Primo Amore Italian Restaurant

I love this restaurant. The waiters and staff are friendly. The food is really good and consistent. My father is very old school Italian and never went out for Italian meals. I am thrilled he now enjoys going out to eat at Prima Amore and enjoys their welcoming manner. Rafael and Freddy are great waiters.

The overall look and feel of this place is welcoming. There are few locations in this part of Queens that have their own parking, and this is a plus. The selection of dishes is vast, and the price fix meal is very accommodating to all budgets. The portions are more than sufficient, and the quality is tops.
The staff is very helpful, and knows the specials, and the dessert selection is also pretty good.
For a Friday night dinner with the spouse, or a sit-​down with the family, it’s a good place to go.

This is still not my favorite.
We actually ended up having our rehearsal dinner here and although it was already a high stress night – they didn’t make things any easier. When I had spoken to them prior to booking they assured me of the set-​up for the night of the RD as I wanted to be in a horse-​shoe shape so we could have all of our wedding party sitting together for an intimate gathering, however when we arrived the tables were totally separate and when my husband and I offered a compromise of just putting a small table at the end of the two larger tables to join them, they refused. The food was OK but nothing spectacular.
We went yet again for dinner and again – standard Italian food. I had the mozzarella en carozza which is always delicious (it’s fried mozz… what’s not to be amazing) and the chicken francese which was a bit thin and mushy for my taste. Honestly, both my husband and I left that night feeling sick in the stomach. Not sure what it was but I don’t think I will be subjecting myself to it again.

I can’t say anything bad about this place at all! It’s nicely decorated. The waiters and staff are pleasant and fast. The drinks are made very well! The menu has awesome choices and the specials are plentiful. The prices are very fair. You get what you pay for and we were very happy with our meals. 2 fresh roses on the table make a great romantic touch. Had to steal one and give it to my girl!
I will be going back soon and strongly suggest this place everyone!

Just came from dinner at Primo. Have been there many times and never disappointed but tonight I ordered the Zuppe de Pesce and it was amazing! I couldn’t stop until the dish was completely finished. The service was excellent in spite of it being a very busy evening. I so highly recommend this restaurant. Consistently good food, great staff, and reasonably priced. Bueno!

Been patronizing the restaurant for decades. Food is wonderfully made, and very creative. I like their lunch menu, as the prices are great.

Went to Primo Amore with my family one afternoon for lunch. I had eggplant parmigiana, caesar salad (the anchovies were so good), a small pasta, rice pudding, and a coffee for $ 17.00. I think they do that deal for lunch Monday through Thursday. The food was so good and the price was awesome!

We came on a weeknight and enjoyed the price fix menu. Service was excellent, portions were decent size and excellent quality. Some things that stood out were the eggplant rolletini, Chicken Marsala and the red sauce is great! Very good old school Italian cuisine. We will definitely be back. Oh parking and full bar are a big plus!

We came for our friends daughters 6^th birthday and ordered from the pre fixed dinner menu. The price was great and so was the food. For appetizer I got the mozzarella in carrozza which was mozzarella melted in between bread and deep fried, for the main entrée I got the penne alla vodka with chicken and dessert the tiramisu. My friends ordered Fried zucchini, Eggplant Rolatini and Cold anipasto for apps. Entrees they got the Chicken Parmigiana, Spaghetti and meatballs and Cheese Ravili. For dessert they got the chocolate mouse and flan. We loved everything! The workers were so attentive and nice. They brought the birthday girl her dessert on a big plate designed with mango, raspberry and chocolate sauce that had the happy birthday writing it was so pretty. They lit up a candle and sang to her.
Love this place and will be coming back. They also give you a basket of bread along with their flavored olive oil.
There’s also a parking lot in the back and a full bar!

I would have given more stars but I am knocking down a star because of what happened when I first walked in. We were seated and had to wait for menus. In an empty restaurant. I requested menus and the waiter/​manager? just held his hand up to me in a «shush» manner and just stood there. Not getting the menus. No he was not busy. He was just standing there. Took a whole 5 minutes for him to get it. The whole holding his hand up and forcing us to wait while he stood around not doing anything was just so rude I even contemplated just getting up and leaving but I was so hungry and I had my mom with me who was also very hungry I decided to just bite my tongue and wait. That whole spiel just put a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the meal.
However, the rest of the time was fine. Food came out quick– the restaurant was empty after all so if it took a while I would’ve been pissed again. I had the linguine with clams– it was very good. Hate when it’s gritty and sandy and it wasn’t here so they had that going for them. My sons spaghetti and meatballs were nothing specials. My moms chicken Marsala was average as well– lot of times this comes out dry but it wasn’t too dry here so that was good. The bruschetta was soggy– so I did not enjoy that. Maybe they should serve the bread and topping separately so it won’t sog the bread. The bread was definitely nothing special and in dire need of flavor. Unfortunately no butter or balsamic was given with the bread.
They had a separate lunch special menu so prices were decent.
Will not be returning.

I’m an Italian and so very picky about Italian food. Most of the women in my family were excellent cooks and I can finally say I’ve found a taste of home here. My fellow Unilocalers did not lie when they highly recommended the eggplant rollatini. It was absolutely the finest I’ve had and would have been quite happy with a plateful. I also had the pasta with romanesco sauce, which was delish. My party agreed that the food was really good. Worth a try if you’re in the mood for homey Italian.

Service and food was amazing!
We threw a baby shower for my co-​worker here and it was great. The staff was attentive and pleasant. They explained entrees and provided suggestions. Water would go down and they filled it up quickly. Appreciate that. With a large group we had a prefix menu. Bruschetta, Eggplant Rolatini, and chicken parm was all delicious.

My annual Christmas luncheons are always held here. This is a nice old school Italian eatery with a warm vibe. We always order from their Prix Fixe Lunch Menu. The menu offers a variety of items including a choice of each: Appetizers, Entrées, Coffee or Tea, and Ice Cream or Cake for Dessert.
They offer a bread basket which I always skip. The bread is too hard & flavorless. I do partake in the tasty Bruschetta that they serve as well. The food is always amazing & satisfies my palate. The food always comes out in a timely fashion.
As an appetizer I had the Eggplant Rollatini. My entrée was Chicken Parmigiana with a side of Broccoli & Potatoes in Garlic & Oil. Against my wishes I ordered the Italian Cheesecake for dessert along with a Green Tea & Lemon. You get all of that for a nice steal at $ 14.95 per person.

I came here for dinner with my girlfriend and her mother. Staff was very friendly and attentive. The three of us ordered from the Saturday Pre Fix Menu for $ 28.95 and we all had the Sole Francese. My girlfriend and her Mom had the Eggplant Rolatini and I had the Caesar Salad. She said the Rolatini tasted just like a Manicotti and when I shared it with her, I was more inclined to agree. We couldn’t really decide which flavor ice cream we wanted, Chocolate or Vanilla, so our waiter simplified matters by each giving all of us a mixture of Chocolate and Vanilla. A nice atmosphere combined with the musical sounds of Tony Bennett and Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons made this wonderful eating experience worthwhile and automatically prompted me to book a reservation on February 14, 2015.

I came here for drinks and dinner with co workers. Staff is very friendly we had a great bartender Gino he was awesome. We had the shrimp linguine it was so delicious !! Nice atmosphere beautiful place for family and friends to come enjoy great food

Love this place. Great food, great staff and relaxed environment. No rush on eating. Just take your time kinda place. We love it.

Great homemade Sangria!
Came here on a whim. My BFF and I coincidentially have seen this place and both of us had wanted to try it. They have a great Pre Fixe menu for 21.95. You get appetizer, entrée, and dessert. It’s your basic Italian food. I ordered Eggplant Rollatini for app– delicious! I was sad when I finished eating it! LOL! Sole Franchese for entrée– very good, generous portion.
Then the dessert selection comes out! Waiter brings us a tray of about 15 different choices– it was so overwhelming because everything looked «to die for»! I ended up choosing a Tiramisu and BFF chose an italian cheesecake. Cheesecake was little boring compared to everything else, but the tiramisu was a pretty good choice.

Food and service are always good. I have been here several times with family. The food is excellent. The dining room can get a little loud when it’s busy. Their early bird special for $ 22 is awesome. It includes an appetizer or soup, full size entrée, dessert and coffee. Great deal if you can get there on time. The early bird ends at 7 pm.

Service was friendly, but sort of slow. It took forever to get the check since the staff seemed to disappear after dessert.
As for the food, it was better than I had anticipated. They do fried items well; crisp and well seasoned, the fried zucchini was delish as was the fried calamari. The baked clams were so so, they lacked flavor.
Tortellini served in a cream sauce were good, but nothing special. The chicken dishes (francese, marsala) were quite good and came in large portions. They were quite yummy and the chicken was cooked well so it was juicy.
The wine list was decent and included some nice Italian options.
The flan was creamy, but was sitting in a sea of mango sauce so it threw off the flavor a bit. The amaretto cake was OK, a little on the dry side and lacking a little flavor. The chocolate cheesecake was quite decadent.
A good neighborhood option for a solid meal.

Went on a typical Thursday night around 8pm, there were maybe four other two-​top tables in the restaurant. Was greeted by small television screens and potato chips at the old wooden bar when we first walked in. The atmosphere was cold and quiet. The hostess eventually greeted us and we sat in the main dining room. We sat there for a few minutes, a waiter comes to drop off the menus, waters, and bread. The bread was average, free bruschetta was the highlight of the evening, key word free. The bruschetta itself was nothing special.
We ordered beef carpaccio and two pasta dishes, the description of the dishes looked promising. It took them way too long to serve the pastas, no sight of the appetizer. Maybe it just takes longer. The pasta itself was cooked al dente, but the bolognese sauce could be less salty. Half way through our meal I asked about the app, the waiter says he’ll go take a look, and does not return with a response. Eventually we finished our pasta and asked for our check.
Service was lacking, food was mediocre at best, if you really want pasta, maybe go to your local pizzeria and order some food there. Perhaps they are more attentive if you are here with a big party (bigger revenue), but I’m not going to personally test out that theory.
