Visited this place after finding it on Unilocal.WAY worth going slightly out of my way. I’m a sucker for mom and pop type places and this did not disappoint. Friendly staff, clean, fresh ingredients prepared in front of you… I got the super special sub(#19) on delicious white bread and their typical fixings including lettuce, tomato, oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and oregano. Nice touches! I added mayo, pickles & olives and it ended up being one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. I also tried the fries which were fresh and AMAZING. They have a crispy crust to them and were cooked perfectly. Why people would go to the subway down the road is beyond me. Give this place a shot! You won’t be disappointed!

Had the turkey sandwich — was great, really enjoyed the bread. Fries were amazing, and they were baked!

Everyone is always so friendly and it doesn’t get much more fresh than slicing the ham straight into your sandwich! Always a great experience and I have never been disappointed by a menu item! The whole sandwiches are humongous and feed me for two meals for less than ten dollars. The half sandwich is the perfect size and goes great with a bag of chips and an ice cold fountain soda. Love this local favorite!

Great turkey club… But be aware, prices are not updated. Instead of the 4.55 listed, I payed closer to $ 10 for a pick-up order.

Yum!!! The meat is fresh, the service is fast, and the flavor is phenomenal. I recommend a #16 on a pretzel bun. It’s 100 times better than a chain sandwich shop and the service is personal. Mike, the owner, is always out on the floor and he gives great advice on what you should try based on your preferences. They can even cater for you. I love this place and have never been disappointed. You won’t be either!

Fast, excellent value and quality ingredients. Great choice While traveling through town, I used Unilocal to find a local, privately owned restaurant instead of fast food. The other reviews were spot on. This place is excellent. The first thing we noticed walking in the door was how clean the dining area is. We were promptly greeted and the menu was easily explained. We took the staff’s recommendations after telling them what we liked and were more than pleased. We will be stopping again.

This place smelled horrible, was incredibly dirty, and the sandwiches were expensive. Their«kids meal» was a microwaved hot dog and a bag of chips which they charged over $ 4 for. Yuck. Avoid this place!

We visited SS2 because of a coupon. The dining area was very dirty and had a stale smoky smell. I felt like I was in a bowling alley lounge. We decided to get the food to go to get out of the space. The food was fine. It was average sub sandwich fare, nothing so special to excuse other sins. I’ll not be returning.

We ordered a 6ft sub for a family party and couldn’t have made a better choice! It was done right and ready when asked for. It didn’t take long to disappear either. I’ve had many other items from their menu too, all equally as good! Can’t go wrong with Sub Station II… and I love that it’s homegrown.

Best place in Florence to grab a sandwich. You can get your sandwich on a dark rye sandwich roll that you will not find at any of the other sandwich shops. Sandwich is made to order.

Tried it for the first time today. I’ve been missing out. Had the BLT and my little one had a turkey and salami sandwich. Great price for a healthy kids meal! My sandwich was prepared perfectly. The bacon had a delicious crunch. I’ll be back to try their chili.

You people don’t understand that this is the best sub ever. It is, really. I grew up on these subs in south georgia in the early 90’s. During college my girlfriend would come visit me in Atlanta and she’d bring me a sub. Then — sadly, the franchise closed down. So I’m driving out to meet a friend in Ohio — I’m scanning Unilocal and HOLYHECK I FOUNDTHISSUBPLACE! I ordered an ultimate, took it back to my hotel room — and it tasted just like home.

I have been going to this place for easy 15 plus years. One of my fav sandwich shops around, wish I had in Lex. Back in High School days they would help with our Pre Football game meal(would say they still do). On top locally owed and owner and family the ones that wait on you. Great people. I don’t to have often with me living in Lex but always on my short list when home. Go find out if you reading this! Tell them Unilocal Josh sent you.

Sub Station II is my favorite sub sandwich place. They have a nice selection of sandwich types to choose from. I’ve tried a few different types and have yet to be disappointed. They don’t have the amount of bread choices a subway has, but when you try the rye you won’t need any other type. The thing they have that subway doesn’t? They cut their own meats and cheeses for their sandwiches instead of that precut, prepackaged junk. I will stop by after work on a Saturday for a sandwich about every other week or so. Mike is always nice, and all the other staff is pleasant too! May not be a five dollar foot long, but definitely worth every cent!

I will be the first to admit that I am not usually a fan of sub shops/sub sandwiches — they’re usually just«ok». In fact, the only reason I tried Sub Station was because I found an awesome deal(which I learned later was actually hurting local businesses) from . The location itself appears somewhat«seedy» — it’s somewhat dark and dingy, and there’s a very 80’s «yellow lightting» feel to it, BUT… The food takes your eyes away from that! :-) The meats and cheeses are not pre-cut — they slice them right there when you order your sandwich, and they were more than happy to prepare the sandwich however we wanted, even offering suggestions on how they best love their sandwiches. Hint: get the bread«Mike’s way»! — you won’t regret it! I had the rueben on salt topped rye bread that Mike explained was from NY. This was in my top 3 favorite ruebens I’ve had. The bread is an added bonus to the quality corn beef on the sandwich. My husband had the # 19, I believe. I honestly don’t remember what was on there, but it had at least seven different types of meat on it. My husband loved it… and even though he’s an eater, he couldn’t eat all of it. I would suggest this shop to anyone — the food is awesome, and the owner, Mike, did everything he could to please us on our first visit. Needless to say, he succeeded.

I went here on a week day afternoon when they weren’t busy. I order the pretzel bread sandwich. It was great. They are about the same as Subway price wise, but I like local food more than franchised. I’m not sure how other sandwiches are, but I enjoyed what I ordered.

After ordering the Super Special–(ham, salami, pepperoni, turkey, bologna, cappicola and cheese) I bit into a oddly familiar bread texture. A texture I have had before and was not a fan of, almost a thicker denser Subway bread, the density most commonly found in chain locations. Overall the sandwich was lacking in meat quantity and quality and upon finishing off the first half, I had an unintentional side salad left on my wax paper. The shredded lettuce was not crisp and was enough to feed a farm of ravenous rabbits. The only think worse than chain sub sandwiches are chain sub sandwiches that origionated in South Carolina.

The subs here are very good. Get the roast beef or corned beef, it really does stand out from the meats at other sub chains. Definitely try your sandwich on the pretzel bread, it makes the sandwich even that much more special. But if that doesn’t appeal to you, all of their bread is good. Like a lot of sub places, it can get really slow with even a medium crowd, but if you have time to wait, it is definitely worth it.

My first visit here was surprisingly delicious. The strip mall it’s located in doesn’t lead one to think you are in for a positive experience. But it will be. Get the pretzel bread. It’s like having your sandwich served on a soft salted pretzel. The man behind the counter(the owner I was informed) was very friendly and helpful. My sandwich was lovely. The macaroni and cheese is something I would skip next time. Also the half order is plenty of sandwich. My date got the whole size and it was basically two huge sandwiches. The restaurant itself was kind of dim and the décor sort of outdated, but the table were clean and the noise level refreshingly low. Definitely a great lunch choice.

I didn’t realize Sub Station II was a chain until searching for it in Unilocal. The small and quiet little building certainly could use some love, as it gave off the feeling that SSII was more ailing family business than local sub chain. But the food wasn’t bad. The service left some room to be desired, and relied more on a pre-set menu than custom-building your own sub from scratch. But since the menu was pretty large, and the ingredients pretty delicious, it’s not really a problem. I’d say this is a great place to bring kids. A lot of the options struck me as the kind of simple builds that kids would like, and the price seems right to feed a whole family for not too much scratch. I’d recommend getting yourself some subs to go, and heading down to Devou Park, which is only a stones throw a way. (Bonus, you can score some deals on their awful, awful website )
