I like this place very much, although I believe they’ve changed their name to Green House or something of the sort recently. Their teharis are good, iftars, and of course they’re known for their sweets. Their sweet doi/dahi is amazing!

The«décor» is pretty basic, but the biryanis are great. Some of the other food is good as well. If you like biryani and are not looking for anything fancy, the biryanis are quite good. Best for take-out, unless you like the hindi videos and dirty tables. It’s definitely an experience. The best selections are the fish and shrimp biryanis. They are truly extraordinary. The physical space is the only downside really.

I actually think the«sweetmeat» part is pretty funny and disgusting at the same time. I know I wouldn’t want to eat sweetmeat. I actually came here twice, on the same day. I met up with one of my friends at Jackson Heights, to eat some Indian food. My Bengali friend was late, so she told me and my other friend to walk around and try some sweets. So we did. We walked and came upon this place. We thought it’d be good, b/c there were a lot of people. I believe I had the kalakand, which is made up of cheese and sweetened milk. It was square and it was delicious. Very milky. It is a tad too sweet, but that’s how all Indian sweets are, just way too sweet, but good. My friend had this ball thing, with cream in the middle. Hers didn’t taste that great. It tasted like fried dough, in a very sweet syrup. A little on the heavy side. The people there were nice, and I like how they sell by the piece. I noticed that they had this buffet style thing going on, which I wanted to try. After eating, we met up with my friend at Patel Brothers. As we were walking to our destination, we thought that it’d be funny if our friend took us to the same place that we just ate sweets at. We were walking, and all of a sudden, the area looked familiar! Turns out that our friend was bringing us to the same place! My other friend and I know nothing about Indian food, so we just agreed with whatever my Bengali friend was saying. So we ordered some biryani, a beef and lamb to be exact. I think we ordered aloo gobi as well. I liked the aloo gobi, but I wasn’t a fan of the biryanis. It was kinda dry, and had very very little meat. I don’t think we paid a good deal for our meals. I think it came out to $ 30. Not very reasonable. We might have been better off if we stuck to that buffet table that we saw near the front. There were much more varieties, and I craved something saucy. We were the only ones eating at the time, so it felt weird.

Alauddin is very famous for their desserts/sweets. On top of my head, their most famous ones are — Roso-golla, Chom-chom, Kalo-jam, Ros-kodom, Mishti-doi, Chana, etc. They also serve regular food as well. Their Biriyani is pretty good. Also, they make the«Deshi-Chinese» which is also very good.
