Great coffee and tea. Amazing service. We will return. Staff was super friendly. Lots of options for special diets, I.e. Vegan and gluten free. Baked goods were fresh and fabulous. Had a vegan brownie.

This place has such character! Cute and simple décor with lots of plants. Friendly employees. Great coffee/tea and a HUGE pastry selection. There are many vegan options, but unfortunately, the only gluten free option I saw were the macarons. I didn’t try these on my visit, but next time I definitely will. The music and chatter does get a bit loud, so it’s not ideal if you want peace and quiet to work/study. There’s about eight small tables and a little countertop that can seat two people. I went on a Sunday morning/afternoon, and it was very busy. There was a constant line at the register, and all the tables were full. If you go in the winter, make sure you don’t sit by the door! Or dress very warmly. They don’t have a double door entryway, so whenever people enter/exit(which was basically every minute since it was very busy), you get blasted with cold air. There’s also lots of other interesting shops/restaurants in the area. I went across the street to a health/nutrition grocery store and also to Drought to grab some juices.

I walked and drove right past this place way too many times. It’s quite small, so unless you’re looking for it you might not notice it. That being said, the inside is quaint, has some seating, and service seems to be pretty fast. When I met a friend there the line was out the door, but the line moved quickly and the staff was very friendly. We ordered 2 lattes and a savory hand pie. The lattes were rich and creamy with just the right amount of espresso flavor, and the pie made me want to lick the plate. They have coffee bags to go as well as a very nice variety of baked goods that they will warm up for you on request. Furthermore, for the month of January they have paired up with Drough juice and if you bring in your cup from Red Hook on the same day Drought will give you $ 2 off. I definitely need to go here more often!

Serves Stumptown coffee. They were using Hairbender by Stumptown for the espresso blend, which generally is not my favorite. The barista I had loves coffee and knows how to pull a shot correctly, which made the Cortado taste as good as the hairbender espresso blend can get. The Red Hook and Pinwheel bakery share the same space, which makes for delicious pastry options. I tried the egg, potato and basil inside a tasty butter flaky croissant type thing. This wasn’t amazing, but good. Not too much seating here, but that makes it cozy. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You should stop by.

Came here only because my friend’s husband is apparently a total coffee snob and will only go to the best spots — and apparently this is one of them. I would’ve been perfectly content to get my usual holiday selection from a local Starbucks, but I’m glad I checked this place out. My chai tea(which I got with 2% milk; whole milk is the default) was decent, but the vegan peanut butter chocolate chip bar was delicious! Super impressive, since vegan stuff — and vegan desserts in particular — are pretty hit and miss, in my opinion. We were there around 3−4PM on a weekday, and the place had pretty much a nonstop long line the entire time. Not much seating — and the chairs aren’t the most comfortable — but I’d come back.

Come for: amazing oatmeal cream pie + great coffee. However if you’re looking for a coffee shop to work and can’t get a seat/outlet try Java Hutt across the street– more space, open longer hours, but meh coffee.

This coffee shop is as cozy as they come. I spent an afternoon here recently, chillin with a good friend and we just loved the vibe. The drinks were well made, and reasonably priced. The oatmeal cream pies were delicious. The baristas were kind and welcoming — no snobbery here. I’m from NYC, and very sad I can not come to this coffee shop more often.

The baked goods? Yum. The coffee? So good. I am a huge fan of the tea cakes(every kind!), and the iced coffee(if you close your eyes and take a sip, it’s like liquid dark chocolate), and the atmosphere is wonderful. Most of the staff here is very reasonable, attentive, and friendly. I come in a few times a week, and they always remember me, often even remembering what I usually like to order. This type of friendly, personalized service is exactly the type of thing that makes people keep coming back for more. I have one complaint. I know that they have specialized coffee, and very knowledgeable baristas. This is great. Here’s what I don’t like; when somebody asks a question about your coffee, don’t being a condescending know it all, try making your products more approachable for your guests instead of making them feel stupid for being curious about the products that you offer. My roommate and I went in for coffee a few weeks ago, and when she asked a simple question about the difference between two brewing techniques, she was met with snobby attitude from the sandy haired hipster dude behind the counter. It’s great that you know your stuff man, but why not try sharing your knowledge in a friendly and enthusiastic way next time? I would never let one weird experience ruin my opinion of this business. They have wonderful, high quality products, and a beautifully executed area to lounge in. Their staff tends to be very friendly, but rude customer service pisses me off.

I am such a huge fan of this place. That is why it absolutely kills me that the hours are so conflicting with my work schedule. Every time that I do get to stop in, I’m always greeted with a new array of baked treats that never disappoint. From the macarons to the whoopie pies, to the cookies, they’re always blowing me away. I’m not sure what extra ingredient they’re slipping in there, but whatever it is, it has me drooling all over my keyboard just thinking about it.

Stopped in this morning, I was hoping to find a nice place to study while on break in between jobs and I’m so glad I did! Super friendly staff who took my order and whipped up my cappuccino quickly. The baked goods in the display case looked amazing but I was determined to focus on studying. Long story short their cappuccino was perfect, I studied for 2.5 hours in a front window nook and then ordered a cup of tea and 3 shortbread cookies. The cookies were amazing, I had chocolate chip, a pecan and the third flavor I can’t remember but they were perfectly buttery and delicious! I’ve never been a fan of the whole study at a coffee house thing BUT I am more than happy to return for another study session!

The coffee is strong and the pastries are good. I really enjoy the blueberry muffins. They have plump, sweet blueberries and are moist goodness! :) The shop is cool inside — with a many places to sit and chat. It’s very inviting and welcoming to any visitors.

Best coffee in town, hands down. Friendliest staff, who are also good at what they do, and consistently do it right. Customer service is excellent, product is impeccable. I love the pour-overs and the cortado, and the affogato(espresso over vanilla ice cream) is more like«ohmygoddo». DOIT. Yes, it’s got a tiny seating area. Yes, it gets loud. Yep, there are a bunch of laptop folks who often sit for hours, and some of ‘em are kinda dicks about taking up tons of space and throwing their backpacks on all available chairs. So, don’t plan on lingering, but if you do get a seat, the people-watching can be excellent. I love this place. .

If you’re anything like me, and I know you are, you like a good cup of coffee in a quaint little shop with little plants hanging whimsically all around you. You also like very homemade little trinket foods that you can eat with your coffee. This is why you, and I, both love, or will love this place. Also, if you’re into semiprecious metals, take a look at the copper countertop. It’s stupendous.

Coffee was great! They serve Stumptown, so you know you’re getting the good stuff. I tried one of the single origin beans as a pourover and was very pleased. They share space with a bakery, and had a large selection of treats available, but I didn’t try any this trip. They looked delicious though! I didn’t see any sandwiches or more substantial food offered, so this isn’t a place for a meal. Décor is cute, pretty typical of a lot of independently owned, urban coffee shops. Employees seemed friendly enough, though we didn’t really have much of an interaction, so I don’t know how knowledgeable or helpful they are if you have questions about the coffee. The space is small so seating is limited, and there were no options for more than 2 people to be seated at any table. Tables could be moved together, but there was at least one person at every table, so it’s just not great if you want to gather as a group. We were there mid-morning on a Monday, and I would be curious to see what it’s like during a busier time of day.

The only setback is the lack of hours and space. This place has great décor, a phenomenal baked goods section to accommodate any diet, and wonderfully strong coffee, authentic, rich. Being here transports you, makes you slow down just a bit, and appreciate what you’re enjoying right then and there. Lovely.

If you need a great cup of coffee and a pastry to go, this is absolutely your place. The coffee is carefully brewed for quality, the small selection of specialty drinks are made well, and the iced tea is refreshing and tasty. The pastries are incredibly good and seem to be fresh-made, with a wide and seasonal selection. I’ve had savory pastries, English puddings, brownies, cookies, and macarons, and they’re all great. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always on their A game. If you have questions or a special request, they’re very willing to engage. Unfortunately, the space is small and crowded. I frequently feel like I’m in peoples’ way when I’m just standing in line or trying to put sugar in my coffee, and I definitely find it hard to sit down and relax with a cup or a cookie. It’s also frustrating that they close so early.

Came to have a chat date with a friend and almost walked past it because the sign is pretty small! Ordered a cold chai with a vegan lemon sugar cookie while my friend ordered a(?) cookie and an iced chamomile tea. The coffee shop is small but very cute and a pretty nice to place to meet up with someone if you score seating. Loved being able to chill here for two hours and I believe wifi is free. The desserts look pretty tempting but I’m glad I stuck with just one cookie! It was enough sugar to last me for a while!

When I lived in Ferndale, this was my Saturday morning ritual(after Steven B’s Barber Shop when my hair needed some fixin’). It’s very cozy, a place to enjoy the local comfort. Most of the patrons who stop by make it their morning routine and acquaint themselves with the staff behind the counter. I understand people want to grab their coffee and run, but I think this place provide a sense of community. Over the last couple of years, ownership has changed the layout of the place by placing more tables for people to sit. They’ve definitely made it ‘seating friendly’. A line might form at the counter, but that’s to be expected in a little place like The Red Hook; but take a moment when you walk into this establish, feel the heart and soul that have fueled the business — god I’m sounding like a total hippie — it’s a good feeling they’re still around given the other competition around town. I love Stumptown Coffee. The first time I had it was when I lived in Seattle. A distant memory I can visit every time I sip their coffee.

I’ve been to both the Red Hook in Ferndale as well as the Detroit one. I prefer the Detroit one as it’s a bit bigger and more open. The baristas are also much friendlier. Some may consider it a bit pricey for coffee but you can definitely tell that the quality is top notch. Its not at all bitter tasting like Starbucks, which is about the same, price wise. I know the one in Ferndale has free wi-fi so I’m sure the one in Detroit does too. Both have delicious looking pasteries. I seriously want to try everything. They have brownies, biscuits, muffins and the best looking donuts and you can tell they are made fresh daily. Bonus: they make your coffee with a pretty flower design. They also have an almond milk option which is great for all you lactose peeps.

The price is average, coffee is above average depending on what you get. All of it is good, though! The mocha is yummy. They make little designs in the foam for a unique experience. The service is very nice. Everyone is so friendly! I also enjoy the environment. The décor is approachable without being pretentious. They even have a small area near the back of the store with toys for the children.
