This is the bar that come closest to the real-life wild party that is represented in Coors commercials. Need I say more?

If I am going to get a hamburger in Ferndale, this is where I will go. I like this place better for eating rather than a place to hang out. They do have a pool table here.

Post Bar Ferndale: you rule. $ 1 domestic bottles all day Wednesday? $ 1 Sliders too? Good drink specials all week? Yeah, you know what you’re doing. Ferndale is crowded with bars that will do game day specials, Sunday specials(I’m looking at you WAB), no specials(Dino’s, I love you but you’re guilty. at least on Wednesday and Friday), etc. But few bars handle it like you do. The Post is a normal sports bar affair on weekdays. Cheap beer, sports is always on, big bar, few tables, pool table, little cute outdoor patio, etc. It can’t be beaten by anything on Wednesday(if you can stomach domestics), as its $ 1 domestics. $ 1 sliders too. Get a basket of fries and you’ve knocked $ 2 off the price of whats on the menu. They have drink specials basically every day they are open, so its worth a visit. Its one of the better places to go for a game, a great place if you can get a table or booth, decent if you’re stuck at the bar. However, your lost star comes from Friday/Saturdays when you turn into some bump and grind club affair? I thought that was your Novi location, but apparently you caught that disease too. Tsk tsk. Overall, the Post is fantastic. On weekdays. If you can stand $ 5 cover and typical bump’n’grind stuff, then weekends are cool. You have been warned, so drink/eat accordingly.

Best place to bring a huge group for nights of drinking in Ferndale. Usually have decent specials. Sometimes their beers(Oberon) taste a little off. I’ve only eaten a few of the appetizers there and they were pretty good. Deep fried ravioli were the best of the bunch.

The Post Bar is a pretty good place to either start or end your night out, but it wouldn’t be my main destination of choice. I’d say it’s a fairly typical bar, but with good specials and pretty decent general prices. A Tanqueray or Bombay martini was inexpensive(8 bucks or so), a generous portion and quite strong(wasn’t watered down at all). Plus, Guinness on tap! Which is all perfectly fine if you’re just going out for a few drinks. If you’re looking for something like, say, a more intimate and/or sophisticated ambiance, single malt scotches(who needs a large selection, all I want is Macallan 12), or an environment which encourages social interaction(this didn’t feel like it to me, but might to others), then add another destination to your itinerary.

If you like The Post Bar in say– Auburn Hills… you may not like this Post. That is because THIS Post is so much better. It is smaller, yes– but you will not be sorry you stopped in. There is a dance floor area in the front, two large booths, a number of small high tops near the bar and ample bar seating. There is also a back room with pool tables and the like. There is also outdoor seating. The place is small — but I like it that way. The Post is down-to-earth– with an unpretentious crowd, unpretentious menu, and DEFINITELY unpretentious prices. The drink and food specials as this place are unreal. Half off food nights– Dollar Boomba nights — $ 2 margarita nights. The crowd is mixed– so is the number of people. There are times that I have walked in and been the only person– there are times I have had to fight for space to order a drink. There is one bartender whose name I can’t remember. He is great. He makes me happy. The Post in Ferndale makes me happy. Go there –it’s fantastic. Lots of entertaining graffiti in the bathroom.

I partied here with a big group of my friends on Halloween, Saturday night this year, and was pleasantly impressed. It’s a great crowd of pretty cool people — it seems that more and more people that want something different and more down to earth than Royal Oak are going the extra 2 miles to 9 mile, Ferndale! The bartenders were friendly and laid-back, the clientele was mostly suburbanite, friendly, and some hipsters. It’s a down-to-earth kind of place — not prententious or anything. It’s got everything you’d want in a Friday-Saturday hang out — 1. A good bar with decent prices and friendly bartenders, and a couple TVs in case there’s a Detroit team stinkin’ it up 2.) a game room with a couple of arcades and pool tables off to the side, 3.) a moderate sized dance floor with a good DJ and a «catwalk» for if you’re hot and wanna show your moves to the whole crowd, and 4.) a few booths that do not require«VIP» status to rest your rump. This place observed the«Fall Back» Daylight Savings Time on Saturday night and gave patrons the extra hour to party and buy drinks, while nearby bars didn’t. So that was definitely a plus too. I think this is a great place to enjoy a night when you want a nice semi-clubby, hometown sports-bar & game room type venue, and would like to have fun without having to get all dressed up. I would go back. Keep it mind, it’s a medium-small location, which makes for a more intimate experience in my opinion.

I came here quite a long time ago, right after the Ferndale location had just opened, and while being a VERY festive place to watch the Red Wings, it did seem kind of like a cheesy pickup joint. My friends cautioned me many times not to leave any drink unattended and to keep a thumb over my beer bottle at all times — it was sorta that kinda place back then. But I was willing to see if they’d changed at all in the last decade or so(haha, who hasn’t?) and they HAVE! We were fleeing the high prices at Howe’s and saw a sign out front for $ 1 beers — that can’t be true, can it? Yup, domestic drafts on Wed only $ 1 each. Everything except Budweiser products, which we overheard was because of a «fight»?? I suspect the distributor pissed off somebody in management! Anyway, we enjoyed our«domestic» Labatt Blue Lights all night long for only $ 1 each. Yes, Canadian beer considered domestic — try THAT in Florida, people. At any rate, we stayed for the entire Tiger game and wound up with a bar tab of about $ 11 which is unreal. By the end of the game, the bar was getting pretty full and very loud, but it was a real cast of different characters — not at all the meat market I’d remembered it to be. Speaking of meat, we didn’t get any food but the sliders they were serving to everyone else looked awesome. I saw someone eating cheese fries too and I nearly tackled them. We’re definitely going back to watch more games, and next time ordering some food!

Normally when I see that little Elephant logo, I shudder. I think of really loud girls wearing next to nothing draping themselves over the bar to get the bartenders attention to order their vodka and tonic or kamikaze shot. You can imagine my surprise when my friends told me we were going to the Post. Really? I thought.(kind of like a «her?» comment from Arrested Development). Newsflash. You will be totally safe from«that guy» on Thursdays at the post. They have awesome specials($ 2 margs, corona and tall Coors Light) and specials on Nachos(I recommend the chicken ones) and Quesadillas. Great outdoor patio in the back– but be prepared to get chummy with other patrons because it’s mostly picnic style back there. Also. the deal maker in my book. they have a megatouch machine with Word Dojo on it. I actually went up to a guy last night that was playing some other game and asked him if he wanted to play Dojo instead. He obliged and was an excellent Dojo player. Dan, if you are out there. good work son.

There seem to be a lot of hipster regulars on Thursdays. My drink was a little watery, but the dancing was really fun. A mix of a lot of music that I never listen to, but which is really danceable. I would return.
