Such a great shop in an amazing old building. If you don’t like coffee, come anyway to experience the bathroom. It is the coolest bathroom I’ve ever been in. Coffee is so good too! I love finding places that use organic coffee, and this place has organic milk too!

Cool coffeehouse with an inviting atmosphere. Comfortable chairs and tables, games and books on the shelves and a view of downtown Ferndale. Perch yourself on the bar with a view and order a cuppa the best coffee in town. It’s like the coffee you make for yourself at home. Pour over cone coffee made to order.

This is a beautiful space serving great lattes. The coffee has great aroma and taste, and can be enjoyed with a selection of fresh pastries. While sipping your latte, entertain yourself with browsing through a collection of New Yorker cartoons or reading one of the many cool books provided by the owners. The space is beautifully designed. The coffee shop is next to a workshop where the family who owns both spaces builds canoes and teaches others to build canoes. Can it get cooler than this?

Mind’s Eye is a unique café. It has a lovely sitting area and café with an artisans workshop in the back part of the store. The smell is a soothing blend of coffee and wood. Very inviting and cozy, adorned with art and treasures. I wished I had time to stay and relax, would be a great place to chat with a friend. My mocha was delicious. I’m from out of town, and I’ll look forward to visiting Mind’s Eye on future vacations.

When I first walked into Mind’s Eye, I kept wondering if this was Hobarts old space. The olive green and black carpet was gone, as was the somber vibe that was so prevalent in it. It was bright, cheery and held a lot of potential since it was slightly under-used. After browsing and finding much of the art to be of the same vein(singularly un-Hobart like) but fascinating nonetheless I left the space still thinking it was in it’s final incarnation, an under-used gallery like Red Eye down the way. But no. They are in fact, mid renovation for a studio and gallery, one in which a salvaged stove from a past Ferndale citizen will warm those who wish to sit in the reading area by the fire. They’ll offer classes featuring numerous Ferndale artists(and let me tell you, there are many) and artists from the surrounding areas as well as a peek into how they work through window’s into the studio which will also house a smithy. I am quite excited to see the shop’s final look and the new work that will grace it’s walls. I just wish this had been around when I was a kid.
