We found Whispering Springs when one of the courses we were going to play had a league going in the morning. Let me tell you… This was the find of the year! The greens and fairways were in perfect shape. The place is covered in sand bunkers(green side and fairway) so be prepared! The sand quality is really nice and allows you to blast out easily. Staff in the club house were super friendly and understand that it’s about the experiences people have. What I mean by that is we were making the turn and a senior women’s club was going to start but the pro made them hold off until we made the turn. Not so sure any other place would have done that for us. All in all I loved the course, one of my new favorites in the area beating out my previous favorite the golf club of Camelot.

I live in the DC area, which means that for $ 50 you can enjoy a complete dog of a course that will likely be very crowded. Of course this biases me to favorably review any course that costs less and doesn’t look like the Navy just used it for target practice. But even with that bias, I argue that this course is a heck of a deal. Each summer our family heads to Wisconsin and I try to get to this course as much as I can. It is well groomed, the greens are good, the layout is challenging but fun, and there is a wide variety of holes. The people are really nice(of course people from Wisconsin have the nice gene in spades). I don’t remember what I pay each time, but I did feel guilty that the pro shop didn’t charge me more. A couple of times I’ve played another 18, and the fee was ridiculously cheap(again by my standards). This is as close as affordable«championship golf course» as I’ve ever played anywhere. There are better courses in the area, but I’ve yet to find a better value.
