kinds of Latin music, like salsa, bachata, merengue, etc. I think this would be fun to go to. My best girl is into salsa, so might be good for a night out… Will be back…

Remember those old school Chinese restaurants in the ‘90s with the pink tablecloths, white napkins, and crystal water goblets? La Granja de Oro totally reminded me of this, only with a Peruvian feel. The atmosphere was warm and friendly with lots of smiles from all the waiters. Our table was flocked with a bright and colorful tapestry and we got hot bread, butter, and green sauce(oh the green sauce!!) immediately after ordering. They have a very basic salad bar that is free with every entrée so you can get your green on. It’s nothing exciting but you can definitely get your fill of iceberg lettuce, red onions, cucumbers, carrots, chick peas, green peppers and canned beets if you would like. The cold weather had me feeling quite lumberjack-ish so I went with the lomo saltado which was basically strips of beef sauteed in onions and french fries, and then covered in gravy, with some rice on the side. It was hearty and filling, perfect for a winter day. I liked it but not as much as my husband who convinced me to trade dishes with him about three bites into my meal. As others have mentioned the white rice here is very, very good. Is it butter? or garlic? Or witchcraft? I’m not quite sure but definitely worth that extra carbs. Overall a nice, casual family restaurant perfect for gatherings of hungry people.

Came here for a large birthday party. First, I have to say their managers are very accommodating and the booking process was super easy. I had to call in and change the size of the party several times, and since it was a surprise party, I made several requests, which the restaurants accommodated. The manager also let me know that they have live entertainment on the weekends after 10pm, which will cost $ 10 per person if we were to stay. We didn’t, but I would like to check it out one day. The food was also very good. It’s my first time there, but my friends gave its food very high praise. I’m giving it a four-star instead of five because my chicken was slightly on the dry side. They also ran out of chicken, and several of the guests had to choose something else. That being said, their beef dish was extremely… EXTREMELY yummy. I should say I’m quite blown away by their lomo saltado. Seasoned(and tender) beef with veggie and fries. I will never have enough of it. Our Server, Adriane, was also super wonderful. We had a large party, but he and other staff were friendly, available, and prompt. Great experience! Oh, only if it’s not located at the traffic-jammed Falls Church.

How I heard of this place: The Washington Post’s article«Top 40 Dishes Every Washingtonian Must Try». Type of cuisine: «In this restaurant, you will find the most extensive and varied selection of Peruvian food, which encompasses a wide variety of meat, fish, seafood and grilled chicken, along with a vast salad bar that is included with meals, and other delights. A chief requirement of a restaurant’s success is good food at the hands of those who prepare it; La Granja de Oro counts on the vast expertise of five master chefs of Peruvian cuisine.» Ambiance: «…exquisite and succulent taste of Peruvian food… A dining experience at la Granja de Oro, not only means rewarding your palette with exquisite specialties of the house, but also indulging in an ensemble of details that set this restaurant apart, such as a cozy and impeccable atmosphere, good service and reasonably priced menu.» As we made our way beyond the neon palm trees in front of the neighboring Lebanese restaurant, and parked in the La Granja lot, we we were welcomed with charming Peruvian folk music, bold colors and a grand, unassuming space. Windows on all sides(not including the hidden kitchen), looking out onto the parking lot, were nearly unnoticable against the colorfully striped, traditional Peruvian fabric lining each glass-topped table. We made our way through the small foyer, beyond the beautifully painted moutainside mural along the right wall, past the long bar, and into the large, Christmas-light lit room. Circular plaques lined the space immediately below the ceiling, throughout. Tiled floors allow for ease of clean-up at the end of a wild night of dancing and music in this über-family-friendly establishment. Groups of families and friends, even on a Tuesday night, flocked to La Granja de Oro, taking their seats near the instrument-laden stage, celebrating birthdays, family, friends and good food. Our little seating nook was perfect — a windowed escape, greenhouse-like, at the edge of the restaurant, separated by thick, wooden pillars and a matching half-wall. Television sets found around the space showed highlights from the London Olympics, as more patrons trickled through the doors to take their seats, ready to eat. What I ordered: After three months of attempts at making it to Falls Churck to sample La Granja de Oro’s Saltado, we finally made it, and I wasn’t about to peruse the extensive menu in search of something else. Delighted by the hand-written(in pencil and black ink) index card at the front of the menu, listing daily specials, I immediately knew I would choose the Pollo Soltado($ 15.95). In our mini dining group of four, we had two orders for the Pollo Soltado(fresh, boneless chicken sauteed in olive oil, red onions, tomatoes, French fries and served with rice), one for the Lomo Soltado(beef prepared the same way), and one Rotisserie Charcoal Broiled Half Chicken Dinner($ 8.95), served with fries. To start, we sampled a couple of the appetizers: Causa Rellena($ 6.95), spiced mashed potatoes rolled into a ball, stuffed with a chicken salad, served over lettuce with a side of vinegar-based(dressing) marinated red onion rings, tomato wedges and a halved hard-boiled egg; Palta a la Reina($ 6.95) for the same chicken salad piled high into a ripe, half avocado. Our meals each came with a dinner roll, to-die-for spicy green sauce and an all-you-can eat salad bar(with lettuce, cucumber, green bell pepper, cole slaw, blanched broccoli and cauliflower, shredded carrots, garbanzo beans, corn, beets, red onion rings, and three dresings: Thousand Island, Ranch, Blue Cheese). We ended, as we are apt to do, with a selection of desserts, including the Tiramisu($ 3.95), Arroz con Leche($ 2.25) — with a taste of Christmas time — and Alfajores($ 1.95) — a caramel stuffed shortbread sandwich. What I loved: The gooey fries in our Saltado! And the fresh, vibrant green peas. Why I loved it: The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, a break from the typical American chain establishment found aplenty in Arlington, the staff are sweet and friendly, the food delicious and the music charming. Cost: Low to average($ 8.95-$ 15.95 per dinner entrée)

Having been to Cusco, Peru about 3 years ago, I had a craving for Peruvian food recently. Not just the standard«Peruvian chicken,» mind you. I read about this place on Unilocal and was curious to try it for myself. I found this place without too much trouble from Annandale Road. The restaurant appeared clean and relatively spacious and had a small stage up front that was equipped with a drum set. However, every table except for two was vacant(my friend was at one of the two occupied tables waiting for me). After the other table of diners left, it was just my friend and I during the entire rest of our visit. Where was everyone else? I attributed it to the fact that it was a week night and the weather was pretty dreary and rainy out. Weren’t it for the dreary weather and the positive Unilocal reviews, I would’ve otherwise been more skeptical about eating at a place that was nearly completely empty during dinner hour. Thankfully, though the weather didn’t humor us, the food delivered. There were a lot of other tasty-sounding selections, but we both went for the lomo saltado. Very generous portion size and tasty. We also tried the tres leches cake, which was also not to sweet(which I appreciate) and appealing to the taste buds. As some other reviews mentioned, there’s also a small salad bar on one side of the restaurant. We were told that was included with our entrees. It had maybe about a dozen selections — lettuce, corn, etc., and three types of salad dressing. Nothing fancy. Overall, I really enjoyed my lomo saltado’s flavor and portion size, and I’d like to come back to sample other things on the menu. A larger assortment of things in the salad bar might be nice, but still, a good visit.

I loved my visit here. I came here on a date this past Saturday night. I had never had Peruvian food. I wanted to try something different so how appropriate to go to a Peruvian establishment with a native Peruvian man. I was in for a treat. La Granja de Oro is a mix of both a restaurant, bar, and entertainment with a band and a dance floor for salsa dancing. We utilized all of them. We started out with drinks called Pisco Sours. It is a type of Peruvian brandy with egg whites and bitters. Amazingly good and possibly my new favorite drink. If you haven’t had it, you need to try it! Next we moved on to dinner. He ordered for me and got me Lomo Saltado. I guess that is a very common dish since I see a lot of people in the other reviews write about it. To remind you, it is steak with onions, bell peppers, fried sweet potatoes in a soy based sauce. It is so wonderful and tasty. I had leftovers for two meals. I was thoroughly impressed. A meal that had my name all over it. Usually I hate peppers and onions, but I ate them anyway because it was so good! After a couple of drinks we headed out to the dance floor. The Rumba Kings were singing classic rumba and salsa songs where everyone was having a blast twirling and dancing around. I for one love salsa dancing and was glad to have had the chance to get back into it. It has been awhile since I had gotten the chance to do it. Service was great. She checked in on it and was really nice. She spoke to him in Spanish and talked to me in English. I had a fabulous time and am strongly considering having my birthday here.
