never been to a bar that wouldn’t toss out a bad drink barely touched so a customer could purchase a higher priced drink paying the difference. the bartender was extremely pushy and they acted as if they were incompetent without the owner. the grey goose feature was great too bad i didn’t order a second due to the lack of customer service…

**Brunch Time** Their Cocktails were great. They have a great selection of beers. Service was okay. For food, I would stick to Station house. Do avoid the mac and cheese, it was terrible. Great for watching sports including soccer/football. Mussels dish was very good.

This pub has a sun roof, and high-backed black tufted bonded leather alcove seating. It also has some decent grub. Tried brunch on a Sunday and this was perfectly decent.

I didn’t love this spot. It’s supposed to be a beer house, but all they had on draft were the same usual beers you can get any any restaurant. We ordered a cheese plate and meat plate. It took forever to come out — what’s the point of ordering an appetizer if it comes with your meal? I had a burger — it was ok, not cooked to order. I asked for a medium rare, and received a burger cooked somewhere between medium well and well. For a same-old same-old beer menu, burger not cooked well, the price tag is not reasonable. Bummer.

Came by here on a Friday night after smoking hookah in xhale to grab a couple of drinks with friends, and we had such a wonderful time! We wanted to sit at the bar, but couldn’t because it was full, however we were immediately seated on one of the dinner tables, and a few minutes later our server arrived to take our orders. Everyone was pretty friendly and the ambiance was perfect for a Friday night. But not too loud, to the point where you couldn’t communicate with the person sitting across from you. The drinks were amazing and the service was so fast. Our server kept checking up on us, brought tissues and offered to refill drinks as soon as we finished. Don’t see any reason to give this place less than 5 stars, definitely will be coming back!

Was there Friday night with 3 of the most miserable bar staff serving us. I tipped 30% on a $ 100 for fun and still got no smile or even a hint of gratitude.

Stopped in here for the first time yesterday with a few friends. I will admit I was a little leery because of some reviews on here but we went anyway. I was very impressed with the bar, especially the draft beer options. There were over 20 available and a nice variety. The bartenders were friendly and attentive and we were there for happy hour(oh happy day!). When we sat at a table to eat, our server was a little off-putting. Kinda short with us and seemed annoyed(over what I have no idea). I recommend the following off the menu: Cannonballs, The AP Burger, Steak Frittes and the Shepards Pie. Overall, the atmosphere is nice and its not too noisy. If only the server was a little more friendly I would have given this place 5 stars. I do recommend if you are in the area and need a drink or two.

I had a good time here and have zero complaints(more 3.5 but I’m going to round up) We were a large party of 9 and were promptly seated when we arrived. The music was spot-on with the DJ playing some great dance music. The service was decent and we ordered a ton of food and drinks and everything tasted decent. I mean this isn’t award winning Michelin star or the best gastropub food you’ll have in your life, so keeping that in mind: the flatbread was yummy, AP sample platter has everything in it that you need if you’re group eating(calamari was disappointing — but I digress, I have never been satisfied with calamari). Nachos weren’t so great(I’ve had better nachos at taco bell). The dark n’ stormy was delicious. I would come again with friends if I’m on Austin street because it’s certainly a better time than Station House and Exo, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get here.

My friends and I like to come here for Trivia on Wednesdays. Food is average but they have a great selection of drinks and beer. Service is pretty good too! Will definitely continue to come back just for trivia and beer.

Came here for drinks after dinner on Friday. Nice décor and space. The bar area was packed so we asked the hostess for seating for just drinks. She directed us to the bar area where she noticed a group of people were leaving. Still no seating. We stood around with the bar tender not acknowledging us. So we went back to the the hostess and politely asked again to be seated at a table. With a huff she took us to an area and sat us down. Our waitress was a bit short with us and didn’t didn’t seem happy either. I understand that tables are meant for patrons who order food. However, we were not the only ones seated at a table and ordering just drinks. In any case, their beer selection was expansive. We tried kwak beer which came in this cool shaped glass and wooden holder. Overall, cool spot.

The food was really good– we had the caesar salad with salmon(pretty darn good!) and breakfast potatoes, bacon on the side. Service was close to terrible and I didn’t think they were that busy. Good beer selection, lots on tap.

In the voice of Michelle Tanner from Full House… HOWRUDE!!! I read the mixed review prior to going but since we were celebrating a birthday I decided to go anyway. I had a great first impression of Austin Public. The big bar and old fashioned décor caught my eye. They had booths and tables at which most were full. We didn’t come for dinner just drinks so we went to the bar. Every seat was taken but people were crowding around the bar area. We flagged down the bartender and ordered ourselves some nice ice cold brewskies! What a great selection of beers both domestic and imported I tell ya. Here’s where it all went down hill for me… da da da dum! My husband had just passed me my tall and full beer when a waiter quickly passed by me and hit my arm. Beer fell all over the floor, on my jacket and dripping down my arm! He turned around said sorry and continued to walk away. Actually he was practically running to get to the other side of the room! JERK! A minute later he passed by us again. I said excuse me but can you get me some napkins. You spilled the beer all over me and the least you could do is get me a napkin. His response to me was well what do you expect me to do I am working here. Boy did my blood boil!!! I bit my tongue and took the napkins. No customer service! He clearly does not know how to treat customers. The bartenders are nice. They all have awesome foreign accents! One bartender made me a delicious jolly rancher shot. Around 10PM a live band played. They sounded really good! Austin Street has many bars and restaurants. I am not going to bother coming back here again.

My best friend and I went out for dinner last night to celebrate me passing my board exam! He picked out Austin Public because apparently Sunday nights are Karaōke Nights. Oh and this place used to be the Johnny Rockets on Austin Street. I have to say, entertainment wise, this place is pretty neat. It’s a 2 drinks minimum to go up and sing…(however, waiter said it was ok if we just ordered dinner). We ordered the Parmesan garlic wings, skirt steak and pepper on a flatbread, and a burger. Overall, the food was ok and it was mainly typical bar food. I say just come in on Sunday nights and order some drinks and sing some karaōke if that’s your thing.

The food was good but the service not so much. I was there Sunday afternoon, the place wasn’t that crowded so why did I wait for over 10 minutes without a waiter taking my order or even pour me some water. I had to ask the hostess to get a waiter. I was so annoyed. I ordered fried calamari and the skirt steak Flatbread which was good. The only reason I gave them three stars is because the and cocktail was good(their saving grace). Please Austin Public, step up on your costumer service before you have no costumers !!!

I was there one Friday night, it was packed ! I kinda expected better from this place. For one their food is highly priced. 3 small chicken tenders for $ 10!?! And an order of fries for $ 6?! Seriously. On top of that my friends ordered wings, and there was a hair in it. The worst part is that one of my friends pulled the hair out of her mouth, yup she felt it while she was chewing. It was disgusting. I’m never going back. If you do go please inspect your food before eating and walk with a good amount of cash. The waitress that night also had an attitude … And things that she’s «not allowed» to mention, she did. Which made me feel uncomfortable.

I use to go to Austin Public. Cool spot, strong drinks, decent food and great service. The music is always great and ladies night drink specials were always awesome. Only thing is sometimes I dont like the crowd there, a little rowdy. But they have a cool trivia night and bands that come play so its usually great. Shantelle is awesome, as are the other employees whose names I do not know. Overall you should def try this place out, and if you aren’t into the loud, crowded scene, try getting there early and avoid weekends.

horrible service! manager was a bitch! waitress was extremely rude and unattentive; never checked on us; didn’t even fill out waters when she had a pitcher in her hand. we waited 15 minutes for our check, in which the waitress overcharged me for my glass of wine she said was on happy hour; & the«manager» refused to fix it! the waitress thew the check on the table, and then the manger insulted me while she was smoking a cigarette outside! very unprofessional food was horrible will never go there again… plenty of other places on austin street, don’t waste your time or money

Great better-than-pub food, excellent prices, friendly service, and a perfect atmosphere! The feel is «Irish pub» but the food is more diverse with unique takes on pub classics, like their Cannonballs, which are deliciously fried tots stuffed with corned beef, Parmesan, and cheddar cheeses. The mixed cocktails are great with a selection ranging from a perfect Old Fashioned to cucumber martinis. The prices are moderate and they always seem to have a happy hour of some kind going on. Fantastic selection of beers on tap if that’s your thing. Highly recommend for nights out of two or six, because while there’s always a decent crowd, the tables are spacious, there’s never a wait(they were able to accommodate our group of six immediately without a reservation), and the great music(90s rock, current hits, some classic rock) is never too loud.

When my friends’ dragged me here for new year’s eve I was super annoyed because getting here via public transportation from deep in southern Brooklyn is the worst. However, this place was worth the trip even if it meant not seeing my beautiful bed until 4AM. Since it was NYE you had to order food to get a table we ended up getting appetizers only since we already had dinner and dessert somewhere else before heading here. They have typical bar food options here like nachos, quesadillas, burgers etc and the food here is tasty. Enough grease to absorb the alcohol you’ll be drinking but not so greasy you feel sick. Prices here are typical. All my friends got a cider they all really liked, I can’t comment on that due to my beer/hopps allergy but I thought it was worth mentioning. Their drink prices are reasonable too and they had some fun options, I really liked the apple martini it tasted just like a jolly rancher. Our server was really fun and towards midnight they gave us little party favors like hats and noise makers. Nothing special but it was a nice gesture. They played good music here but it’s not really a place for dancing. I took my bracelet off to wash my hands and I forgot to take it back and I ended up never finding it but the staff tried really hard to help me find it, so did another patron here so I appreciate that. It wasn’t overly packed in here but there was enough people in it to give it a good vibe. At one point it was late and I fell asleep on top of my friends and the waiter came by to make sure I was okay and if I needed a cab called for me so it’s good to know that they watch out for their customers. We did come back here for Mardi Gras but it was so cold that day of the year they ended up cancelling whatever they had planned which while understandable was a little disappointing. But, we made the best of it and decided to stay a little while. They had a special Mardi Gras menu which was cute. The guys stuck with regular bar food but I ended up getting waffles with fruits on top. The waffles were tasty but not the best I had, I’d probably try something else if I came back here.

Second time here! I’m here today to watch the Rangers game and to have a brunch. First of all I will not come here for the Rangers game on weekends, definitely going to the city! For brunch my friend had omelette platter he liked it OK I guess he ate it all without complaints. I ordered the Irish platter :(consisted of two eggs, grilled tomato 2 bacon, 2 sausage, and something called the black and white pudding. I asked the waitress what it was and she said its porky sausage and blood, I asked her if I can have bacon instead and she said she can just give me white pudding which is just sausage, I said OK. I did not like my breakfast it’s not their fault! I love bacon I cook them to three times a week. And I like my Jimmy Dean sausage. I do not like Irish bacon sausage and white pudding! Brunch wasted :(:(:(:( The water glasses were dirty and very linty! Still coming back for some good beers snd sports watching

Things have become very stingy here. My friend ordered a drink she didn’t like and still had to pay for it… I’ve never! Then we asked for two pieces of bread(you heard…2…yes two) and they had the nerve to say they were going to charge us. REALLY??? after they took back a terrible $ 11.00 drink, that we are paying for, they couldn’t give us two slices of bread? I miss the Whistling Pig swagg. Note: I asked for a manager and was told he was not here. Sad, I used to like this place as a late nite hit. Oh by the way, they gave us the 2 slices of bread after the request for the manager. … not impressive at all. And they have little bugs flying around. Our Server was great and seemed to be trying to be heloful.

I came here to watch game 3 of the World Series, what a game! Sat the the bar. The drink list is extensive which was appreciated. I think the beers were pricey, I heard people saying $ 6 for a bottle of bud light which is nuts. Bar staff were very friendly and attentive. I love that they give you a shot with your check(although I, like most patrons were way too done to have it ;) I wasn’t a huge fan of the food — the salad I ordered was small and boring for the price. I didn’t come for the food though so this wasn’t an overwhelming disappointment.

We had brunch there earlier today for the 1st time! The décor was awesome!!! They’re definitely ready for Halloween so they get two stars for the decorations! The service was not the best, not sure if our waitress was having a bad day but she seem moody and annoyed the whole time till she brought us the check. I think it was the 1st time she said Thank you with a smile but the whole time she just didn’t seem happy. We were very polite and even tried breaking the ice a few times to see if we can make her smile but then felt stupid because she gave us that look of «you’re idiots, let me just do my job» one waitress that was helping her was super nice and wished we had her instead. The food was ok! Not sure if the service spoiled the whole experience but won’t be returning to find out anyway

I’ve only been to Austin public twice, and it is a while a go, so this review like many others are long overdue. My experiences as Austin Public has always been mediocre. The service was ok, the food was ok, and I left feeling like I’ve had an ok time. They manage to seat people fairly quickly even without a reservation if You are a little bit flexible which is a big plus. Most nights it gets pretty crowded around«prime-time» and you will find a nice group people in all ages. You see it from the streets even if you don’t go in. For my part Austin Public just doesn’t have that wow factor that makes me go back. It might be because I’ve already found my favorite watering-hole and pub-food restaurants in FH. So for my part it does not live up to the hype.

Perfect pub food !! Got off the first 4 cars of the LIRR in F Hills with two 14 year old and ten thousand other hungry Ed Sheeran fans. Looking for a satisfying nosh before the show at the Tennis Stadium. Took a left on Austin Blvd. and found ourselves at a Gastropub that we actually had a great time at about a year ago. Although Lee said that the Unilocal reviews were not overwhelmingly enticing, we were quick to grab a booth in the front window that had some daylight peeping through. I must say, everything exceeded our expectations. The girls shared honey BBQ wings which were plump and saucy(11 bucks) and a nacho grande, also very good. I had an old favorite, a Cobb salad(14 bucks) and it was one of the best that I have ever had… field greens with a great dressing, herbed grilled chicken and a perfect amount and balance of the usual Cobb was just the right size, not too much. Another order of garlic Parmesan wings and sweet potatoes fries rounded out the meal with almost too much food. Carafes of ice water, a good pre show vibe and attentive service from Shah = a delightful choice in Forest Hills. Make it a point to visit if you are in the area. I left out a review of brews on this visit, see photo for an above average list.

«Easy breezy» This bar/restaurant is pretty standard for the night that I visited. The mixed drinks are well made and there is a decent selection of beers on tap. The space is huge and I would imagine that Austin Public is very popular on friday and saturday nights. Plus, On Tuesdays there is happy hour all day and all night. Next time I am in the Forrest Hill areas, I will return and hopefully try the food with my liquor.
