Awesome burritos! Great sauce selection! Cheaper and just as fresh as Chipotle! I don’t know why they have a couple stars. 5 stars!

When Hot Heads opened in Findlay I ate there at least once a week for several months. I enjoyed it at first but quickly realized the I wasn’t looking forward to eating there anymore. It seemed to me their rice was a bit soggy from time to time from being cooked and packaged earlier in the day, and to me good rice is the key to a good burrito bowl. When it comes down to comparing Chipotle and Hot Heads it really comes down to your personal preference. While I’ll choose Chipotle 99 times out of 100 there is still that one time I want a really REALLY spicy burrito bowl or a Hawaiian bowl or some other strange sauce on a burrito. If you like Chipotle and have an open mind about trying new flavors, I would give it a few tries. I say a few because it would be unfair to judge a place on one singe visit and one single item on their menu. Plus they have a variety of sauces to choose from.

If you’re looking at Hot Head, it is likely you are comparing this to Chipotle. Well, spoiler alert: the latter wins. When walking in the restaurant, I was greeted initially by the employee working. Chalk this up to friendly service, or the fact that there was only one other customer in the restaurant. Not exactly the line reaching to the door often found at the other quick-service Mexican restaurant to the east. In any regard, the employee continued to be friendly throughout the entire process. Although I am familiar with the burrito assembly process, I was a little perplexed when it came to the sauces. The employee was knowledgeable about the sauces and spices and how these mixed with my order. All in all, I would rate the customer service highly; except for the fact that the lady kept calling me «hon». News flash to all the customer service workers: calling a stranger ‘hon’ is not endearing. It’s just plain creepy. In any regard, I was out of the restaurant in record time(remember: only one other guest) and off to enjoy the bowl created for me. I went with the veggie bowl since you get the guac for free, and I wanted to see how Hot Head’s guacamole stacked up with the forerunner, Chipotle. Overall, I was disappointed with the bowl. The rice was overcooked and had absolutely no flavor(but plenty of chew); the guacamole was no contender for Chipotle guac; and worst of all the lettuce topping my bowl was iceberg shreds. Seriously? I could run to Kroger and break open a package of Suddenly Salad iceberg specialty and have the same result? Again, at the expense of sounding like a broken record, this was nothing to the crisp, fresh Romaine I’m used to having on my bowls. If it’s not transparent already, I am not too hot about Hot Head. In the future, I will not forsake my true love found to the east on Tiffin Ave. Sure, I may have to wait in a longer line for my food; but, I know it is superior quality and I won’t have to stand being called«hon».

I wish Hot Head was in Michigan. I ate there during a day trip to Ohio. I thought the addition of multiple flavored sauces to the«California burrito concept» type restaurant was genius. It really sets them apart from the rest. Hot Head was still doing it right with all handmade food cooked right in front of you. The chips were good too. I would like to see a sampling of Mexican beers added to the beverage menu!

The food here is pretty great. It to me, is a subway of Mexican food. There’s staff behind a line that makes your food in front of you, with you picking the toppings. The staff is all pretty down to earth, friendly, and helpful. It’s always been a very clean environment, every time I’ve been in there(6+ times). It’s definitely a go-to place to get a good, quick, take-out lunch that isn’t your normal fast food, like McDonalds or BK. I really feel it’s worth the money(:

Went to Hot Head for the first time tonight. I was not impressed. Staff was not helpful and the tables were dirty. Will not be returning and will head down to street for my Mexican food.

I’ve been to this place a few times, and don’t consider it any better or worse than Chipotle. It has a color scheme similar to Five Guys, but definitely was meant to be an alternative to the Colorado burrito maker. They are, however, located in a strip mall cursed with mercurial Tiffin Avenue traffic. If you’re not going east bound, you run the risk of dodging uncooperative motorists. While the idea of customization can be fun and exciting to people, there always seems to be that tipping point where you want to say, «just make it already.» The staff is usually good at guiding you through all of the nuances of the restaurant though. I usually pick up the quesadilla. They seal it up in a pentagonal shape and sear it. The jalapeño/barbacoa is quite enjoyable, all things considered. We’re still talking about a fast food joint here, after all. I usually reserve this restaurant for the evenings, when traffic is lighter. It serves as a decent option in the restaurant rotation. I’ll be back.

I gave this place the ol «college try» a few times. I got different things both time and it was just meh. the steak was rubbery. chicken was bland. in fact, everything was just bland and meh. they say they are just as good as chipotle, but i disagree. Not as fresh at all. However, some people really love this place. It is clean and the service is ok. If you really love having a variety of sauce and dont focus much on the meat or fresh salsa, you might like this place. i really do not.

I decided to try it again after a bad service experience. This time there were 5 people working, 4 in the back and one to serve the customers. When I say 1, she made the food and cashed you out too. as the manager was in the back laughing with the three other people in the back. After my second visit I realize that there isn’t going to be urgency in this place. Poorly managed in both visits, and the customers seem secondary. Which is apparent as I waited for the one other person in line order and cash out. 8 minutes later it was my turn as the 4 other employees were having a good time in the back. My last visit will be today, because of 1 thing… the service.

If you’re a fan of Chipotle you might be disappointed. The premise is the same as Chipotle. The resturant being new to the area and being a fan of Chipotle I thought we’d try this. However, after finishing the meal, my wife and I decided that we preferred Chipotle. In fact, I’d rather eat at Taco Bell. However, if you do decide to eat here, the shop is clean, well lit, with lots of seating and the wait staff were all very friendly.
