I went for the gun range which is only 10 $. However I was scared as soon as I walked in. I guess there was a CCW class and one of the students was walking around the store with his finger on the trigger of a pistol. The Range is not air conditioned and is in the worst condition possible. Then an employee came over to me walking around with his gun and started questioning me while i was shooting. I would never consider going back. The Range part of this place needs to be shut down. It is NOT safe.

So the only reason this place gets a 3, is because they’ve got a gunsmith on site which is super convenient, and the fact that I can’t comment on their fishing service/sales/products because I have never gone to Bill Boyd’s for that purpose. I went here for the first time for the shooting part of my armed security license education, and shot on what I can easily say is the worst range I have ever experienced. First of all, it’s only got 5 or 6 lines… therefore I suppose you could encounter a wait time just about any day of the week. (Our class took about 5X longer to complete for this reason, however I don’t blame Bill Boyd’s, I blame my school for choosing this place) The roof was leaking water in several different places. To remedy this, they placed buckets and Tupperware to collect the rain. The power went out several times, luckily however, power came back on after just a moment or two. Believe it or not, the range itself is not ventilated or climate controlled, so it’s unbearably hot, humid, sweaty and your eye protection will consistently fog up on you. The lack of ventilation also set off the fire alarm in the next room, prompting one of the staff to accuse my classmates and I of smoking indoors. The only thing that kinda helps is a NON-oscillating stand fan, which is also a problem in itself because it blows your target all over the place. I can say that the staff I encountered were knowledgeable with the guns/ammo side of the business, but that is the ONLY accolade they receive on the customer service front. They were subtly condescending, rude, and just never seemed to have even a slightly friendly disposition. Every handgun I looked at was a tiny bit overpriced. Their range ammo is a weird brand I had never seen before, but I report zero problems or complaints with the ammo.

Ok so I’ve been to a lot of gun shops over the years. Way too many for someone originally from Mass. SO my rating of this place is based on their customer service, the fact that they have a competent GUNSMITH on premises and a cheap pistol range. The place isn’t fancy and it’s new gun prices are average, but the folks who work there are very nice. I’ve been several times now and I haven’t had to interact with any assholes.* The gun smith fixed two rifles for me and his rates were very reasonable. ALSO– they offer the concealed carry class every Saturday at 1PM for $ 75(I took it at Bass Pro Shoppes and paid $ 125). * For the uninitiated, gun stores are frequently staffed by weirdos. Not weirdos as in gun nuts(as I firmly fall into that category) but weirdos as in a sub-variant of gamer-comicbook store herbs. The weirdos in gun stores often give off that registered-sex-offender vibe, are condescending and enjoy giving you unasked for advice. BUT I haven’t encountered any at Boyds.

Out side in the parking lot you will here shots. That’s because it is a gun range and they sale fishing necessities. A nice young man helped us out with finding bait. He was so knowledgeable and professional he new everything we didn’t and that was alot we didn’t know.
