Terrible food, terrible attention. Very disappointed. It was a good reference for great seafood until now. We waited more than one hour for tasteless food.

Waited 1+ hour for the appetizer to show up. We walked in at 2:00PM. It is now 3:29 and still waiting. Awful service, never coming back again.

If you don’t mind eating shrimp poop, be sure to check this place out. So ammatuer for a ‘seafood restaurant’ whose main attraction is SHRIMP to serve coconut shrimp without deviening them. I guess they figured no one would notice until you bite into it and see a long black poop hanging out. The server was great though! He was the only saving grace for this place.

We had lunch at the Las Olas Blvd location, to start I loved that the. Kids menu included Bbq Ribs to change the ever present pizza, burgers and chicken fingers!!! I ordered the sweet-spicy shrimp, it’s on the starters menu, but it’s so big you can easily have it as an entreé, which I did! Super flavorful and spicy in a bed of salad that made it a semi-light meal without knowing it. The other dishes were all good as well, very big portions!!! So keep in mind! The server, Aly, was the greatest, making recommendations on dishes that were completely correct and even saved us some money by not ordering too much!!! She got the difference in the tip for her :) The only issue we had was the lack of cleanliness, as we were in the outside tables, swarmed by pigeons feasting in leftovers from un clean tables and floor Which is why I don’t give them another star. Leaving 2 tables without being picked up throughout our whole lunch shows a slow staff or lack of cleanliness policies. Sorry Bubba Gump Las Olas, but need to clean up more!!! Food was great!

Don’t expect anything special at this restaurant. It’s in a great location on Fort Lauderdale Beach, and the people watching is great. This was my first time at Bubba Gump’s and unless my tourist visitors from out of town REALLY want to dine at this place, I probably won’t be back. A friend and I came here on a Saturday evening. Even though almost all of the tables outside were empty, it still took 5 minutes for the hostess to check in with someone to see if we could sit out there. Uhm, as far as I can tell, no one else wants to eat here… let us sit wherever the heck we want to. The service was average. Seriously this review is hard to write just because I don’t even know what to say. It’s average all the way around, and boring. I ordered Lt. Dan’s Drunken Shrimp. The sauce was tasty, the shrimp and sausage were LACKING. Seriously I got like 6 shrimp and probably 8 pieces of sausage. At $ 18 for this plate, not worth it. My friend ordered the Shrimper’s Net Catch, ½ garlic and ½ Cajun. While there was plenty of shrimp, the flavor on these suckers wasn’t there at all. They were plain and my friend dunked her shrimpies in my sauce since I ran out of food. We each ordered a glass of wine, which was average. Their take-home glasses seem cute for tourists though. Average and boring for this place. I have no desire to go back. The tourists are keeping this restaurant alive because seriously there are sooooo many other fantastic places in Fort Lauderdale.

The ignore us for a like 20 minutes. Tables around us were taking care of faster. No water offer, no second drink offered, no recommendations on rinks and food for a tourist place the service is below any restaurant, specially tourist like me and my family come to spend money and experience the unique bubba Gump couture. The«order Takers“not confuse with Servers .! We walk 2 miles for this specific place to have a experience !

Food is ok. Go for the grilled shrimps or the gumbo. The fritters could be a bit sweeter but they do have a lot of seafood in them. Perhaps a tourist would enjoy it more. Overpriced… However, it has good service with an amazing beach front view.

Excellent experience other than the hostess seemed to be a buss boy that was filling in for the hostess that I had seen a few minutes before we arrived. I ordered the«I’m stuffed shrimp» which was amazing… the crab was cooked perfectly and the rice and sauce/cheese combination was wonderful. My girlfriend ordered the shrimp New Orleans and I ended up finishing it for her. It had a small bite to it but was not really spicy. I’m not a huge spicy fan and it was great. We also each had a pineapple margarita which had a fry seasoning on the glass rim which was a very unique touch. The shakers they left on the table were pretty cheap and leaked If you didn’t hold them really tight when pouring. Prices were fair for the area and this was a very pleasant experience. Would definitely visit again.

Solid. For a chain that sprung from a Movie, this place did a solid job. The defining dish of this place was their seafood hushpuppies, which were awesome. I did like that the kids meal came in a SS Jenny boat, which was a nice touch and cute reference to the movie. Convenient, quick and with a great view of the beach(and my daughter would feel I would be remiss in not mentioning the waterfalls that they have in the patio section, which are a nice touch).

Got a cup of New England Clam Chowder, Hush Puppies, and the Shrimp Poboy. The clam chowder was a bit salty. The Hush Puppies had seafood mixed into the batter. The Poboy was huge, had to take half home because I was filled from the appetizers. I think it tasted better as leftovers. Had a dinner for four people for about $ 100.

We wanted to do a casual family lunch. Nothing fancy, some of us wanted shrimp, and somewhere we could take a stroll after. I remembered Bubba Gump. Last time we went to one of their restaurants was yeast ago, and the one in Bayside. First time to this location and we were not disappointed. We were immediately greeted. Hostess quickly went to look for a table for 10, plus room for a stroller and high chair. Not even 5 minutes later we were seated. Server came to take our drinks order, and seeing there were some people still missing she gave us some time to wait. Once we were all there, she told us the specials, put in our drinks order, and gave us some more time to look over the menu. Some ordered the burger and were really satisfied with it. The Coconut Shrimp is one of the best I’ve had. I ordered the«Bucket of Boat Trash» that comes with fried shrimp, fried fish, and steamed snow crab, and fries. I, personally would take out the fried fish, too much batter for my taste, which makes it too greasy, but the rest was really good! Really enjoyed it. My dad, who I thought would order shrimp as well, decided on the«Jenny’s Catch» which is Tilapia with lobster sauce, over creamy mashed potatoes. This was incredible. He could not stop saying how good it was and making everyone try it. The Shrimper’s Heaven is exactly that… a shrimp lover’s dream. 4 different styles of cooked shrimp and fries, but I would try to substitute the tempura one… another one that has way too much batter for my taste. Location is perfect to walk around before or after eating. Right on A1A, if you seat outside you get ocean view, very relaxing. Good Service, good food, good time. I give them 3.5 stars.

I typically don’t frequent chain restraints, especially in a new place as I like to get a taste of what the locals have, but I also have trust issues with it comes to seafood. I’d rather not risk my gut heath with bad fish at an off the beaten path spot. So, with it’s cute waterfall and umbrella covered tables, we tried Bubba Gump on the boardwalk. I’ll get the food part of this review out of the way now: The food was fine. We had shrimp appetizer, and I had grilled shrimp on my salad. My husband had some kind of breaded fish and fries basket. He had a beer and I just had water since I was nursing a hang over. The food was fresh and filling, albeit the price tag was higher then we expected. Now to the part that I have to give props to: the clever references to Forest Gump. A ping Pong Paddle held the drink specials. Quotes from the movie are on license plates. They list out all the ways you can have shrimp, just like Bubba Gump explains to Forest. Don’t get me wrong, I like the movie enough, but never would I have thought to theme out an entire restaurant from it. Thinking about, I feel like there are more beloved movies then Forest Gump, but I’m not sure you could create an entire chain built around them… like how would a ‘Goodfellas’ steakhouse go over? Can you do an ‘Anchorman’ jazz club? What about a ‘Grease’ deli? I’m not sure I could visit those without rolling my eyes the entire time. But somehow, this theme was cute and endearing for me.

Never let teenage girls make decisions when hungry. We check into our hotel and start walking on A1A looking for grub. I was trying to walk by this place fast but my niece screams: Uncle Billy!!! Pul-eeeeeese??? How can anyone resist a cute face? The place is empty and we’re seated quickly. Great view of the ocean, the restaurant is located on prime A1A real estate. We have Bubba Gump in NYC, Time Square. Its a chain restaurant for tourists. My nieces don’t care about any of that, feed us is what I’m hearing. I ordered, drank a beer and bolted. It wasn’t bad, I was able to order a fresh fish skewer. Everyone ordered fried fish, I’m not excited about the menu because it leans toward the fried fish side. Lt Dan says at ease!

Ya remember the 3 most important selling points in the real estate biz? Sure you do. For chain restaurants, however, the answer is: Marketing. Marketing. Marketing. So you go to Bubba Gump’s corporate website page and find the cutest marketing BS: «At the core, we are a small chain of seafood restaurants committed to providing a casual environment where everyone can enjoy a great meal and have some fun too.» What they didn’t tell you is that Viacom(you know, the owner of Paramount Pictures, the movie industry mega-company that made a movie called«Forrest Gump» way back when) decided to use the popularity of its movie to make some bucks in the chain restaurant business. As Wikipedia will tell you, «The Bubba Gump restaurant is named after the film’s characters Benjamin Buford „Bubba“ Blue and Forrest Gump.» They’ve got about 40 such restaurants with the majority of them in the US, and several others spread out over the rest of the world – but mainly southeast Asia.(Interesting, since in the movie Bubba was killed in Vietnam during the war). Anyway, for you restaurant bidness buffs, Landry’s, one of the world’s biggest privately owned restaurant chain companies, bought out Viacom’s Bubba Gump business 5 years ago, or so. They haven’t made it public about how much they paid for what BG’s calls its«small chain»(and 40 restaurants is indeed a «small» chain when you’re owned by Landry’s)(viz. .), but we visited their Ft. Lauderdale beach location recently and I’d round them up to 3 stars, and mainly because of the service. The food was institutionally good. But the service was excellent, with a cute as could be old time server who provided some much needed spice and individuality to the experience. All-in-all I wouldn’t really wanna go back, but I can’t say I was terribly disappointed. I guess when you’re at a beautiful beach location looking for a place to get some shrimp and have a drink or two then this Landry’s spot sort of fits in and won’t make you think that you’re supporting a mega-chain restaurant group. Happy delusional consumption, and… Sign me, David«Damning with faint praise» M.

I have never had any desire to go to Bubba Gump’s…ever…but a member of our group was dying to go, so we did. I will not go back for several reasons: fried food, deafening noise, crying kids, kids running around, obnoxiously loud club music. I felt ill after about five bites…everything is loaded with grease, which is what happens when you fry food. The only good thing about this place…Bruce our server! He was SO helpful, accommodating, and funny! He had us play Forrest Gump trivia, and I only missed one, which was amazing for me. Let me emphasize, if you like this kind of place, go for it…you probably will not be disappointed, but it was not for me.

Service is really slow here and food is just ok. Came here twice while on vacation. I think the first time, the food tasted a lil better than the second. And what’s the point of them license plate signs when no one looks at them??? Shrimper’s Heaven — Consisted of tempura, coconut, regular fried, and just chilled shrimp. This was actually really good. Batter and shrimp were both flavorful. Some was overly battered, but it was fine bc it was still flavorful. Net catch entrée — sis in law ordered this. It was not flavorful at all. Seemed like they just boiled it in plain water and threw some seasonings on it at the end and called it a day. Shrimp New Orleans — WTF… SOUR! Sauce was so tangy, it was really hard to eat. Overall — I wouldn’t really recommend it. Tourist trap for sure!
