Humboldt Sweets is a delight. The first time I tried their pecan roll I let out an involuntary moan of pleasure. Same with the ham and cheese scone with bacon gravy. If you’re in the area you must stop here. Bring cash, as they do not accept cards or checks. It’s worth an extra trip to the bank.

Don’t bother… these people are never open and do not even attempt to accurately state their hours. In the dozen times I have visited Ferndale, they were open once. On that one occasion, everything they offered was amazing and wonderful, but what good are they with zero dependability??? One time they were on vacation, another they were doing someone’s wedding(all week), and this week they arbitrarily closed for Thanksgiving week without even bothering to post the fact on the door(until later in the day). We waited at the door for over an hour this morning, and no one ever arrived. Bottom line, this is not a real business, rather it is someone’s hobby. This type of behavior brings down the entire region and is an affront to those of us who take our jobs seriously.

Dropped in for a treat during«Bargain Lovers» weekend. Everything looked sinfully delicious. I chose the bread pudding made from day old cinnamon pecan rolls and now I want more! It was the best bread pudding I have had since my granny was alive and baking. I will be going back whenever my sweet tooth needs to be saited.

I felt a little different walking into what looked like a home; however this is exactly how it was meant to be: A place that felt like home. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by two workers with smiles. I was brought here by a good friend who has grown to love this place, and since we were visiting we gave it a try. Although I’m not a big«sweets» person, this place hit the spot! The caramel pecan and cinnamon rolls were superb! Would definitely return again when we visit. If you haven’t tried Humboldt Sweets, don’t hesitate! You won’t regret it!

Best baked goods in a 30 mile radius! Wow. Unparalleled lemon bars, and the caramel cinnamon roll should really be illegal it is so big and delicious. Super friendly staff. Nice indoor and outdoor seating. Great place to meet for coffee. Obviously a local favorite.

Highly recommended! Small cute place in cute town where Guy Fiery grew up and visited this place on his show. The pecan cinnamon rolls were simply amazing!

Quaint family-owned bakery featured by Guy Fieri. Like most places in this area its a home converted into a store/bakery: mismatched tables and chairs inside. Everyone is very friendly. Featured on Fieri’s show was the lemon bars, and damn are they good even at $ 4. Also had the strawberry cake, which the GF really liked but I thought was just okay. At $ 7 it was a bit spendy. Definitely come for the lemon bar(s).

Diners drive ins & dives: guy Fieri’s hometown Ferndale. And featured for lemon bars.
Small Victorian style café with outdoor seating. Lots of tables. Self serve coffee. Grab a mug & grab some coffee. $ 4.00 fairly large piece of lemon bar, homemade of fresh lemons. Very good! And we tried the strawberry cake. Fresh strawberries & whip cream. Delightful! And pretty big: $ 7 a slice. So sinfully delicious.

Visiting Ferndale on a trip to the Avenue of the Giants. Came across great reviews for this place, so decided to drop by for an indulgence. The bakery is located in a little converted house and you can smell the baking from a block away! Our group split one of their amazing cinnamon rolls. This was divine! Freshly baked with the right balance of gooey icing and a light crisp on the outside of the dough. Huge portion — so good for splitting! Being a huge cupcake fan, we also purchased a cupcake to evaluate. We chose what I think was a lemon cake with a raspberry frosting. Unfortuantely, this wasn’t really my cup of tea, but it sure looked adorable :)

What a gem in Ferndale– not only are the baked goods fresh daily and homemade(and AMAZING), but the customer service is even good(find *that* in Humboldt– you heard me). Everything we ate here was amazing. Super recommend it and will go again.

Absolutely amazing! Get the pecan Carmel cinnamon roll! It’s $ 6 but so worth it! A little pricey but with that cinnamon roll I would pay more!

We stopped by on vacation. I had the sticky bun and it changed my life! My friends had the caramel banana cream tart and the peanut butter dream. They both said that they were amazing! If you happen to be driving through it’s worth the stop… it’s worth the trip if you are anywhere nearby!

My favorite place to go when coming back to Ferndale! Not only is the food delicious, but the customer service is above and beyond! We love the Peanut Butter Dream Bars!

This place is spectacular — people seem to come from all over the place, I’ve even seen people travel up from Ukiah to come here! The sticky buns are stupidly delicious, I don’t understand how something can taste so good. To be perfectly honest, I’ve never tasted something from here that wasn’t insanely delicious. Don’t even get me started on the chocolate cake — they have that frosting MASTERED. It does suck that there isn’t a restroom in the building though… such is life though.

You would think it would be a bold statement to say this place has the best cinnamon rolls on Earth but it’s true, the caramel pecan roll is the best in the world. The new location is adorable and very cozy and the family-run feeling makes you feel like you’re visiting your friend’s home(who is the best baker ever). The scones are so buttery and moist where most scones are dry and crumbly, but the caramel pecan roll cannot be missed!

Those pecan rolls… Warm, gooey, buttery, caramel-y manna from heaven… Ferndale’s hometown boy, Guy Fieri is not exaggerating when he boasts about their greatness! Same goes for the ham & cheese scones with gravy(essentially drop-biscuits and gravy for you more down-home folks). When you enter the bakery/café, you are greeted by a bakery case filled all sorts of culinary delights ranging from cookies & lemon bars to Cinnamon rolls and scones. Gorgeous cakes and savory quiches are displayed on the counter, and a refrigerated carousel-type case holds pies and cheesecake. This makes the only terrible thing about Humbolt Sweets attempting to decide on only enough items to fill one person’s belly. The super friendly employees are bustling around the kitchen while the owner is whipping up the next batch of lemon bars, cheesecake or sweet rolls. My friend and I decided we definitely wanted to try the items featured on D, D & D, but she has eyes bigger than our stomachs, so she picked out several other items to-go, as well. As I mentioned before, those pecan rolls are AMAZING! I don’t tend to choose bready raised baked goods over cookies, pies, quick breads and the like, but pecan rolls are one of my exceptions. I’m so glad I made an exception! They serve them warm and the gooey cinnamon goodness just melts in your mouth. I really felt like I was in the basement of my grandma’s church eating something baked by one of those little old ladies who’ve been baking since the 1930s. The ham & cheese scone was a perfect level of savory with their house-made cream gravy; my mouth waters just thinking about it. To go, my friend also got us some of their peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, a slice of peach cream cheese coffeecake, and these delicious sweet rolls made of cinnamon roll dough pieces, filled with cream cheese and topped with raspberry and boysenberry filling. It was almost like a hybrid of a Danish, a popover and monkeybread, and oh-so amazing. We actually ate those the next day, and they were still moist and tasty without being warmed up. The cookies were soft and delicious. Apparently the coffeecake was too, but I wasn’t quick enough to get any of it before it got eaten up — haha! We actually went back a couple days later and ordered another pecan roll and scone with gravy. My friend also got a slice of raspberry pie; the bite I had was tasty, but didn’t trump the roll. Her cousin got a snickerdoodle cupcake and devoured it with glee. Everything was as magnificent as our first visit. We would love to have to tried more items, but time and our stomach capacities just wouldn’t allow it! Next time… A few words of advice:(1) Make sure you bring cash, because they don’t do credit cards.(2) Use the restroom before you leave home because they don’t have one here. There are some public restrooms a block or two away on Main Street, but it would be a massive understatement to say they don’t exactly have the same cute charm as the rest of this Victorian town.

I was really surprised to come across a sweets shop, essentially located in the middle of nowhere, with creations that weren’t overly sweet. The subtleness of the sweetened pastries were reminiscent of Asian pastries, which I find to be perfectly lightly sweetened. I recommend ordering anything with cream cheese or whipped cream. They really know how to work magic with those two ingredients especially if there are fresh berries involved.
