Definitely been to better karaōke places. No service and microphone was a mess all while playing a limited selection with japanese movies that hand nothing to do with the song on the big screen.

I recently went here this weekend and it was a group of seven of us. None of us were Korean and Asian but we have been to the Asian style Karaōke joints in Flushing/Bayside before. It is on the corner of Northern and Parsons in a small shopping center with parking — please be aware that you can only enter from Parson’s Blvd as its one of those lots with angled head-in parking only. There is also plenty of street parking nearby. We had no issues finding someone who spoke English on the Saturday night we came here — there were about 4 young workers(in early to mid 20s) working the front lobby area and they were really friendly and helpful. One of the guys came in and showed us how to use the all Korean controller — You just basically have to learn how to search by artist or search by song with the on screen display OR you may punch in the song code from one of the song books in the room. It’s a lot simpler than I am making it sound :-) The room they put us in was very spacious and everything was clean and in working order(mics, karaōke system, etc). We had a slight issue where the echo was cranked up to max and we couldn’t figure out how to navigate the Korean settings menu but the same guy came back and fixed it in 2 minutes. There are clean bathrooms in the front lobby(I used the Men’s) and they also sell water, juices, and beer I think. There may be snacks as well but I am not certain as we didn’t order any food. This place may seem intimidating to non-Korean/Asians — the karaōke system is not in English and they always answer the phone in Korean — but they do have English speaking staff and you can just ask if they speak English on the phone and they will get someone on the line for you quickly. I would definitely go back and highly recommend to anyone looking to scream their lungs out… but only in front of their friends!

Went today and it was really fun! The room is as cozy as it can get. The owner(or I think it was the owner) was really nice. We went there with 3 people today and it cost $ 20 per hour for the whole room(for high school students anyways) and it was like $ 25 for 4 people, $ 30 for 5 people and etc. The Korean songs are very well updated, and it’s better to find out what you want to sing and to know beforehand the Korean letters before you go because if you don’t know it, it’s going to take a while before you can find what you want. A word of a tip, if you want the newer songs, look towards the back because that’s where it’s most likely to be(unlike other Karaōke places where the newer songs are in the front or in another book). The remote’s in all Korean but it was easy to figure out the basics of the remote like skip, next, enter and volume controls. Definitely coming back here again next time! :)

There are many rooms that can accomodate various size parties, whether it’s from just a few friends, to a whole group of people, Star will have a good sized room for you. Some of the rooms will have tamberines and disco lights(woOOooOo) ;P You have control over the light control, so you may make the«atmosphere» as dark or as light as you want it. The remote is in ALL Korean, so if you are an English speaker, it might be a little difficult to use the remote. It is kind of self explanitory to input the songs, but it still took my friends and I a few minutes to figure it out. The English song selection has NOT been updated recently, but they do have their fair share of old songs which your friends can rock out to. Some of these include: «Half Way There» «Milkshake» and of course, your classic Journey songs. Their Asian song selection however far superceeds their English song selection. I’m not sure if you can bring your own food/drink :(They do sell expensive beverages though(non-alcoholic I THINK!) — not sure.
