I wasn’t impressed. We came here because our usual go-to spot for dinner was closed on Mondays and their infamous yellow awning was enticing. That was about it as far as amusement. The portions for the duck bbq were so small! We couldn’t believe it. At HanJoo, we’re usually stuffed to the gills. We ordered the portion size for«two»(and by two, I mean two toddlers) and we were scraping the grill for as much meat as we could get. Did I mention the duck meat was laden with fat? I like my meats thinly sliced and clean. My bf wasn’t happy either. Also, the cold noodles were way too sweet for our liking. I don’t think I’ll be coming back here.

this review is based only on their naengmyun. the service was fine, nothing particularly special or atrocious. the banchan they brought was fried onion pancakes, salad with an orange peel vinaigrette, radish, and jelly. the naengmyun noodles were good I didn’t think they lived up to what everyone was raving about them. The noodles were great. They were chewy, thin, not overcooked. The portion was a bit smaller than most and the items on the side were just alright. The one strip of meat in the bowl was too chewy. The egg, pear, and radish were fine but nothing to rave about.

Finally got to try the Halabuhji Kimchi Bulgogi, and I have to say that it did not meet my expectations. First of all, the price for that was way too expensive($ 26 for 1 person). Second, I feel like I’ve had better bulgogi elsewhere. Literally just ordered this for Instagram and Unilocal haha. I mean, the taste was there, but really nothing special… trust me… go somewhere else for bulgogi. I think I might come back for their samgyupsal and duck meat though! I constantly kept glancing over everyone’s table that ordered samgyupsal or duck meat… it looked pretty bomb. UPDATE I tried the roasted(not marinated) duck meat and it was the shiz. When you’re craving some delicious duck stop by this restaurant!

Amazing banchan spread. I can’t remember any other place that serves eggplant or pickled lotus roots for appetizers – usually have to wait until main meal for that! Also, bonus yakult(yogurt drink) instead of the typical post-meal complimentary fortune cookies or orange slices. Had mulnaengmyon. I think the cold noodles here live up to the hype. Myulchi haejanggook was sooo tasty. Best part was service. All the staff were so attentive! One even escorted us to the door right after cooking and carefully packing up a large take-out order for another customer.

My favorite place for some chik naengmyun and for some duck bbq! for bbq, they have a rule that you have to order 2 of the same meats to bbq at the table. which is normally fine for me because i just get their duck.

Pretty good. But will definitely choose hanjoo over this place. Boisterous and crowded on a sunny day. Overall — great food and experience.

This place is located next to hahm ji bach. I never really noticed it until my friend took me. I tried naengmyun before but I didn’t like it too much. Surprisingly, I think I like it here! Of course it’s probably better because it’s their specialty. They have a good variety of banchan, I especially liked the mushrooms, but I’m a mushroom addict to begin with. The samgyupssal was good, too. We had the thinner slices and 2 orders gives you 6 slices + doenjang jjigae. The only thing negative thing is… it’s hard to hear each other in here since the table is wide and the sounds bounce everywhere. It feels chaotic even though it wasn’t that full.

Food: the bimbimbap I will say is pretty good, the bi bim cold noodle was okay, I’ve had better, Ambiance: nothing special like any other Korean BBQ joint in the area Service: my –2 star deduction is due to this, service is slow and servers are not attentive if you do not have a Korean speaker at your table, at least that was my experience tonight… It almost seemed like the servers were purposely avoiding our table, our food took longer than others, we didn’t get our small side dishes after placing our orders when other tables that sat after had already received theirs… it took us quite a while to get our check after asking twice, meanwhile all the other tables were attended to just fine All in all I don’t think I’d be returning to this place, there are better restaurants to eat in the area with better service

My family and I frequent Kum Sung for cold noodles and kbbq. Yesterday, we ordered dwenjangjjigae to-go and when we pulled the to-go container out, it was HALFEMPTY. We called the restaurant and spoke to the owner who didn’t apologize and instead said this was«normal». I have never in my life seen a restaurant that fills their soup containers half way. Ridiculous. Never ordering from here again.

This is my go to spot in the Summer! I absolutely love naengmyun on a hot humid summer day. They have different types of naengmyun running from 10 – 14 dollars. For everything else such as the bibimbop, I am not really a fan. I also think for the quality of galbi it was a bit over priced. Service staff is great and was super fast.

Gem in Murray Hill. Halabuhji Bulgogi(Grandpa Bulgogi) and a Sekomi Nengmyun and you’re set. I can’t get enough. Halabuhji Bulgogi — place the kimchi and gogi on top of your nengmyun, and you’ll get one unforgettable, mouth-watering bite. You can’t forget about the broth. After simmering in all those vegetables and meat, that broth becomes so silky and flavorful. I tried mixing the soup with a side of rice for the first time and I don’t know why I didn’t do this sooner! This is my favorite nengmyun place, and those who are my friends know that I am super picky with my nengmyun. The noodles are thick and never overcooked and the broth is so refreshing! Their side dishes are simple but good. My favorite is the potato fritter. The servers are more than accommodating and will refill the side dishes as many times as you want. Shout out to the owner — she’s the best! :)

First of all, I eat and make Mul Naengmyun at home all year long — whether it’s winter or not. This restaurant is the Best Naeng Myun place in ALLTHELAND! The chik Mul Naeng Myun is awesome. Knowing this place is the ONLY good thing that came out of my previous marriage! So i still go there — i just need to look side to side first to see if the ex’s fam is there LMAO jk! I DON’T CARECAUSEIT’S THATGOOD! i usually take new people here often and I even had a girlfriend who told me not to tell her man that I brought her there because he loves Mul Naengmyun and she wants to introduce him to this place. LOL! IT’S SERIOUSPEOPLE! You gotta get the Hae Mool Pah Jun(Seafood Pancake) with your meal to balance the hot with cold — which I love! Also love the Yook Soo(Korean beef broth drink) they give. It is just very satisfying and delicious here. ^^

Used to come here for cold noodles and it was good but now, it’s just average. My niece and nephew was there, since they don’t eat cold noodles because of spicy. Their mom order BBQ beef ribs, it cost $ 18.99 an order and come only 14 pieces of ribs. Rib are just fair taste since that’s isn’t their best seller in the store. But to me it’s pricy base on pieces of ribs. During eat-in restaurant, they offer is eggs in small hot pot and a soup in the small hot pot. The soup was tasty so I order one togo, the photo I had upload it. It’s $ 12.?? And it’s only 2⁄3 full. I do expect since I am paying for soup, it should come at least 9⁄10 if not at least 4⁄5 full. FYI, I am not going back.

Best nengmyun in town! If you like it spicy, the bibim nengmyun is delicious! If nengmyun is not filling enough, have it with the hal-ah-bu-ji gogo and mul nengmyun. It’s quite the treat! This is where Koreans swarm as soon as the weather gets warm, so expect a wait in the summer time.

Korea would be proud of Gum sung for such a tasty representation of her nationally recognized noodles. These cold noodles tend to go well with Korean BBQ. There is an age old saying that we Koreans have a separate stomachs for meat and noodles. Kum Sung is my go-to spot for ‘bi bim neng myun’ which is noodles mixed with sweet and spicy sauce. ‘bi bim’ translates to ‘mixed.’ ‘Chik Neng Myun’ literally translates to ‘Buckwheat Cold Noodles’. There are many ingredients that make our traditional national noodle dish, the carefully choreographed culinary masterpiece that it is. The sauce is sweet and spicy and the noodles are nice and chewy. A slice or two of savory braised beef marries well with the overall spiciness. The thinly sliced pickled daikon and cucumbers adds a palate cleansing crispness. A slice of an Asian pear adds another dimension of simultaneously sweet and refreshing flavors. The half of a hard-boiled egg is my favorite way to end the last couple slurps of noodles. I haven’t tried anything else but ‘if it ain’t broke, why fix it?’ The sweet, savory, spicy, and crisp flavors all happily dance on your tongue together, while every satiating swallow soothes your stomach’s woes. Oh and I almost forgot, I like that they give you complimentary Korean style Latkas for an appetizer. When you pay the bill you get a free Korean yogurt soft-drink for dessert.
