This library offers extremely poor customer service to African Americans. My friend and I went to study for our MCAT exam. We selected a corner in the library where no one else was around. We began eating our Wendy’s salad about 15 minutes into the salad one of the librarian came out of no where shouting, «You’re not allowed to eat in the library.» There were no signs posted and several white people were eating in the library including the librarian, but she did not say anything to them. We were told that we had to go outside to eat. Upon speaking to the librarian she gave several excuses for her behavior. She said, «I’m hard of hearing, so I speak loudly.» But when she speak to others she speaks in a normal volume. She also said, «Someone complained about your eating.» However, no one was in our area of the library. Then she said, «We don’t want anyone to feel unwelcome by putting a sign, and all libraries do not allow people to eat.» The librarian disagreed that she handled the situation in an unprofessional manner. So obviously my friend as I left in a professional manner.

Wonderful selection, and it is a great place to explore for hours. Also, if you live in Carrollton don’t worry about paying for a library card because it is free!

Great library that attracts everyone in the community. I love the running trail outside. Kids can come feed the ducks after checking out books. The summer reading program encourages children to continue reading and win prizes in the process.
