Came here with by brother from another mother. Genius beer selections. Someone should bring the beer out in summer. Cool-cat views from the top floors. Sat at minuscule tables and enjoyed family company. Missing some bar snacks; nuts, pretzels — come on guys! New York is way ahead of you. Just can not beat an old-Western style deck and full bar.

My friend was sexually assaulted here at a concert on 11⁄6 and the bouncer told her to find someone else to complain to. I couldn’t even call them to complain because the phone number is disconnected. I tried repeatedly. I suggest not going here.

Yeah, I wasn’t impressed. I ordered a Bloody Mary. The bartender was friendly up until the point where I asked if she put horseradish in it. Her reply was«do you want to make it?». I don’t mind a bartender with humor, but sarcasm does not go well with service, especially when you deal with public. I’m not sure why a question would push her button, but it really was not necessary and made the stay undesirable to me. This was my first experience there and maybe that’s her humor, but not good for first impressions. Won’t go back and I’m sure they won’t miss me. p. s. the bloody mary was super salty, could hardly drink it … yuk.

I’ve been coming here on and off for many years. There’s always a good time to be had here and always an interesting mix of peeps, ages, and behaviors. There’s bar seating, some high top table seating, stand up counter that seperates the dance floor from the bar. A patio/deck out back with a tiki full bar outside with the smokers and break-takers. Over the years, I’ve learned that anything can happen here. Pay attention and look around; there’s people watching maximus available on Friday and Saturday nights. It’s a fun bar that can get really crowded. On weekends, expect a live band and all kinds of dancing on the dance floor. I’ve never run into any trouble here nor had any problems with patrons or staff. Everyone is generally friendly and if not, they leave quickly. It’s easy to spark up conversations and make new temporary best friends. There’s no hotel here. It’s a bar and maybe a few apartments upstairs in a building that used to be a hotel.

Great dive bar with a dance floor! Fun little old Folsom provides a great pre– evening with restaurants and shops. And a great chocolate store for a small dessert snack! This bar had a great live band and perfect area to dance. TIP: Get there early and avoid the cover charge. Fyi, drink prices go up once the band starts to play. Fun time for sure!!!

Dance… dance, dance. People watch, drinks spilled, silliness and antics abound. Isn’t that what it’s all about!!! You go to this bar for fun, not husband hunting, duh!

I think of the hotel as the one place that you can still get into when you’re too hammered for anyone else to take you. Say, for example, if it were your 27th birthday, and you had VIP service reserved at Scarlett’s, but then they didn’t let you in because your wonderful friends fed you more than a bottle of wine at The Cellar– I’m not saying that I know anyone who did this, but if I did, I’d bet she’d still be able to get into the hotel. Pro-tip: Drinking copious amounts of wine at home so that your stomach will not have room for hard liquor is NOT a good strategy for staying sober. There is always live music here, the drinks are usually pretty stiff, and the kitchen is supposed to be amazing, but I wouldn’t know, because I may or may not have had an embarrassing incident while making copies for the chef when I may or may not have worked in a copy shop. The outside area out back can be kind of romantic as long as it’s not too crowded. There’s an additional bar back there, heat lamps, and usually a table and chairs where you can sit and talk and actually hear each other. The inside ambiance is not bad, as long as you don’t mind that you WILL be getting down with some crazy grandma with platinum blonde hair and white platforms. Every time. Pro-tip #2: Hot guys like to come here after Giants games. I don’t know why. Don’t question a good thing.

I like Samuel Horne’s better, this place is kind-of a dive, not crowded for a reason.

Friendly and easy going place to stop in and have a few drinks. Can’t speak about the food but bartenders have always been on point and give good customer service.

This place is really what you make of it. I went there with a date and the dance floor was empty. On Wednesdays they have a blues band that comes up and plays a few songs. I love to dance. There was a much older crowd there then my age, 22. But I took my date out to the dance floor since they were playing some classics. Within 10 minutes the dance floor was too small where at first it was too big. Every one loved us so much they didn’t want us to leave. Bottle specials on Wednesdays I believe 2 – 3 bucks for bottled beer I had a great white. Chill place to go, especially during the middle of the week. The site said open mic so I was hoping to hear some artists from the area but it wasn’t correct. I’m not too fond of parking in this area but the place can’t help that. With some good marketing this place can be the spot everyday if they do it right. Tons of potential.

When this place is good, it’s great. But when it’s slow, FML it’s sucky and boring. I’ve only experienced one good night here, every other time has been a miss. Nevertheless I have a great time all the time. Bartenders have always been nice and it’s usually a friendly crowd.

Great service! Bartenders were super nice and yummy bar food. Unfortunately Friday night was meet up for 60 and over or something. Never seen so many elderly folks making out and freakin all over the bar! lol Watch out youngsters because these elders are out to get some! Definitely going on a Saturday night next time.

If you’ve been to the this spot for a cocktail or two, you gotta stop by The Broken Kitchen that’s in the back. Food is suuuuuuuper good! We tried the Pulled pork tacos– pork was nice and crispy with Mexican crema on top. A definite try! Crispy quinoa sliders– I was really impressed, if you haven’t tried quinoa before, try these! Fresh house-pickled jalapeños on top. A real must try! The green chile burger– it’s all about roasted green chile! Well and that fried egg! Try it! Chef is really nice too! Prices are very reasonable! This spot is a hidden gem! Also vegetarian friendly!

Went here this past Sunday to grab a drink after work. Loved the laid back atmosphere, and the female bartender was really friendly. We ended up going back after walking around a bit because we liked it so much. There was a different bartender this time and he was really sweet too! Both bartenders made awesome Dirty Shirley’s, and the prices were not bad at all. Definitely going to make after work drinks here happen more often!

I have no idea what this place is like on a Saturday night, but I know that it’s a chill spot to grab a delicious Bloody Mary on a Sunday morning. The juke had some good tunes, the bartender was friendly and not stingy with the liquor, and the bathroom was clean(no humping going on in here this early, LOL).

Due to some unfortunate circumstances, I have been visiting the Folsom Hotel again lately and I am very happy to report that things have changed, for the better. The owner is no longer in he barr all the time, in fact she is hardly there now at all. The food is the best they have had there for a number of years. The bartenders are great and they have added quite a decent beer selection now. And the Wed Night jam session with Fire and Wheels is amazing. The band is made up of Sacramento band royalty, Steve Wall from the Beer Dawgs, Steve Stizzo form Mumbo Gumbo and the former bassist from The Fryed Brothers. These guys can play. Lots of great musicians come to sit on Wednesdays including blues harp ace Kyle Rowland and bout every guitar slinger in town. So, the HOTELIS back and I dig it now.

Fun bands, good vibe, many ages. Good place to go with a group of friends. Bad place to get hit on — I was hit on by a creepy young guy from West Virginia and was asked if I was pregnant the next time I went. Can’t a girl just get a drink and dance?

As a long time Folsom resident and frequent customer at this bar, it pains me to write this review. I had my first legal drink in this spot, I won’t say how many years ago. I have frequented this bar for quite a while now, and I have to say in the last year it has changed… for the worse. I remember a time when this bar held a great variety of people, all different ages, styles, cultures, etc. Now, it looks like a frat house exploded on any given Friday or Saturday night. It’s as if Powerhouse and Scarlet’s overflow to the hotel now. You’re completely overrun with Affliction tshirts, backwards baseball caps, and girls in mini skirts barely covering their crotch. As for the drinks/bartenders — I apparently also have been served by the young woman mentioned in another review(unless this is a prevalent issue with multiple young women here). The whole time we were at the bar, she was either texting, or talking to just one person at the bar… ignoring everyone else. And the female bartenders here need to be a bit more generous with their pouring. The ONLY time I get a drink here that I can taste any alchohol, is when a male bartender serves me. The two guys behind the bar that have worked here a while, they’re fantastic. They are personable, attentive, and make a good drink. The female bartenders here, not so much. The one gal that left for a while when she had her baby(can’t remember her name), she’s wonderful… I miss her. Seriously, put your phone down when a customer walks up to the bar, and make a good drink since your prices have gone up, and you now charge a surcharge to pay with a credit card. Also, what’s with the constant beer issue at the bar? They are ALWAYS saying they’re out of stock, or they don’t have any more cold in the bottle we’re requesting… this seems to be an ongoing issue here. I wish this place would go back to the old ways of doing things, pour a better drink, get more live bands, and get your old clientele back.

It has been hit and miss at Folsom Hotel(but the live porn show in the restroom today took the cake) — depends on who is behind the bar. We dropped in on Saturday evening early, thinking we were going to grab a bite to eat — no go, the kitchen was closed and the young lady behind the bar, who is more concerned with texting on her phone next to the cash register, did not know when it would be open. OK, no problem, we went across the street. see review. So we order up our drinks, score right? They had my ice cold Schlitz long neck — but I guess the one customer at the bar kept her busy because they had neglected to restock the bar and that was the last cold one. OK, no biggee, there is always PBR. so I went to the restroom. no paper towels, and to quote the young lady«I don’t know when or if we are going to get any». No big deal, that is what my pants legs are for. so the deal breaker is. see below. We were enjoying our drinks and in comes the one bimbo, cute, but bimbo no less. and three or four guys — hats on backwards, loud, having a good time. good stuff.the bimbo was trying to get her grove on, doing a little dancing for her men, or man. what ever.my wife goes into the rest room a few minutes later and BAM. bimbo is bent over in the one stall in the restroom taking it from behind like a champ. so the wife patiently waited until the dude pulled up his pants and bimbo cleared out so she could use the restroom. so one star for piss poor service and management, and one star for the free sex show. If you are the young lady in stall — the wife says more power to you. but make them wear a condom!
