This was my first Indian cuisine restaurant and this may have ruined my experiences for the next. The food was overpriced. $ 15 chicken tikka masala? Bro I could get halal food for $ 5 and be just as full. The food took forever to make, granted that we had 20~ people in the party, there should be no excuses to how late the food was and how loud our tummies made noises. The 2 stars that the restaurant gets is because they let me charge my phone behind the register(but when I went to retrieve my phone, it seemed like they might’ve tried to open it?). In addition, the samosas and the garlic naan were top notch(even though they cost like $ 5 a dish). Oh! How could I forget the wonderful Indian music being played live in the background. The man beating the drums had a nice shade of orange for his hair. The man singing was pretty decent too, except half the time I was wondering if he was just making random noises. Anyway real rating: 2.4÷5

Awesome location. Loved their food very fresh and great flavor. I order the paneer sagg, chickpeas, garlic nan, and vegetable samosa and enjoyed each bite. Portions are also very generous. Best part is they deprived up to 3 miles from their location, but it’s worth eating in if you’re able to the décor is very nice as well!

Okaish food quality, decent service and extra points for ambience. We used to go to this restaurant as students in NYC, 4 years back when it just opened it’s doors. I feel the food used to be way better then.

I really really really like this place. The food tastes amazing. I usually order Delivery since I get home from work and whatnot and can’t quite make it to the place whenever I’d like to have this delicious food. Service is usually ok, food arrives in 45 – 60 minutes. There have been times where food takes 1 hour and 30 minutes to arrive. One time the food arrived over two hours after I placed the order. However, as much as I love this place and the food, I can’t have it as much as I’d like to because every time I order, I always request that things be made Mild. I order this food to share with my mother who happens to be very sensitive. Originally, Whenever I ordered that all the food be made mild the food arrived just the way I wanted it. But now, no matter how many times I request it, The food comes too spicy. Since the food is too spicy, I can’t share with my mother and therefore it’s not really worth paying $ 30 for it, specially for one person. I’d love to continue enjoying the delicious food from this place but if they’re just going to ignore my requests as a loyal customer, I simply can’t.

Great food(buffet) and awesome staff. For anyone wanting to try Indian food or simply misses home cooked food like I do, I would strongly recommend this place.

This place used to have excellent food. I don’t know what happened but it has really gone downhill. The food is really really really oily to the point where its not a sauce anymore. Its literally all oil. On top of that the chicken they use are stringy and really poor quality. Stay away and try others that also deliver.

I went to an event recently. The management was not adequate. Guests were not being attended to as necessary. The servers preferred to bicker instead of being courteous to the guests. Overall the owner needs to be less stingy with the way she handles her business if she wants to stay in business.

Horrible delivery. After waiting 45 longer than I was told, our food arrived. We were so hungry, guess no one noticed the extreme amount of salt until it was too late. I woke up multiple times in the night to get water, and had bloated salt hands/feet for two days. Never mind the salt– this was the most mediocre Indian ever. Traderjoes frozen section has more flavor. Bad food, bad delivery… With options, why go there?

The food is 3 – 4 stars. Although good food, but I had much better. Service is 5 stars. Service was well and prompt. Cleanest is 3 – 4 stars. Wish they can change the table clothes each after each customer instead of just changing the paper on the table. My clothes was so dirty.

It’s sad that Haveli hasn’t gotten its act together. As other reviewers have mentioned, staff is disoriented, all over the place and as a result the service is dreadful. I went with some relatives at the end of February and not only was the service surprisingly slow, we also got the food for the wrong table. In addition, we explicitly ordered some chutney along with some delish nan bread. The bread came well after we were done with our meal. Slow, confused, disorderly, maddening. One shouldn’t have to suffer through all those things to have amazingly good food. And the food is, as usual, superb. Just order online and avoid the hassle.

I came here for restaurant week and the night was going well and I was also enjoying my meal until I ordered a second glass of wine and there was a dead cockroach on my wine glass. The server was obviously not paying attention if he had the audacity to pour wine into that dirty glass and then proceed to walk it over to my table. I was absolutely disgusted. I definitely was not going to leave a tip but when we were leaving the waiter started yelling at my boyfriend saying«where is my tip». I was ready to curse him out but my boyfriend is a gentleman and gave me a look to relax; he tipped him $ 5 and the waiter sighed in the most ungrateful manner.

Food: 3 – 4 stars. Service: 1 star. Went here as we were craving a curry and as there’s no other Indian restaurant in the neighborhood. It’s massive(an event space with beautiful murals) that can hold about 100 people. I think they run it as a restaurant when they don’t have other functions. There were 4 tables &4 staff. Staff are all over the place, running around, confused most of the time with the exception of one waiter. We were given two different menus, then another completely different menu, a person trying to take our order when we didn’t have any menus, the bill being given once and again while the first person went away with the card; in other words staff don’t seem to communicate with each other. If we do decide to eat here again, it’ll definitely be take out as the food is decent.

Our go-to for Indian cuisine in Forest Hills is Haveli. The usual for us is chicken tikka masala for my husband, and the chicken shai korma for myself. But, if he is in the mood for spicy, he will order chicken vindaloo with a side order of tikki masala sauce. $ 14.00 Chicken Shai Korma(Chef’s spices, almonds, ginger spice-infused cashew sauce) $ 14.00 Chicken Tikka Masala(grilled chicken in creamy tomato sauce seasoned with fenu Greek ginger) $ 14.00 Chicken Vindaloo(Portuguese Vinha d’Ahlow influenced chicken cubes, vinegar, garlic, and group spice) $ 04.00 Onion Kulcha(naan stuffed with diced onions) $ 03.50 Garlic Naan(naan drizzled with freshly minced garlic) $ 02.00 Side of Chicken Masala Sauce

One of us really love the chicken tikka masala. $ 11.95 for an all you can eat Indian buffet surely just made him all excited. We stopped by here for lunch with our family. The place is pretty big. It’s like a banquet hall. Nicely decorated. The food quality were definitely really good for the price you paid. They also serve you a fresh naan, which was soft & delicious. Service was good, our water was never empty. Very attentive! Highly recommended! For $ 11.95, it’s a great deal! Good quality food & service. Weekdays lunch buffet is only $ 9.95, which is even better! We’ll definitely go back!

Unfortunately the Sunday buffet I sat for turned out to be not what I had expected. The Unilocal fan fare held strong at four stars for as long as I has been wanting to check Havalli out, were talking the better part of a full calendar year. Huge, spacious dining room, clean and quite regal upon entering. But as I found my seating, unassisted, I peered at the hot buffet tray count which totalled 8. Now I do understand that your really not going to get the most out of an 11:00 — 3:00 brunch when you show up at 2:15, however… The dishes not been torn through with reckless abandon only held a few morsels and no restock was on the horizon. Worse yet, I felt the food was Americanized Indian, toned down and muted, bland and frankly boring. King Fisher was out if stock, I blame the delivery company, as that was how it was explained in all due sincerity. The mystery spicy Indian mixed drink would have put the face of any casual drinker flat in the naan, but alas, I’m a pro. But wowser was it potent. A return trip will most definitely be in my future plans, I’m sure that I just caught them at an odd time.

Very rich and delicious Indian food, though it is a little pricey when you’re not going for the lunch buffet. I’ve never actually been to the lunch buffet, but it looks pretty good and I’m sad that I’ve missed out so far. Guess I will have to put it on the Unilocal 2015 to-do list. The chicken tikka masala was good, and the naan was quite pillow-y. I also recommend the mango lassi. It was thick and creamy, and was really almost a meal on its own. The only weird thing is that the place is an «outrageous banquet hall» as per Kent C.‘s review, and I’d have to agree. It’s a little weird to sit an have dinner in a voluminous hall with chandeliers and enough space to host a legion of people. All right, that’s a bit of a hyperbole, but it’s a really really big room. Bottom line: if you’re feeling Indian food and you’re in the area at lunch buffet time, definitely check it out.
