Not closed. Just ate there 2 days ago in the late evening. Food was fantastic and the service was great. Highly recommend this place.

To start of, this is a review of just the 1st floor dine-in area and not the 2nd floor where it is a more bar/lounge setting. I came here for the 1st time for a celebration with some friends and enjoyed the dimly lit down-to-earth setting. For a Friday night, the 1st Floor dining-in area wasn’t busy at all which caused some skepticism. After ordering and trying the food I can honestly say I’m shocked this place doesn’t have awesome business. The food was flat out tasty as hell. Dare I say it’s the best Korean bar food right now in Queens. If you decide to go which I highly recommend, you must order the Kimchi fried rice! No lie, the best I’ve ever had. I was actually kind of mad and jealous because I pride myself on cooking the best Kimchi Fried rice out there, but this one admittedly takes the cake. We had to order it 5 separate times because it kept getting killed by everybody. Besides the luscious sunny side egg served on top, my favorite thing about the rice was it had this distinct smokiness to it which made it so savory and delicious. As per the waiter, they specialize in rice cakes, Dukbokki, which I normally can’t say is my favorite Korean dish but holy smokes it was damn good. With that rich melty cheese on top, it’s just Korean comfort food at its best. Another must-order. The only con I can say about this place is that the service was understaffed. It was hard to get the server’s attention because he was the only one working which is understandable because they wouldn’t hire more servers if it isn’t busy at all. Like I said, check the place out if you want good food and drinks with some friends in an unpretentious setting. I’m definitely going back!

I remember the this place used to be in Ktown and it’s now moved here. I was kinda sad that they did not have the jaeyuk bokum though. So I checked this place out with some friends. The kimchi cheese fries here are reeaaally good. So was there Sangria. I was pleasantly surprised. Now I had the bulgogi + tonkatsu combo over rice. It wasn’t that great. I don’t think it works well together. The bulgogi was too sweet and the tonkatsu flavor clashed with it. We tried the banana makguli and I didn’t like it. Did not go well with the food at all. The fries and the sangria will make me come back again. This time I’ll try something else maybe it’ll be better.

Just as good as I remember in ktown! We came on a Saturday night and this place was empty! We ordered the seafood dobuki with cheese on top and it was cheesy and delicious. Love the sauce they cooked the dobuki with. It was sweet, savory and spicy and went very well with the rice cake. Portion was a lot smaller than I remember tho. The one we used to order in ktown was huge and hard for two people to finish but the one here, me and my husband finished it with no problem and wanted more food. And there were not many rice cake in there. So we also ordered the fried squid and that was OK. Service needs to improve. We were the only customer in the restaurant, but we had to keep waving at the waiter for services. Overall we enjoyed our meal and will be back again soon. Hope their service and business improves!

This place by far, has been the best restaurant I have been to in a long time. I definitely have to return AND spread the word as well… but cautiously… I don’t want it to become too crowded and I can’t get a table… I’m selfish with good food! Anyway, on with the review… Me and my other half were looking for a late night spot with some good food and service as well and we saw this place as being a recommended spot for both on a Friday night. I will say upfront, the parking isnt the best on Northern Blvd. and I don’t understand anything in the Korean language, so this place was not the easiest to find among many other Korean spots on Northern Blvd, but our diligence to always be resourceful, had us matching the logo to all the signs and hoping one of our many nagivational systems will at least give us a photo… Well, we eventually find this gem and upon walking in, we are instantly greeted by a welcoming host and I kick off the night with a bottle of some ice cold Peach Soju. It was an interesting drink, refreshing and different… Mr. Man enjoyed it much more so, he ordered a second bottle(we will have to try the other flavors next time: apple, yogurt and grape). A polite young vibrant lady came over and greeted us and asked how did we find this cozy spot and asked if we were new to Korean dining. Since I was, showed her a picture I saw from a fellow Unilocaler and asked her what it was and could we try it… it was spicy pork cheese ddukbokki and it was pretty much cheese, spices, vegetables and other Korean fare and intense flavors that comes searing hot in a large skillet for 2 or more! It was melt in your mouth deliciously good! I thought about it days later. We were so stuffed after and we were even shown the upstairs lounge area after we finished dining. I had a great, memorable time here, the music was even awesome. A little Korean, a little hip-hop, a little R&B… idk if it was to set the mood on romantic, since we were the only couple there, but it was a great play on their end and let’s me know they are versatile here and eager to please… we left such a generous tip for such generous service. One of my favorite Korean spots to come!

I loved this place when it was in Manhattan and I love it even more now that it’s close to home. The new location is trendy and serves yummy Korean comfort food. Plus it has a full bar upstairs! You can grab drinks and karaōke at the bar upstairs, but I come for the food! Their menu has changed a few time since it opened, but their main attractions such as the«KJD»(kimchee and pork cheesy Dduk Bokki) are still on the menu. Honestly, everything is delicious, but I always order the KJD, donkotsu bulgogi or the cheese tonkatsu and one of their spicy soups. The best time to go is during their happy hour when they have specials. You can try lots of dishes for less. Plus they also have drink specials. Even my 2 young sons love eating here. The owners are always so nice to us and the service is always great. We never leave hungry. Definitely a favorite of mine!

I didn’t know this was the same Arang as the one that used to be in Manhattan’s K town(not sure what store it is there now, but it used to be the restaurant above KeunJip)! I used to go there when I was in college. This location is near Prince II. It was a rainy, cold Friday night and I wanted some izakaya but we had already headed out to Flushing and ShikGaek was a disappointment last time — which brought us here. We first stopped to see the first floor, which is the restaurant, and then proceeded upstairs, which is the bar area. The bar is small and dark, but perfect for late night rendezvous, dates, or just a get together with a small crowd. It is definitely NOT for groups — I wouldn’t recommend a crowd larger than 3 – 4. The bartender, Sunny, is the owner’s daughter(makes her the owner, too, right?) She was an absolute pleasure to have around and was very sociable. Hard to come by in a Korean establishment. I liked that they had a full bar and the atmosphere was just dark enough for me not to feel self conscious about my now completely frizzied hair and frazzled look from a pretty crappy Friday afternoon. We ordered golbengyi muchim(spicy sea nail salad with noodles) and tangsooyook(sweet and sour pour). Both were great but with my gluten sensitivity, I wasn’t going to allow myself more than one bite of each. They’re famous dukkboki was too large for the two of us to share, since we also had already eaten. Thanks for being a great host! Loved the decoration and the cleanliness of the bathroom. Will be back again.

Best ddukboki(however you spell it) I’ve had! The second you bite into it your teeth sink into a soft pillowy rice cake, which I wasn’t used to at first because I was so used to the slightly more chewy ones you get pretty much everywhere else. We always get the raboki(rice cake with ramen and cheese) and it is always LOADED with cheese, but I wish they had more ddukboki. The sauce is a nice balance between sweet and spicy. You can probably split this between 2 – 3 people, any more and you’re not getting a big share. We also ordered the budae jjigae(stew with spam, ramen, veggies, kimchi and whatever else you can think of), kimchi pancake and tang sooyook. The budae jjigae wasn’t as big as other places but the broth definitely tasted better and it comes in an elevated stand with a flame underneath to keep your stew piping hot. The kimchi pancake came with our makgeolli — it was not too thick and cooked to a nice crisp. The tang sooyook(fried pork with sweet and sour sauce) wasn’t memorable but not bad either — light and crispy. Staff is super nice and helpful. We came here right before happy hour ended and just started ordering drinks left and right. They have a 5 shots for $ 20 special and like I mentioned above, some of the drinks or bottles come with food so definitely worth it. Remember to CHECKINON UnilocalFOR10% OFF! Been here twice already and I think this is going to be my go to spot for comfort food and drinks.

I need to come back to try out more stuff!(will update review then) buutttt for now. here is what i thought The dubbokki(KJD) is probably one of the best that i have tried in the Flushing area. It is cooked to a nice chewy level that is not only delicious but different from the competitors in the area. The kimchi, pork and cheese work so well together i just want to get more. The kimbap that we ordered for the table was great as well. The seafood pancake here is also bomb. It does not have the overwhelming oily taste but still fried to a perfect crisp and has a great seafood flavor to it. Also happy hour is 5 – 8 pm everyday gotta go!

Been coming back ever since the Unilocal elite event. They have daily happy hour from 5−8pm and late night specials from 11pm to close. I tried the KJD the first time and the OJD the next time. I really love how soft and gooey the dukbokki is. There’s lots of cheese and it’s not too spicy. Make sure to leave some leftover so they mix it with a bowl of rice. Not sure if it’s extra but its included in the happy hour pricing. It also came with a bottle of makgeolli(your choice). The kimchi pajun was crispy and not too greasy. During the Unilocal event, I sampled some of the spicy sashimi salad which I loved. I ordered it as an entrée and it was HUGE. It can feed like 5 – 6 people. Also the ramen is tasty and didn’t taste over cooked. It was al dente and the broth was better than other ramen locations. For a Korean restaurant their ramen is on point. For their drinks, they have a $ 20 for 5 shot special available throughout the night. I tried the gummy bear and orgasm shot. Both were good and strong. They have a ton of different drinks as well as food specials with soju/bottles/makgeolli. Service is attentive despite how busy it can get on a Friday night. If the first floor is crowded there’s a second floor bar area with tables. The prices aren’t too steep because the food portions are very generous. Check into Unilocal for 10% off!

Arang’s food was pretty good. We ordered the fish bowl but it was not worth $ 35. The fishbowl tasted pretty nasty and had way too much blue curacao. It tasted pretty much like an adiós motherfucker. The video that they play at the restaurant was not entertaining at all. They should really consider changing the video they play there. I wasn’t sure if the video of girls in bikinis partying on the poolside drugged up was suppose to make me want to party or supposed to make the guys horny. Personally, watching that video made me not want to party at all and creeped me out a little bit. Plus the sad korean songs that they were blasting in the restaurant while the video was playing didn’t help at all.

Arang gets five stars because the cheese ddukboki they make is truly the best. They’ve actually perfected every aspect of this dish. The rice cakes are cooked to perfect texture, firm enough to hold together, but gives away so tenderly when you sink your teeth into it. The sauce has the right amount of spicy and sweet. And the cheese is a nice mix that actually falls apart when cut with a spoon, and does not stick in amorphous clumps that require work to separate. The presentation is even masterfully done, with sauce and cheese still bubbling on the pan as it’s placed on the table, which almost always induces the biological reaction in me known as mouth watering. There are options for this dish, and the one I recommend is the one with cheese pork kimchi. There are other solid dishes here as well. The fried pork with sweet and sour sauce dip is a nice snacky dish to share, as is the kimchi pancake. Personally, I love washing all the stuff here down with some makgeolli, as the milky unfiltered texture is a great compliment to the spicy.

So. I can’t seem to get enough of this place! I knew this place was going to be trouble and sure enough, less than a month after my first initial visit(and after raving about the dukkboki to just about anyone who’d listen) I made my way back — but this time I brought people with me to share the love. I don’t even know where to begin describing my love for this place. Their raboki was still as delicious as I remembered it, but now I’ve added a few more goodies to my arsenal of good ol’ Korean comfort food, so here it goes. 1. Raboki — folks, just try it. and take me with you when you do. 2. Kimchi Cheese Fries — I know, I know, sounds so gross. I was a little apprehensive about it too, but hot damn! I almost feel compelled to start a Unilocal List of my favorite«Fry Concoctions» with this topping the list. 3. Kimchi Pajun — a/k/a Korean Pizza, it’s kimchi enveloped in a layer of carby goodness. Honestly, need I say more? The cold-hearted-innocent-animal-eating-carnivores in our group, bless their hearts, ordered a few additional dishes that all(admittedly) looked delicious. I obviously didn’t taste them, but you can peruse through my pictures and enjoy them yourselves on your next visit.

Environment: 5⁄5 Employees: 5⁄5 Food: 5⁄5 Drinks: 5⁄5 Cost: 5⁄5 Total: 25⁄25 Synopsis: Originally, I didn’t get into this event, but Kia texted me asking if I got in. After saying, «No,» it was transferred to me. YEA! Now I can hang out! So halfway to the restaurant, which was close to the last event, my servant Kent picked me up! Thanks boo!!! The event was amazing with great drinks and most importantly food! The employees were so gracious and all had a smile. I was thinking, cute, cute, cute to the waiters, but to my dismay they were all straight. BOO! Environment: This place has two different environments to enjoy: 1) Bar and 2) a restaurant style. Employees: Everyone was so nice! Too bad no gay waiters. Food: Tuna Salad: The fresh fish was so good! It seemed like the same grade as what I use when I made my poke! 5⁄5 Curry: I was surprised that Korean food had curry. But it was delicious. Definitely takes curry to a different, but amazing level. 5⁄5 Beef and rice: The beef had the perfect amount of fatty and marinated flavor. Top-notch. 5⁄5 Drinks: Yuzu Makgeoli: I always love citrus drinks. Overcomes the«alcohol» taste. Definitely delicious. 5⁄5 Pomegranate Soju: A different kind of awesome. It had a bitter/sweet taste to it. I didn’t expect this to be good, but it was. 5⁄5 Cost: Free + tip. LOVEIT!

We got the special combo of clam soup and soju and ddeokbukki with cheese. They are so good and in reasonable price. It’s the best ddeokbukki in the town so far. Really enjoy our good and the ambiance here was great, to chill or to have fun. Definitely will come back again.

We came to Arang for a special private Elite Event with Unilocal but two of our friends Loved Arang so much that we decided to stay after to have dinner while the staff was eating late night. You can tell the Owners of the Bar & Restaurant loved what they do. The Event was really great and we got to try two different types of Soju, Pomegrante and Yuzu(Pomegranate Cocktail was my favorite but Yuzu was great as well). I got the sample a few dishes during the Event and After: Kimchee Pajun — tastey scallon pancakes, were nice but I like them a little fluffier. Donkatsu Bulgogi Dupbap — fried pork cutlet over rice in a hot pot, gives you a home cooking feel The KJD — Cheese Ddukbokkii!!! This was a Slam dunk dish, who know a cheesy, sour, sweet dish with Kimchee, Pork, and Rice Cakes would be so good. This is the perfect drinking snack. Tang Sooyook — Fried Pork Tempura with a sweet and sour sauce. Overall I’d loved how much attention and care was given by the staff. Even while they were having dinner late night they served us and treated us very well and Sunny actually came by and talked with us. The Restaurant is owned by Sunny and her mom and a team of women. I think this is a great spot for late night snacking.

So after the Arang Elite Event, our friends insisted we come back for dinner. They were driven. No person, no drink was going to deter them from returning. So we spent 15 – 20 minutes at the after party(UYE) and ended up back at Arang. And this was the best(and FIrst!) cheese ddukboki I’ve had. Perfect after a few drinks. Cheesy, spicy, chewy rice cake with kimchi in a hot cast iron pan. Doesn’t sound appealing but it is one of my new favorite dishes. And light and crispy Pork tempura with a sweet and sour sauce(Tang Sooyook). The staff was incredibly accommodating and so hospitable. One of the owners, Sunny, sat and chatted with us while the rest of the her crew ate. She was smart, charming and really sweet. Thanks for the suggestions Sunny! Thank you for hosting us!

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while, but one day it disappeared from midtown! They recently moved locations so it’s a bit difficult for me to come here. Yet, I HAD to try it. We walked in right when it had opened so there was basically no one there yet on that Sunday evening. We ordered the kimchi dukbokki with cheese and ramen noodles. Yogurt soju too. The yogurt soju came and it was delish! It’s pretty much Yakult soju, which didn’t sound to great to me but I really liked it. The servers were super friendly. They even brought out a tasty mung bean pancake for us on the house! Then it came. The sizzling hot pan of goodness. The redness from the rice cakes and noodles covered in the sauce, topped with melted cheese, made my eyes light up. It was amazing! The rice cakes’ texture was so much better from what I normally have. Goodness! The three of us devoured that plate and were completely stuffed. It sucks that Arang moved so deep into Queens but after having their cheesy dukbokki, I’m hooked. I have to be back soon!
