Subway

I have gone to this Subway probably since they opened but am seriously concerned about their lack of appropriate infection control practices in the preparation of food in the «back room» and by anyone not «making sandwiches».
When I was having my sandwich made by a very nice woman who has been there a long time, another woman kept coming out to the deli area and refilling bins without wearing gloves.
Out of my concern for the food handling and infection control, I asked the woman why she was not wearing gloves, she told me that she was not making sandwiches and therefore, by the Health Department requirements, anyone working «in the back», was not required to wear gloves.
After paying for my sandwich, I looked into the back room which was directly behind the cash register area, only to see a man picking up tomatoes with bare hands, putting them through a slicer and then taking them out with bare hands.
I was grossed out and very concerned about their lack of implementation of appropriate hygienic and infection control practices.
I will not return to this store even though I have enjoyed their food and people who work there for years.
Prior to this experience today, I would definitely given them a 5 star rating but my experience today made me sick, just thinking of the potential outcome— as Chipotle is dealing with today even though they wear gloves at ALL stages of food preparation, as it should be.
I should have said that I do have serious concerns as described above but I hope they will change their practices and I will then look forward to going back because the employees are extremely nice and very willing to make great sandwiches which I love.

Do the words stylish and Subway belong in the same sentence? They do in this particular Subway shop, with subdued colors and faux brick wallpaper, instead of the typical gaudy décor from years ago.
Friendly and efficient staff prepared our sandwiches in a sparkling clean environment. Located adjacent to a gas station and car wash, and on the way to Folsom Lake, this is a go-​to place for food to-​go!
