The Dipper is as neighborhood as they come and they have been a staple in the community for a long time, but for my money they do nothing overly well. You can get better ice cream. They are not open long hours. The sandwiches are just okay.

DOUBLE DIPPER CAFE is under NEW OWNERSHIP! And newly renovated! We’ve kept all your favorites and added a few new things. The fries have quickly become a new favorite. Our new desserts are a sweet treat! Stop by and see for yourself.

Great sandwiches, soups, chili, etc. with quality ingredients. Great quality and variety of ice cream — and toppings. I’ve never gotten anything here that wasn’t well-​made and fresh. I appreciate that being a family-​run place the attention to service comes to the forefront. I’m glad we have it nearby — and we need more places that aren’t chinese restaurants or pizza parlors.

Awesome sandwiches, best around. Always fresh and delicious. The ice cream is made on a regular basis by a very experienced chef, you can tell right away, it’s not your neighborhood dairy cream. You won’t be disappointed. The reason this is not a 5 star, is because the older lady there is super unfriendly and I tell myself I won’t go back, but I can’t stay away — its that good.

Good ice cream and sandwiches. Nice little Fanwood establishment. Service is good — family-​run business. It may not be the most up-​to-​date décor, but it’s not filthy, as some reviews suggest. I recommend the shakes and the cappuccino explosion ice cream!

My daughter likes to come here as the ice cream and frozen yogurt are exceptional. The service is on point and had a nice family feel to the place. We like to come here at least twice a month as I highly recommend to anyone in the scotch plains or fanwood area.

My wife and I get sandwiches and wraps from Double Dipper all the time. The quality is consistently great. Not a fan of their sides (slaw, pasta salad, etc.), they make all of them way too sweet.

My job has ordered from here several times. The order always comes wrong and the delivery takes an unbelievably long time. This place might be ok to go and eat, but do not order food to be delivered.

If you’re a sundae lover, this is place for you. If you also like soup, this is also the place for you. Shrimp chowder is the best of all the soups that are found here.
Brownie sundae is very addictive here and feel like I can never get enough of it! Waffle cones and waffle sundaes are good as well, known to be the «biggest desserts I’ll ever get».
I have been getting shrimp chowder lately from there (had the bowl size, if i ever chose the cup, that would be like a side for that!) Pretzels go well with the soup due to the fact of no bread on the side.
I will always be back for more after having had their ice cream for the past several years I’ve been there.

This is really the best ice cream shop in the area, truly a gem. This is a family run shop where the flavors are home made. They have a great selection of baked goods and sandwiches also. Many unique coffees and and teas.

Just moved to town, and so far I have been very happy with Double Dipper. The soups are fresh, the subs are tasty and overstuffed, and the service is very friendly! Can’t wait to hit this place up for shakes and ice cream in the summer.

The perfect lunch spot. Their sandwiches are made with fresh and delicious cold cuts and their grilled cheeses are exceptional. Throw in good ice cream and soups and it’s a perfect lunch. They also have good take home desserts and great service. I eat here about once a week.

Wow, why has no one written a review of this yet? I know it’s kind of in rural NJ, but this place offers not only fun things like ice cream and smoothies, but also delicious sandwiches and soups. It’s a quiet neighborhood place that looks perfect for reading or studying while grabbing a bite. My chicken noodle soup was some of the best I’ve had. It definitely had that homemade taste. My horseradish roast beef sandwich was also delicious with crunchy bread and fresh ingredients.
Check this place out if you’re in the area and you like joints like Panera or Cosi, but want a smaller-​town option.
