The coffee here is pretty good. They offer a selection of espressos, teas and coffee. Bakery items are somewhat limited and are not your traditional buns you would find at Fay Da or Taipan, probably because it’s a Korean bakery(although the selection is still limited compared to koryodang). Seats about 14 people.

Ordered a light and extra sweet ice coffee with soymilk. I don’t understand what was so difficult with that order. The coffee I received tasted like it had no sugar at all. And the soymilk was clumped and curdled on the bottom. Its like they dont know soymilk lasts only 7 days ONCEOPEN. NOTFOLLOWTHEEXPDATEEVENAFTERITSOPEN. The people at the counter has a lost expression if you order more than 2 coffees and eventually will screw up your order. Union canaan coffee? No thanks I’ll pass.

3.5, really. High ratings are for very specific food items only. In fact, it is mainly because they offer bacon. New Canaan is a beacon of bacon in a bland sea of bread. It is a bacon oasis. 1) Bacon egg and cheese on a croissant is extremely satisfying. I was worried about finding a good, bodega-style bxfast sandwich in this world of chinese bakery items and expensive korean chain bakeries. 2) Their coffee is curiously strong and delicious, and a whole $ 2 cheaper than Tous les Jours or Paris Baguette. Unfortunately, they do not offer soy milk. Strange as so many asians are lactose intolerant — but not strange, in that Asians who succumb to lactose intolerance are just hypochondriac pussies. Thou shall overcome. Today I ordered a vanilla latte and I was super impressed at how good it tasted.(Admittedly my expectations were low. I was scared). 3) Their ginger-lemon tea(jarred korean citron preserve) is strong, delicious, and cheaper than Tous Les Jours. — — — — — — — — — — — — — - It is not the most«rustic» or «spacious» or «friendly» or «spotless» café out there, but Ive got pretentious Manhattan and Brooklyn café standards. I have not been tempted by any of their wrapped bread/bakery/pastry items. I mean this 4 star rating is literally because of bacon.

A Korean bakery in Downtown Flushing. With a good friend who is now a local to Flushing, we ventured to Canaan Bakery for after brunch sweets. One Green Tea cake was very light and refreshing, one coconut bun, one mini Tawianese pineapple cake were a delight. I like this bakery for the many options.
