OK, not a huge fan but why not bolster the ratings of a dependable neighborhood business. I won’t eat anything they cook because they are not halal. I do buy logic E– Cigs which they fairly reliably carry. I’ve noticed they’ve gone way upscale with beer selection. They once were the go to spot for 40’s of malt liquor. The other day, I noticed they had a bottle of DT’s. Belgian Pale Strong Ale in a bodega like place on Kissena Blvd? Odd, but a welcome oddity. Maybe I need to get to know the Indians/​Pakis in the nabe, perhaps they’re cooler than I thought, bruv?

The original Mars was a few storefronts down, and it was the best deli ever. Ridiculous prices and their roast beef hero took years off your life but was so. worth. it. Ownership changed hands a couple of times, but it’s still a good 24 hour deli to have in the neighborhood. Prices are still good, and getting a hot meaty sandwich at 3 in the morning is always a superb idea.

Dear Mars Deli, it is one thing to have Koreans take over a Paki deli I grew up with for 15 yrs of my life, but another to wreck their signature roast beef sandwich. If you asked me do I want cheese with it, and I replied I do, then you asked me again in the middle of making it, and I still said I want that cheese… then why wasn’t there cheese when I opened it 30 minutes and 5 miles later???
P. S. If they ask you do you want the sandwich hot, ask them to GRILL it instead of microwaving it (I can microwave at my own house, too!).
