My husband had a very strange experience at Reno’s. He went to Reno’s looking for a high-​end guitar and a specialty capo and was told they keep their higher end stock out of sight, so you have to browse online then tell them specifically which guitar you want to see. They did bring him a guitar to look at, a $ 4000 Martin, which was nice but not the kind of high-​end instrument he was looking for. They would not allow him to play the instrument with a pick, and told him to empty his pockets before playing, concerned that his phone in its case would somehow dent the wood through his pocket. None of this is normal for a music store. We used to live near Austin, TX and the high-​end guitars were on display to browse (though usually behind glass), and could be played with a pick and without emptying pockets. My husband has been to hundreds of music stores and never had such an uncomfortable and non-​consumer-​friendly experience. He was initially surprised that he hadn’t heard of Reno’s, since we live nearby and he’s connected to many local musicians. Now he won’t be back and won’t be recommending them.

The salesmen are soooooo knowledgeable and up to date with the latest trends and gear. It’s a friendly low pressure environment unlike the big chains. I give it 5 stars. Oh by the way… excellent guitar instruction. Check it out.
