The grilled pork belly was very juicy and tender, the kimchee cold dish was really good as well. However I wish they would improve on their service. The servers don’t smile or whatsoever and often just nods and walk away without even letting you finish talking.

Definitely not run by Korean but Chinese. From free appetizer to the Roasted Pork, we’ve experienced better. We’ve dined in Korean restaurants a lot, even visited some North Korean ones. This one is not authentic. Not one dish I would like to recommend. My advice is to find another Korean restaurant, such as those ones in Elmhurst. Service is not bad though.

Went today with my boyfriend for the first time. If you guys want regular food this is a place you should NOT go. I don’t know how the kbbq is. Haven’t try it yet. I ordered a appetizer, the Royal stir fry… and it wasn’t great. It didn’t look like the picture. It had too much black pepper in it. Not sure why they did what they did. I was expecting a simple stir fry of veggies with the rice cake. For entrée, I ordered the seafood tofu soup. Very little seafood(compare to BCD Tofu and another place I went right on Northern Blvd). There was plenty of tofu in it. And for the first time I actually finished the soup before the tofu. Another entrée was Soybean Paste Stew. It was very salty. BH it there was a variety of ingredients in it. The house appetizers were okay. One thing that was interesting was the black sesame sauce for the salad. It tasted alright… but I probably wouldn’t really go back more for it. Maybe I’ll come back to try the BBQ. But will satisfy my regular Korean food elsewhere. Service: Average. They were kind. But not attentive. I wasn’t fond of the idea that the waiter shoved our appetizers away with our entrees. At least wait for us to move it before put it down. It wasn’t busy so I don’t know what the rush was.

I am Surprised this place still exists. Terrible customer service. Haven’t experience such unattended customer service for a long long time. * water bottle is empty forever and no one refilled water * need to request lettuce in a bbq restaurant since it is not provided until you ask * small portion on side dish and the cheese corn. No refill until you ask. * The pork belly is pretty good but there are other restaurants around have good quality of pork belly AND good service as well. * 20% of tips is added automatically in the bill for terrible service. Watch out! First time also the last time.

Was in Flushing and needed some Kimchi stew. Since I can’t eat pork, the nice waiter said that tofu would be substituted for the pork. While waiting, I was served delicious hot tea. Then came the appetizers. They were the best part of my meal. Assorted salads, mini pancakes, kimchi, etc. They filled me up. The stew was okay, but it could have used more Kimchi, Tofu, and flavor. The Kimchi stew at Korean Express near Bloomie’s was much better. The staff was super nice and my bill came with a complimentary Butterfinger candy. All in all, it was a pleasant place. Next time, I’ll try the cold Bibimbob.

Today’s my birthday. I with my boyfriend take dinner tonight. Beef and pork flavor soft and delicious, but too little. I really like the sauce (but I don’t know what it is) you know the waitress was not enthusiastic, but it ok! It’s not bothers me.

Taste not like original Korean kalbi. very bad. I am sure they don’t know how to make or chef didn’t come that day. Also meat quality is very very no good. I am sure store keep this taste or quality, they gonna close someday soon. Bad experience. Only one person that front cashier is kind and nice. All other things no good.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have a chance to try the food due to a severe lack of customer service. My friends who were visiting from out of town wanted Korean BBQ at 10AM(as they both drove all early morning to get here and were starving), I thought of this place as I always walked by on my way to the 7 train and knew that they were open 24h. I had heard good things about it and was looking forward to taking my friends there. Talk about an embarrassing choice. We walked in, and saw 1 employee wiping down their drink refrigerator, and 1 customer who had finished their meal. We took a look at the menu by the hostess desk, and saw 2 other employees doing something in the back. Our eyes met when I looked up from the menu, and we stood around by the host/hostess’ counter. They then proceeded to turn around and go back to doing what they were doing. Not a big deal, I can wait. 5 minutes later, my friends were wondering what was happening, as we had been waiting for someone to come greet us… Were we supposed to just go and sit ourselves down? So I began to walk towards the back, calling out«hello» 3 times, and they didn’t turn to look our way. Fed up, we decided to walk out. I turned and told my friends«let’s forget it and go elsewhere», and then of course that’s when the employees decided to approach us, but sorry! Too late. I work customer service as well, and I would not treat a client that way. Even the person wiping the refrigerator could’ve gone and gotten a server to seat us, but nah, he’s probably not paid enough to care. The fact that they had seen people standing around, and not done anything about it brought upon a really unpleasant feeling. Once we were on our way out, my friend just turned to see what the employee decided to do, and he had just turned around and returned to the back of the restaurant. Nice to know they really care about how the restaurant is perceived. Regardless, we went to another 24h restaurant nearby(SanSooKapSan), who were very attentive and fed us until we were stuffed happily. Perhaps if I get dragged here unwillingly, I will change the review if they can change my mind with that visit, but probably not anytime soon.

Came here last night with my boyfriend two friends and their two kids. We ordered a beef combo for three duboki dish, seafood pancake, and a pork belly on the side. The bill was about 210 including tip. I hate to compare it to kanhodong baekjong but i have to. I feel like its the most comprable. So in both places you get the egg around the bbq grill. I think the egg at kanhodong is better and at kanhodong you get corn and melted cheese. Its just too good. Mapo didnt have it. Both gave the sauce with onions. However at mapo they gave this sweet radish which was a bit different and kimchi. I didnt like the kimchi i t was tooo fresh not fermented enough. If you like that then you would like their kim chi The beef combo for three was a lot of food. Beef did seem fresh. Pork belly was okay. A little too think. Beef is better than the pork for sure. Pancake is good def get that. Dobukki we couldve done with out. Nothing special

Bill came out to only $ 130 for 2 people– we had the beef combo. 5 different kinds of meat and they change the grill in between. I was delighted by their attentive service and the meat was AWESOME. Our meat was never over or undercooked. Our water was always filled, and it was nice not to have to ask for napkins as there was a box of em on every table. There’s also a service button on the table, but I don’t see the use for that when the waiters are always always always there to help you out! The meat sushi was delicious and the presentation of the food was breathtakingly authentic and novel at the same time. I loved the adjustable vent which was brought closer to the grill everytime the bbq smell-filled smog started to rise up from the grill. The side dishes were just ok, but who’s eating that anyway? The kimchi with tofu is a very very authentic Korean banchan, and it’s a clean, not-too-filling appetizer to nibble at while waiting for your good to grill. Eggs mixed with some garlic/spicy sauce was being cooked on the outer side of the grill, which was awesome! It was then replaced with dduk(rice cake), but I was too stuffed to eat anything else but the main course. We, of course, had 2 bottles of soju and was feeling mighty fly when we left. I’ll definitely be coming back for more — it’s worth trekking out for from NYC or NJ, at least for me!

Since transitioning out of vegetarinism for the past year, korean bbq was on my list of must dos! I had just ran the Queens 10k, and I was craving a protein filling meal. My friend and I hopped over to Flushing and found this lovely bbq spot. We splurged and got the beef combo for 2. It’s been probably over 10 years since I’ve had korean bbq, so it was quite an experience! The server came out with SOMUCH food. Salads, meats, kimchi… it filled the table. Then came the grilling. My friend and I were literally just starring, hypnotized by all the grilled meat. Then came the eating. Uh, so good. More than enough food for 2 people! The perfect post race meal!

Love love love the kimchi. It was perfect. Kimchi had the balance of fresh and different spices with a sweet note at the end. The combo meats was huge enough for four if not more. A very unique Korean BBQ place. Totally love the atmosphere and the servers were all great. Can’t go wrong with any of the items on menu!

There is no better way to recover from a 10k than to eat Korean BBQ. This meal really hit the spot in so many different ways. While eating this meal, I felt like every muscle in my body was relaxing and I was smiling from the inside. Watching the staff grill the meet for me, I felt like I was in paradise and I could not stop salivating(ok, not really haha). In order to qualify for Korean bbq, you must order at least 2 meat dishes. My friend and I shares the beef combo for too. The dish comes with a bunch of stuff that I cannot remember the name of except that it was really good. Seemingly each beef dish got tastier. The grill is also very different from other K BBQ places I’ve been to. There is a circle outside of the grill where you pour egg yolk. And then you watch your server grill, grill, and grill some more :). The only thing I would say took away from the experience was the side dishes. Besides the kimchi, I honestly wasn’t a fan of the other sides. I didn’t like the salad. It had a sesame dressing which I wasn’t really a fan of. The other side dishes were just okay. I would definitely return again so I can continue feeling like a princess :)

Mapo Galmaegi is a relatively new Korean barbecue restaurant based from a popular chain in Korea. Its located right in the heart of Flushing which means delicious and good value BBQ without venturing into Murray Hill Korea Town. The chairs here ingeniously doubles as storage after removing the lid to the seat. This way your clothes and bags won’t smell like smoke. However, the ventilation is already really good as it is so you won’t smell like meat anyways. I like this Korean BBQ restaurant because of their combo deals. These allow you to try a bit of everything without costing extra. The two they offer are beef and pork. We ordered the beef combo(89.99) for 3 people which consisted of: — Prime Rib Fingers — Paper Thin Sliced Brisket End-Point — A Choice of Prime Beef Boneless Short Rib or Prime Beef Rib Eye Steak — Mapo Marinated Prime Short Rib — Boneless Short Rib Sushi — A Special Grilled Medley(pumpkin, mushrooms, rice cake, sausage, shrimp) Everything was high quality and the waiters cook the meat up to their recommended doneness. The best parts were the marinated short rib and the rib eye. If you are weird and came here not to eat meat, there are plenty of appetizers and noodle dishes to choose from like spicy rice cakes Dukbokki($ 10.99) or seafood pancakes Haemul-Pajeon($ 14.99). I had a good impression from my first visit here. The meat was high quality and the service was friendly and worked their butt off. Room on the tables is scarce so eat fast or else there is no room for the next course or other dishes. The prices are about the same as your typical Korean BBQ joint but it is worth it for the convenience, service, and quality. For more info and pics, visit:

Definitely want to come back again! You can put your clothes inside the chairs. Service is great, they will cook the meat for you. We ordered pork combo $ 50 for two. It’s a great deal and their meat is fresh and taste great. Especially the skirt meat that is awesome! They can also cook egg with kimchi on the side. It’s special and taste good! The side dish is just okay that you can skip it.

Decent place. Came here two times and both times we were pretty happy with our food. With that in mind, I don’t think this is The place to come for the best korean barbecue. First time we came, we had the seafood soondubu. It was decent. Definitely not the best. And we had the spicy stirred fried squid. And that was pretty delicious. Second time we were here, we had the beef barbecue combo. And that was decent. But again not the best tho. If you want decent barbecue, maybe try mapo around murray hill. They poured this flavored egg sauce around the rim of the grill so the egg gets cooked while you cook ur meat too. That was pretty interesting They give you some side dishes like salad, a few pieces of pancake, kimchi, etc. Less side dishes than ur traditional korean restuarants. But the waiters were not cheap on refilling them for you Like other review stated, the service here is very friendly. And i think most waiters speak both chinese and korean Over all a solid place. Will be back again

The food was great. We had the Jinkkostal(prime beef boneless short rib) and Mapo moksal(marinated pork neck). This is a modern Korean bbq in heart of flushing(right across from the Flushing Macy). All my friends was impressed by the chair stool that you can lift the seating up to store your clothes

Definitely go for the meat combos! They have a pork combo for $ 40ish and a beef combo for $ 50ish and both combos basically include 3 types of each type of meat. We didn’t know so we stupidly ordered two dishes of pork(since they said we must order 2 meats in order to use the grill). In the end we could’ve had one more pork dish if we chose the pork combo. The restaurant was relatively empty when we got there around 5:30pm. So get there before the dinner rush hour(which was around 6:30ish when people started pouring into the restaurant). Looks like business is going well for them! All the servers are quite courteous and friendly. I especially liked that our server, a girl, cooked the pork skirt meat for us by moving the pieces around so they wouldn’t stick and end up burnt! What an awesome level of service! They also didn’t push us to get our checks when we had finished eating. Instead we got up to get our check since the restaurant was soo busy when we left. Onto the food! DONOT order the pork or beef dishes separately. If you’re coming here to experience k bbq, get the combos. Seriously, it may seem a little bit on the hefty side for kbbq but its soo much more worth it than individually choosing meat dishes. More bang for your buck! Unless you’re here for the other dishes they have to offer(like budae jiggae, bibimbamp and your typical korean food). Most expensive pork belly ever I swear; 20 for 4 slices. Yeah each slice cost us 5 dollars each. The size of the plates aren’t that big either, about 8 – 9 in in diameter. The pork skirt meat on the other hand was one of the best kbbq meats I’ve ever had(the other being the galbi @ BBQ Village). It was definitely nicely marinated. It tasted like freshly grilled roast pork or char siu! The egg thing was kinda weird at first since no one really explained what it was but it was pretty yummy too! Although a little hard to get it out without breaking the egg all up. They don’t add gratituity to the final bill but they do have suggested amounts on the bottom of the receipt. And there is sales tax! Next time I go, we’ll definitely be ordering the combos!

New Korean BBQ on Roosevelt ave, grand opening was yesterday! Friendly staffs and nice décor. They have those«can» chairs that you can put your belongings in so it protects your clothes from smelling like Korean BBQ, which to me it’s pretty important because I always come out smelling like BBQ every time I go for Korean food! Food: I didn’t get the BBQ meats, all we got was spicy rice cake and spicy ramen which was both really good! It wasn’t super spicy and they also add additional spice to them Parking: No street parking, might be easier if you take public transportation. Price: price wasn’t that bad! They also have lunch special:) The only complain I have would be the vent, the table next to us ordered BBQ meat and wow, the place smoked up really fast… I ended up smelling like BBQ meats after all lol! Great place, will return next time to try their meats! Great start guys!
