Reliable, knowledgeable and experienced; look no further, Bell-Reeves is the local plumber that you want to call! We moved to Amelia Island from out of state and thought we’d be living the dream. We were until we went to take a shower after unpacking the first day and realized that we had no hot water. At best, the water was luke warm! It is now two months later, and for the first time there is hot water flowing through the master bathroom shower, all because of Bell-Reeves’ persistance and commitment to identifying and resolving the problem. The two month saga is long, but to summarize, here is what happened: No hot water in master bathroom shower or sinks, only from the bathtub faucet! After checking water faucets throughout the house, we found that this was the situation throughout. We contacted three local plumbers and a gas company(since we had a gas hot water heater) and even the builder of this now 14 year old house. We contacted the previous owners and were told that we could get hot water in the master bathroom sinks and eventually the shower, if we turned on the tub first and let it run, then turn the tub off and turn the cold water faucet on one of the sinks. I then started to contact local plumbers. It was quickly determined that the issue was not the hot water heater, but possibly the water pipes and/or blending of hot and cold water under the house. Bell-Reeves was THE only plumber who actually began troubleshooting the issue. Slowy and methodically a couple of walls were cut to identify pipes and see from where hot and cold water ran. Step by step more was revealed and not long after Bell-Reeves began, it was determined that the temperature valve in the master shower was preventing the hot water flow throughout the house. We were so thankful, as the ultimate solution would have been to re-pipe the entire house.

Bell-Reeves came out to see if I had power to appliances. It was literally a 5 minute job. They also checked a bathroom faucet and determined it was a water restriction valve in the design of the faucet. Finally, I asked them to correctly label my electrical fuse panel box because it was the original labeling since the house was built in the 1970’s. Instead of checking each fuse to appropriate label where it was located in the house, Richard Reeves copied down the 40 plus year old list and had it typed out at the office. When I went to the office to pick up the newly labeled electric fuse panel list, I just happened to look down and see«Garage– dryer». The problem with that is my dryer is no longer in the garage. That is how I know he just copied the old list. I was charged $ 35 for coming out and $ 260 for an hours worth of work that really should have been less than a half hour. I can only guess that they were standing outside laughing at how they were getting paid $ 260 an hour and sticking it to me I just happen to own a beach house. They did return $ 100 after getting caught coping the electrical fuse panel but even at $ 160 plus $ 35 = $ 195 that is a lot of money.

I agree with other reviewers here. If you need someone to show up when they say they will, need it fixed right the first time, and charge a fair price, these are your people.

These guys do a great job, on-time and at a fair price. Have used them twice now for properties on and off island and would use them again.

We had them out several times for both AC and electrical work, and they’re always courteous, prompt, and don’t gouge you when the bill comes. Our ancient AC unit finally died this week, after having to be worked on 3 times in the past few months. They explained to us last time that they could keep fixing it, but it would cost us more in the long run(which I knew was true). The first time they came out they said we would need a new one before too long, but they weren’t pushy about it in the least. They don’t have the attitude of some service companies, where you get the impression they’re looking for things to be wrong so they can hopefully scare you into getting something more expensive. All in all, I’m naturally suspicious of repair people, but I trust them and can recommend them without hesitation.
