Went to eat here with 3 of my friends as my first meal late in the evening so I was starving. Usually when I’m starving anything tastes pretty good and I’m not picky. We ordered 2 udons, a donkatsu and omelette rice. Udons were alright, donkatsu sauce tasted weird and was way too watered down. And the omelette rice. Just don’t get it. They charge $ 15 for white rice with like 10 pieces of carrots and peas with an egg on top and brown sauce… I mean I can understand if it was a cheap dish, you get what you paid for. But $ 15??? I don’t think that’s right. I don’t even want to try anything else from here at this point. I honestly wasn’t even expecting much from this place but I am never coming back here ever again. Sayonara. :(

We were excited to find a new Japanese restaurant in our neighborhood. We got the 10 course dinner set at $ 50pp. The food was just ok. Some things on the dinner set, I don’t eat(like squid or abalone). The dinner included dessert — coffee or ice cream, however, we were not offered this by our waitress. We were had to ask the waitress about this for her to acknowledge the dessert was included. Additionally, about a week after this, I found out the restaurant charged my credit card twice for this dinner. I called the restaurant, someone took down my number and said they would call me back, but no one ever returned my call. A few days later, I contacted my credit card company to get the money back. A little too much trouble IMO for a so-so dinner.

I came in with a friend today after a groupon popped up in my feed. The food was pretty good I had the salmon teriyaki with vegetables. The glaze was a bit too much for me, but overall good– well cooked and with a good amount of side dishes. The only thing was that it was kind of uncomfortable because our waitress couldn’t speak English and started speaking to us in Spanish(which was confusing)… Also, the prices are above average.

I’ve ordered from this place once and I’ll probably never order from here again. Mind you that I ordered delivery after being awake a little over 24 straight hours and after eating only breakfast that day around 7AM. I ordered delivery around 1PM– so hungry that I wanted to eat everything and anything. I picked Misoya because Seamless listed this restaurant with the shortest wait time + free delivery. My boyfriend and I chose(to meet the $ 20 minimum) the Morisoba and the Oden Udon. Maybe it was because it was takeout but I’ve never received takeout that looked that way. The soba literally looked as if they just threw a bunch of noodles into a tray and called it a day. The soup for the soba was cold and so unappetizing. I took a bite of it and just didn’t want to eat anymore. I decided to try the Oden to see if maybe that would be more appealing to my stomach– but nopes. A lot of the tempura that was in the soup tasted uncooked and super slimy. I like to consider my resourceful and I hate wasting food, so I often force myself beyond what I can handle just for that reason. Unfortunatelt, I called it a night after those two bites.

To all the people who read the negative reviews about the rude waiter, well they got a new waiter! Upon arrival, a female waiter approached me and my party and told us we can sit wherever we want. Shortly, she served us water along with the menu. Prior coming to this place, I had my doubts and concerns in regards to the customer service that I would be getting. But that all went away went my waiter told us she just started working here. This waiter was very nice and she kept coming back to check up on us to see if we need anything else. Free refills for the soup and the appetizers! Now, after all the good stuff, lets talk about the negatives. The rice that they serve with the don and the sushi I ordered were so hard. I ended up eating my don like sashimi… The rice was like leftover rice from the day before… For the price($ 22 for a uni Ikura don, $ 22 for a sushi deluxe set) I paid, I expected rice that are freshly made. Another issue I had was the price on the actual menu and the price on the menu on Unilocal. If you look take a look at the menu that they provided on Unilocal, the Uni Ikura don is $ 18 dollars versus at the restaurant it’s actually $ 22. That’s a 4 dollar difference. Overall, I would conclude that the service wasn’t as bad as its stated on the reviews on Unilocal. But the food is overpriced and unflattering. Sad to say but I would not be returning to this place.

Visited here twice and I am not going back. The restaurant has a great interior and immense space That’s the only positive thing about it. Food is pretty ok, not horrible but not top-notch either. Their rolls, udon and tempura dishes are pretty good. But it was strange that they served ice cold soy sauce for the tempuras. why? Waitress couldn’t answer either. Also the beef nabe, sort of like sukiyaki, I tried. what are they kidding me? They only put exactly 3 pieces of beef! I complained to the waitress and she nodded her head and went in the kitchen. She never came back to our table to give us any feedback. How professional huh. As you could probably sense by now, it is their unprofessional service that really turned me off. When we were seated, it took them about 5 minutes to come back and take our food. Was it even crowded? No. Not many people were around and still there were one waiter and one waitress going in and out of the kitchen, chatting and whatnot. That tall Korean guy waiter… I really didn’t appreciate his manner. When he gave me a check, he didn’t even look at me but demanded me to leave the tip in cash. What the heck! Keep in mind that this place is not cheap either. For this amount of money I’m spending, I feel that I deserve a way better service than the service that they provided here. Unpleasant and downright unprofessional.

Since my fridge broke, I’ve been ordering through Seamless everyday. I keep going back to this place… this is the 3rd time this week. This review is for delivery only. Okonomiyaki — Japanese pancake — is the best item here! They also have takoyaki… not many places in Flushing does. I loved everything I ordered! Oyakodon, udon, unagidon. The unagi don didn’t have much sauce(wish they had more, the rice was kinda bland) but the eel was good. As I’m typing, I’m waiting for them to deliver hehehe. I also like that they come with little tiny side dishes.

They have the best udon in Flushing! Best udon after udon west that used to be on Union and North Blvd closed down. My friend also like their tempura, but I found it very strange that their tempura sauce is served cold! Refrigerator cold! Whenever I go to a Japanese restaurant, tempura sauce is usually warm or at least room temperature. I am only giving it three stars because every time I go, the table are set up with plates that are still dirty. If they can’t see the dirty plates, they shouldn’t dim the lights so much, or should invest in a good dish washer. We sat in the party room a few times, and each time something was still dirty. They either didn’t clean up the table or the plates disgusting or the last party left a «gift»(dirty pile of used napkins) inside the bamboos next to our table. They serve Korean style sushi/sashimi, and the quality are not great. Better korean sashimi are everywhere on North Blvd. The sukiyaki and nobe are essentially the same thing. We ordered both with beef and ended up having two courses that are exactly identical. Tried kaseiki there, and is not that great. Service could use some improvement. They always forgot to bring sauces that go with the order. I had to ask for sauces a few times, and they won’t know what I am talking about until I point to exactly where it says on the menu. It is a big restaurant. If you have a big party and won’t mind mediocre sushi, you can give it a try.

The food was really good. Not amazing or great. But really good. I had the tofu and karaage chicken for appetizer and the beef udon for main course. My review would actually be higher if the overall experience been better. Upon being seated. It took about five minutes before the waitress actually took my order. There were two waitresses and 3 occupied tables including mine so I wasn’t sure what the wait was. Within minutes after I got there it was down to two tables so I was the only table she was helping so it made less sense. To start she didn’t ask/offer me anything to drink until after my main course arrived about 10 minutes after I gave the order. But my appetizers arrived about 2 minutes after I finished my main course. Correct me if I’m wrong but shouldn’t the appetizer come first? The food was good enough for me to go back a 2nd time but i hope the service will be better/faster next time

I order from Misoya pretty often, mainly because their sushi and sashimi never really disappoints and seems to be fresh! I love getting the uni sushi here! They give a heaping amount of uni, but it is kinda pricey. The chirashi and sashimidon are pretty similar dishes, but the chirashi has rice while the sashimidon is placed over a bed of greens! I feel like the selection of sashimi in the chirashi bowl is much more appetizing. The cuts of the sashimi are diced in the chirashi bowl, while the sashimi pieces are in bigger slices in the sashimidon. I had the Set A as well, which I think is pretty worth it. It comes with udon, tonkatsu, shrimp tempura roll and tempura. The udon was cooked nicely with the perfect amount of chewiness and the broth is not too heavy, but flavorful as well. The tonkatsu is alright; it gets by, but I wouldn’t really say it was amazing. The tempura is lightly battered and not too fried, so I really enjoyed that because it wasn’t too heavy! As for the rolls, I feel like they’re always pretty fresh and well made with a good rice to every other ingredient ratio. It’s a minimum of $ 20 for delivery, but it’s kinda pricey here so I think it’s easy to rack up a $ 20+ bill for delivery. I wouldn’t say their delivery is slow, but it’s not the speediest either. Regardless, I still order from here pretty often!

I have mixed feelings about Misoya. I went to go try it out with my mom for the first time about 2 months ago. I had a groupon deal which was great! Once we got there, I was surprised to see it was located in a basement level. The place was very clean, calm and cozy. The waiter was very attentive and checked up on us almost every 10 minutes, which was a little too much. But to be fair, we were practically the only ones there on a Sunday afternoon. The food was just okay. We ordered the beef udon and seafood udon hotpot. It looked really good once it arrived. The boiling seafood hotpot presentation was elaborate. The taste was just average and nothing too special. For me, the seafood udon had way too much scallions in it. It should really just be a garnish or flavoring instead of the main«vegetable». If I didn’t have a groupon, I would say it would be slightly overpriced for a bowl of udon. Overall, I’m on the fence. Maybe the other dishes on the menus would be better?

Misoya is a Korean-owned Japanese restaurant that has been in my area for a few years now, but I only stopped by for the first time a few days ago because of a Groupon. Thank goodness I had the Groupon though. Misoya’s previous location was small and looked like your usual simple restaurant set-up. Its new location though is beautiful. Descend a staircase and you’ll be surprised by the spaciousness. They did a great job decorating it to look like a swanky Japanese restaurant: soft lighting, wooden furniture and accents, and bamboo and other plants scattered about. Even the restroom looks modern and awesome. Sadly, entering Misoya was the best part of the night. Service = 3⁄5 My friend and I came on a Wednesday night, so it was pretty dead aside from two other tables. Even so, it took a while for the lone waitress to come around and take our order. And then she forgot one of our dishes. At least she took it off our check, but still, tsk tsk. Otherwise, water and side dish refills came pretty often. Food = 2⁄5 I was intrigued by their«hot pot», so I ordered the beef nabe. The set was pretty nice: apparently in Japanese hot pot, you dip the cooked ingredients into an egg yolk for flavor. The hot pot itself didn’t really need extra flavor though because it was really savory… thankfully not to the point where I felt the need to chug water right after. I do wish they had more variety with the ingredients: half of the«veggies» were onions and scallions, with a smattering of bamboo, mushrooms, peppers, and carrots. It wasn’t bad… I was just not impressed. Their side dish selection of pickled cabbage, burdock, and zucchini was just okay too, as was the side salad that came with my order. There was also a clam side dish that would’ve been great had they cleaned it better: even my friend could hear me chewing on the sand that was in my dish. Their miso soup tasted great upon first sip but got so overbearing with sodium by sip #5 that I had to stop. Overall, mayyybe I’ll come back one day just to try the udon… but I’m definitely using the Groupon again. Otherwise, there are so many other options around the area that you’re not missing out if you don’t come eat here. Side note: Is this Misoya affiliated in any way with the Ramen Misoya near St. Marks? I feel like their logos and the sodium levels are the same.

1. They are on groupon 2. It is super spacious downstairs 3. The interior reminds me of a spa I came here on a Friday night and was surprised to find that they were so empty, but that’s fine by me since I don’t really like waiting too long to be seated. The waiter seated us right away even though we told him we were still waiting on three more. He brought out some complimentary appetizers for us to eat while we waited for the rest of the party to arrive(some pickled veggies and corn chowder soup). For the price you pay you do get a lot of food. The tonkatsu is good, the karage(chicken appetizer) was bland and I would not get it again, the chirashi bowl was alright but I felt that it came with very little sashimi slices for the price, the snow crab roll and dragon roll was good, the fish cake udon was good and the Japanese pancake was delicious.

Japanese/Korean cuisine located on this basement level restaurant. I heard recently the place was renovated, it appears new and has nice spacious seating. When we first sat down they served us tea, banchans and a small cup of congee. I never had congee served to me as an appetizer but it was warm, tasty and comforting. The banchans were tasty as well. The menu offers set menu dinners for 2 up to 4 people. We decided to order the Set menu«A» which includes udon, tonkatsu, mixed shrimp and veggie tempura. We also order off the a la carte menu the octopus balls and a tuna hand roll. The tonkatsu was a little dry and did not have much flavor, the tempura was lightly fried and ok, the udon was served nice and hot, but the broth was a bit under seasoned. The tuna roll tasted fresh and was quite good, but the octopus balls were more dough than octopus. Overall the entire meal was OK, not the best or worst. The service staff was nice, but at times seemed nervous and unsure what to do next. Great Groupon deals also make this place very attractive.

So I really loved this place and their set menus back in the old store. When they closed I was disappointed and then heard they reopened at a new place but have not had the chance to try. Recently, I saw that they deliver to me via grub hub so I ordered… Curry katsu, dukkbokki(spicy rice cake) and kara-age. I got a call that they no longer serve dukkbokki which really disappointed me. So I opted for fish cake udon… Can’t really go wrong… I was very disappointed that the kara-age was such a small order for $ 11… And the fish cake udon was a small order too($ 10). I think the only thing kind of worth it was the curry katsu($ 14)… Saddens me to say I won’t be ordering delivery from them again but I will probably give them a try at the restaurant.

It’s a Korean owned Japanese restaurant in Flushing. The place is nice and the setup is very appealing, but the food wasn’t very good. Honestly, if this was the first time I tried sushi, it still would have been disappointing, I think cooked food might be the better option. The two positives were the décor and service. Side note, I don’t make a bid deal out of this, but the male bathroom was a train wreck. The food: Unidon– Sea Urchin over rice. This was OK at best, the Uni was weird since it came out very sauce like, instead of chunks of Uni, it was like an Uni liquid. At least the flavor was OK. Large Plate sushi– Crunchy roll, spicy tuna roll and assorted 18 piece sushi. Rolls were edible but they were basically what you would think of from a non Japanese made roll and the side of pickled garlic seemed rather odd. The assorted sushi wasn’t very good to the thickness of the slicing, to rice, to quality, I was pretty disappointed. This wasn’t a very good representation of Japanese cuisine.

We ran into the owner of this restaurant about two months ago when he was in the process of moving from one location on Northern Boulevard about a block away to the new location that is just off Northern Boulevard and 157th Street. This past weekend we came back to visit Misoya. The owner was the sweetest guy ever. He gave my boyfriend and I a tour of his new restaurant. He is in the middle of renovating while being opened for service, understandable. I saw what the owner is going to do in the back with private rooms for private parties. It’s nice. I can’t wait to see the spaces after the renovation is complete. As it goes, the restaurant is HUGE! When I asked about the tea, what it was made of, the owner gave us a small box of roasted barley to take home. That is so generous of him. He is sweetest restaurant owner ever. There is a language barrier but we made it work. His restaurant is fusion between Korean and Japanese. Upon sitting we were given some banchan, which is korean cold side dishes that are served traditionally with your meal in a Korean restaurant. It is usually something with kimchee or pickled stuff. We were served pickled daikon, seaweed salad and one other thing that was pickled and delicious but I had no clue what it was! Everything was served on beautiful plates. I was staring at all the plates. We had ordered a combination meal called Set B which consisted of 2 udon, donkatsu(pork cutlet, omelet rice, assorted tempura including shrimp, squid and sweet potato, spicy rice cake, a bowl of watermelon cubes after the meal and then we were presented with an icy shaved ice dessert to share. The shaved ice dessert comes with the set meals. My boyfriend and I didn’t know… barely could eat another bite. Because the set comes with 2 udons, we assumed it was for 2 people. Let’s just say I have lunch today! Set B can be more for 3 – 4 people. We were stuffed!!! Set B is $ 35 which is a really good deal. I really liked the banchan, the udon, fried tempura, and rice cake. I didn’t get to even try the omelet rice yet or cutlet! My boyfriend and I can’t wait to come back. We are already planning to bring a Caucasian friend here next week. I hope she will love it as much as we did!

This place was amazing. We walked in and were a little nervous as the place was completely empty, but we sat down and we were greeted with such friendly service. The staff here is amazing, with very attentive service. The chef/owner kept hovering around us, but I think it was his creepy way to make sure that we were happy. He even brought us a complimentary appetizer. This place is a mix of Korean and Japanese food. So they had the complimentary appetizers that a Korean restaurant normally has. They were awesome. Then with our food we had miso soup, which was amazing. I believe they had some fried fish in it as well. For the actual meals, I got a beef udon. It was delicious. The beef was thinly sliced and tender. My brother had a katsu don which was very flavorful. Afterwards we had some of their shaved ice which was also very delicious. Would definitely recommend coming here again!

Came here with a groupon one night with my family. The three of us were expecting some good udon based on the Unilocal reviews, but it was disappointing. First of all, the groupon was clearly $ 15 for $ 30 with no restrictions stated, but the server told us that the groupon is only good for udon and rolls on the menu, and it was clearly the owner’s decision. With that said, the groupon is not good for anything else. After we ordered some food, server was cleaning the table next to us with some sprays. The cleaning smell was not appetizing at all. We also wondered that even though they cleaned with cleaning supplies, some of the cups and utensils look kinda dirty and old. So we ordered a yaki udon(stir fry udon with shrimps and veggies), a rainbow roll, a hotpot udon, and a omelet rice(not deductible from the groupon). Yaki udon was ok, it was quite spicy, like korean hot pot stew spicy. Rainbow roll is normal, although the full price is a bit too high; hot pot udon has a really light broth, the broth was supposed to carry all the essence of the seafood that were in there, but the miso soup actually taste better than this broth. My omelet rice is pretty boring, there’s no meat(which I am not complaining), but the sauce is also not flavorful enough. Overall, the food is in average, the service is fine. I wished they have specified more clearly with the groupon situation and make the place a bit more comfortable so that my meal is more enjoyable. I was really hoping this could be a place I can come whenever I want a comforting bowl of udon, but I guess I still have to go all the way to Manhattan for now.
