JDK Small Engine Repair

We gave my daughter and son in law our old lawnmower and it would not start. I used Unilocal to find jdk since we are in Illinois and they are in spanaway. Today my daughter let me know that the owner dropped everything to help them today when they came by today. It is great to know there are good people who do not take advantage of young military families.

For over thirty years, we’ve done business with John at JDK. We have purchased parts, he has sold our no-​longer-​needed equipment, and most recently, we purchased our second rebuilt lawnmower from John. We trust him so much that we purchased this latest lawnmower sight unseen over the phone, knowing that we can trust John explicitly. We now live in West Seattle yet drive to JDK every time we need to purchase equipment or parts or get service on our own equipment. John represents everything that is good and right about a small business owner.

Wow what awesome service! The two ladies that work the counter are friendly and courteous! John and the other mechanic (sorry didn’t get his name) are great too! I walked in thinking I’d have to come back later to get my machete and a mower blade sharpened. Less than 5 minutes later they were done! Also brought my weed whacker in to ask if I needed service on it cause it was stalling. The younger mechanic took it back and adjusted the setting on it came back in a couple minutes and it was running like a champ. I’ll be back here for all of my small motor and sharpening needs!

John at JDK has taken care of my stuff for years now. It’s the «go to» place for small engine repairs. Recently, my riding mower lost a wheel and on a very busy Saturday (for him) he had it attached and going in minutes! Do not hesitate to take your chain saws, mowers, edgers, or other small engine repairs there, this family owned business cares about their customers.

The best place in town to get any kind of small gas tool work done!!! I’ve taken my chainsaw chains and my lawn mower blades in for sharpening and they are always fast, affordable, in the neighborhood, and my cutting blades always come out sharper than new!

Every time I need a chainsaw or mower fixed I head straight to JDK. I am very thankful that there is still an honest, very knowledgable shop left like this. My last saw repair required a new piston and should have cost 250.00 but John only charged me 109.50. He made an excuse for the low price. Other mechanics make excuses for their high prices. JDK is a pleasure to do business with.

I took my brand new generator there to see if they could quiet it up because it sounded like a freight train. They actually took the time and effort to fabricate brackets, heat shield, mounts, etc. I couldn’t believe it. The price wasn’t just reasonable, for the work I got done it was great. I’ll take all my lawnmower and small engines there in the future. Much thanks from me and a customer for life.

I took my Sears blower to their repair facility at the Federal Way Commons Mall and was charged a $ 54.00 drop-​off fee. A week later, I was informed that the parts necessary for repair were unavailable. The clerk suggested that I try JDK Small Engine Repair. I drove to JDK’s location prepared to leave the equipment. The mechanic looked at the item, asked a couple of questions, tightened a few screws, lubricated the device and pow, it worked! He explained why it had previously ceased to run properly, advised me on what to do if the problem recurred, cleaned the blower and after refusing to accept my offer of money, sent me on my way.
I was very impressed by the technician’s expertise, the promptness of his service, his people skills, and of course, the unbeatable fee. The business felt like the personable neighborhood Mom/​Pop stores of yore. Although the location is a bit out of the way, I would hardily endorse and recommend this business!!!

This place is exactly what you’re looking for in a small engine repair shop — you don’t find ‘em like this anymore. They can do it all. They’re fair, honest, and capable. I brought my ever-​problematic McLane edger in to get fixed and tuned up. This thing has given me nothing but problems but I’m not in the mood to just throw it away as most would do these days. Short story: better than new. With a new throttle, blade, belt and tune-​up this tool now starts easier and runs better than when new.
It’s worth the drive.

Hard to believe all the 5 star ratings. I wasn’t that impressed with either their service or their prices. They came highly recommended by a family friend. Took a basic lawnmower in, they gave us a date a week later it would be ready — they said they would call when it was ready. No call, started calling them (no return call for several days). Finally got a hold of them and they said they had to order a part and it would be several more days… got a call 2 hours later from someone else who said it was ready (ok…). I could have bought a good used replacement on Craigslist for the cost of the repair.

This business has been around forever and there is a reason. They offer wonderful and honest service. We have been patronizing them for years and have always been very impressed with the quality of work performed. When we recently had to rent a U Haul, they extended themselves above and beyond what they had to do in order to help us.

EVERY time i have been to JDK, they always treat me right. My weedeater, chainsaw, and lawn mower all go here for all their tuneups. They do small stuff to improve the tools for free. My weedeater was missing a guard and they had an extra so he put it on for me. My chainsaw is soo old I should have junk heaped it a long time ago but they always get it running like new. I’m pretty sure Rina W. had an isolated incident. This does not sound like the same place. I dont care what anybody says, the customer is not always right.

Excellent, honest service!
Went to get a new mower blade they told me blade was in good shape, just needs to be sharpened, saved me the cost of a new blade.
Weedeater wouldn’t start, no diagnostic fee, no labor fee, just told me all it needed was a new spark plug.
Rather than overcharging for labor fees, diagnostic fees, etc, mechanics are only interested in fixing the problem.
Highly recommend JDK!!!

This is an excellent small engine business — their prices are fair and the staff in excellent. The owner of the business is very patient and is a very nice person. There is not a small engine place I can think of that can beat this place.
