I only trust one lady with my hair and her name is Amy. I’ve been coming here for over half a decade and she seriously gets it. Bangs or no bangs, layers or no layers. Puberty and all lol She had always been there for my hair. The obscure basement location is good, if not excellent for regulars, I wouldn’t want to wait any longer than I already do — specially because I never even knew what this place is called until finding it’s Unilocal page TODAY… after 7 freaking years — I might be able to finally call in instead of just popping in! Lmao It is not the finest salon in town, not even in the neighborhood but I trust her so I only come here. The wait is usually about half an hour if you just show up. This place is really for regulars. I don’t think I would ever have found it on my own. The prices are excellent. $ 20 for hair cut and blow dry.

there’s so many potential ways this salon could fail. 1. the salon is housed in a sketchy basement location. it’s on main st across the street from hk supermarket so it’s never lacking in foot traffic. and after you make it down the stairs, you’re in a semi-tacky looking but clean salon 2. language could be a barrier though, if you’re not looking for something fancy or drastically different, you’re perfectly fine. otherwise, you might want to come armed with a photo and/or friend that speaks chinese. but, here’s the positive, the haircut, wash, and blowdry was $ 17. yeah that’s right. 17! that’s about the same price as a midtown lunch + starbucks coffee per diem! ask for amy. she’s about 5’4(maybe shorter, can’t tell bc i was mostly sitting), with pixie hair, and can speak english well enough and understood my stammering chinese better. best part about amy? she listens and counsels but always follows your request. NICE! after 24 yrs, i”ve found a go-to stylist.
