Really enjoyed our dinner here. Servers were kind, daenjang chiggae was delicious and the sides were plentiful and varied. Would definitely come back.

I love this place. HIDDENGEM. It’s small and family run and everyone is super friendly. Not only that, they have side dishes that uses seasonal ingredients. Very well thought out and made with love. I once had the pleasure of dining here while the owner was receiving produce deliveries and she looked at every box and did a thorough inspection and made complaints about some and complimented others. I appreciate this type of dedication. And it is evident in the food. I come here when I crave my mom’s Korean cooking. It’s like eating her food. Please do try their ssambop jungshik. The variety of greens they bring out is phenomenal. She also sells her side dishes to go. So if you want to buy anything in larger sizes just call the restaurant and let her know in advance. If you’re craving knife noodles or soojaebi. This is a great place e to get it. It surpasses all the other soojaebi specialty restaurants. Owner always thanks me for not leaving leftovers. And I always ask her how can I leave leftovers when the food is so delicious? Sometimes she’ll have this special tea instead of the typical barley tea. I’ve never had it before and it is quite delicious. I asked her what it was and she said its gobo tea.(It’s a root vegetable that she’ll also sometimes have on the menu served raw and seasoned with chili and vinegar.) she slices the gobo. Air dries it. Then toasts it on the stove then boil it with water to make tea. What dedication!!!

This is one of your typical Korean restaurants. The service was friendly and was unique because it seemed most of the patrons were on friendly terms with the waiting staff, to the point where our waitress was enjoying a beer at their table. The menu can be a bit overwhelming because the English translations of the food do not do the dishes justice. If you are craving something specific, just ask your server and they will recommend something. They do stock up on the complimentary banchan, which is always a plus. Alcohol selection: Kloud, Hite, Coors, various Soju, etc, My friends and I arrived on a Tuesday afternoon and comfortably enjoyed our time and drinks without being hassled by the staff. The food did not blow me away, but it was satisfying and definitely a good experience.

It was OK. Not the best Korean food I’ve had. We came here for lunch on a weekday and ordered their bulgogi and their daengjiang jigae(soy bean paste soup). Both tasted decent and their side dishes were very fresh however the bulgogi we were served were all tiny little pieces like if they were shredded. I looked at the people next to us who also got bulgogi and their beef looked was all fully sized pieces. So I felt like they probably served us some of the left over ones. And it was also way too sweet. Other than that service was ok. There are just way too many good Korean restaurants in flushing for me to come back to this one again and give them another chance.

O.G. Korean. Brought my out-of-town parents to Myung San based on stereotypes of it being a no-frills joint with loud ahjussis and free-flowing soju. They were right. Ultimately, it was a down-home restaurant with homemade quality food — no better, no worse. You know a place is old school when the banchan includes spicy raw blue crab. Kalguksu was thick and toothy, and thankfully less salty than Japanese and Chinese noodle joints tend to offer. Family enjoyed their spicy seafood stews and doenjang jjigae, though they mentioned that they could probably whip this up themselves if they had the time. Alternatively, bulgogi was actually pretty poor — thin, dry, and somewhat overcooked. Best experience was watching the 2015NLCS between the Mets and Dodgers on the big screen, with the game narrated by drunk Korean dudes for the benefit of their wives. Next stop, Sik Gaek for some stupid human tricks!

I got the Ssam bap meal like many other people have suggested and I was quite satisfied by the selection of greens to wrap my mediocre meat around. The meat itself was nothing special at all. I do not like the vibe in here as there were a group of obnoxious korean ajusshis screaming and yelling during my entire stay there that made conversing with my friend impossible. To make things worse, my friend ordered soondubu jigae which was very underwhelming. There were way too many raw onions, diced too largely, which took away from the experience of trying to enjoy the soft tofu. The dish came out too under salted. I would prefer to go to Hansol Nutrition Center any day over this place.

Food is decent but I received a lot of attitude from the waitresses. I ordered the bibim bap which, on the menu, said it came with beef. Apparently no waitress felt like telling me it didn’t come with beef. I also ordered some soup with kimchi and lo and behold it didn’t come with kimchi. They need to fix their menu because most of the listed ingredients are not included in the final dish. When I brought it up they gave me quite a bit of attitude claiming«authentic versions» of this food does not include these ingredients. Other than that the food is decent.

Came here with the fam today when we were craving Korean. Let me just start by saying that most Korean restaurants in the area are closed on Sundays and we were caught off guard. So when we found this place open it was a nice surprise. We got the pork casserole, seafood noodles and bibimbap. All great dishes. One thing tho, the bibimbap came with raw vegetables and I was not expecting that. It was still good tho.

Been eating Korean food for 10+ years and this was, by far, one of the best and most authentic Korean restaurants I’ve been to. Reminds me of my gf’s grandma’s cooking — unapologetic with the garlic, chilis, and fermented goodies. They even serve an exceptionally noisome stew of which its name roughly translates to «corpse soup.» Old school patrons always seem to order it, so be advised, your first impression of this place might not be pleasant. Half of the times I’ve been here involved me walking in and scrunching up my nose because someone’s eating it. Went here October 2013 for a birthday dinner. Party of 20. Ordered everything in advance. We were the only non-Koreans there, which is a good sign. Bo ssam(DIY pork belly lettuce wraps) was an excellent starter. One order normally feeds 2 to 3 as an entrée. We also had some slow cooked(medicinal?) chicken and duck which were interesting but incredibly bland, even with the salt that came with it. Good texture for my toothless uncle though. Fish stews and soon dubu were on point. The star of the night was the kalbi jjim(braised short ribs). Lots of banchan. They scale the selection of banchan according to how much you order. We had a huge party so we scored some pajun, steamed egg, and one other freebie I can’t remember. Ample parking by the LIRR stop. Gets busy some nights.

This is the best Korean restaurant in Flushing! If you are craving for homemade style Korean food, I highly recommend you to check this place out. My friend and I ordered ssom bop and the portion was good enough for 2 people.

I think this is the best Korean food I’ve had so far in NYC, simply for the authenticity of the food. There’s nothing really flashy or corporate about this place, yet this humble hole in the wall stays true to the Korean staple foods and are so expertly executed. They have all the foods you’d expect to find in home style cooking, Kalgooksu,(kind of like a Korean chicken noodle soup), galbi tang(beef short rib soup), yukaejang(shredded beef soup), tteok mandu gook(dumpling soup) etc… Pretty much all their banchans(side dishes) were on point. There wasn’t a single one I didn’t like. They’re not cheap or stingy with the sides either. They bring out the good stuff like the preserved little fish and potatoes. From the sides to the dishes, to the barley water, everything here tastes like it was made with love. God bless you Myung San. God bless your sweet soul. They’re not about that hype, they’re just making some true and real Korean food. Stay trill, Myung San. Geez, even the big waiter who looked like a G had the biggest smile on his face. Someone is doing something right here.

Love this mom and pop style restaurant where the owners/workers remember you and give you an extra dish of some kind of other goodies just for being a regular here. All their food is top notch, and tastes just like how my mother would make it. It definitely doesn’t taste like it’s had MSG dumped in their food like many of the Korean restaurants in flushing. The place is a bit small so it can feel a bit cramped, and the crowd is usually a bit older and mostly consists of Korean older men. But I can’t get enough of the authentic taste. Love their service and food, what’s there more to ask?

Awesome Korean food. Great ban chan and amazing jung shik dishes. We ordered the ssam bab jung shik() and go deung uh jung shik() which were both on par with what you’d get in Korea. There was enough food for leftovers, which I swiftly finished off the very next day. Service was fine this type of establishment. It wasn’t too crowded either. Right off the train station so convenient to access if you’re coming in from Manhattan. I’d definitely go back for more.

Awesome experience. I’ve been to many restaurants in flushing and k town and I can comfortably say this was the best place I’ve ever been to. Excellent taste and quality, I’m definitely coming back here till I’ve tried the whole menu. A word of advice, don’t get the LA Galbi. It was kind of flavorless but honestly, this place is not for hardcore bbq. There’s a billion other places for that. The casseroles were dynamite so I still have this place 5 stars, something I almost never do.

This place makes you feel like you’re in Korea. I haven’t had Korean food this good since moving back to the U.S. after a few years in Korea. We got the grilled mackerel set, the cheonggukjang(stinky soybean paste stew) and the spicy pork ssam bap. Each dish was amazing. The flavors were really clean, the vegetables were very fresh, and there was such a good variety. The banchan were delectable. It was cheap, too! You really can’t go wrong with this place if you love good Korean food.

Small, home-y kind of restaurant. I ordered the Soondubu($ 11.95) and my hubs ordered the Galbi Tang($ 14.95). Since the Soondubu offered was a seafood variety, I asked if there was any way they could also add some meat. The nice waitress said it would be no problem, and added some strips of beef to my Soondubu. At first I thought the food was a bit pricey, but with the service and the above-average Banchan(that is, korean appetizers… they even gave us a small plate of a korean scallion pancake which was delicious), I thought it was worth it. I will definitely return!
