Downtown House of Pizza

Good pie! Good, chewy crust, nice flavorful pepperoni. Staff were friendly while still maintaining a pizza joint feel. Would definitely go back!

I’m in town for a short vacation and a couple of ballgames with some buddies and after a late flight arrival I was looking for food. Unilocal had DHOP highly rated so I gave it a shot. It was helpful they were open late. We ordered the BBQ chicken pizza. When we ordered they said they only had «Jumbo» sized pizzas (20 in.) available which was odd. Can’t you roll the dough out to whatever size you want? I was too tired to care. Good thing there were five of us!
The pizza was New York style all the way. Big, thin, foldable slices with a nice crunch on the crust. The chicken was lightly grilled, the sauce the right amount of sweet and tangy and the bacon was, well it’s bacon!
Apparently this is the best pizza in Fort Myers. I can see why.

I struggled with my reason to give Downtown Pizza a 4 star rating. However, my main complaint is one I caution folks here to not to use in knocking down a restaurant rating. So, I must be true to form, acquiesce, and fork up the extra star.
Simply stated — by far the best pizza to my liking. Super thin crust, snaps when you bite it, really good sauce and cheese. The 20″ will yield best results if you favor NY Style, thin crust Pizza! The texture of the crust and consistency of the dough make for a pizza crust my mouth begs to bite into. Slices require two hands to handle, which I quickly reduce to a one hander.
There are some decent pizza places in SWFL, but Downtown House of Pizza stands alone at the top of the dough ball. This pizza place (for me, a native New Yorker) — really resembles and reminds me of what great pizza is supposed to taste like.
If you like pizza I recommend you find out for yourself! No disappointments at Downtown House of Pizza. Their other food, while I have not tried any, looks just as good as the pizza!
Now the bad:
Whether you get a half or a full topping, cost is the same, really?
$ 20 for a 20″ pizza, double really?
When there are events in Downtown Ft. Myers-​they will only offer a 20″ pie. Which for me, after trying various sizes there, is truly the only option. Did I mention $ 20 for a 20″ pie?

I’m visiting Fort Myers for a few days and just had to try DHOP, given the rave reviews. I was not disappointed. My order was flawless and ready on time. The staff was friendly and professional. Highly recommended.

Half a block off First Street (the main street with the most stores and restaurants). They’ve got really good pizza and sell half a dozen types by the slice. They also have good cannolis and other desserts. Casual with high top tables inside as well as tables outside on the sidewalk in front and on Patio de Leon in the back.

The best pizza in Fort Myers. Don’t waste time deciding which slice to order… just ask the guy behind the counter which is the freshest because they don’t make a bad slice. This pizza is ultra thin so they fewer the toppings the better. If you like deep dish or crispy crust you might not like, but for the real pizza people this is a must. There is one thing… you can’t get it delivered… I don’t know why but you have to eat it There to really get the total DTP experience!

Want big slices for cheap prices? This is the go-​to place after a night of drinking downtown. I wouldn’t call it ‘the best pizza ever’. There are plenty of other pizza joints in SWFL that rate higher than this place. It’s always packed late-night…if you want to beat the rush, come when normal people eat (i.e. for lunch or dinner).

My husband and I decided to try some Ft. Myers pizza, despite being from New Haven, CT, and we really liked the pie at Downtown House of Pizza. We ordered the Supreme in XL size and shared it with our son-in-law…It was ready for pick-​up when we drove in to get it, and the counter guys were friendly and personable. The pie was flavorful, and the crust was slightly on the bready side, not thin and greasy. We liked the taste and texture, and will return for more the next time we’re back in Ft. Myers.

Absolutely delicious pizza! Our favorite place wasn’t open the other day, so we decided to try here, and we weren’t disappointed. The pizza was delicious, though the wings were so-so…but I would go back for the pizza, for sure!

I vacation down at Fort Myers Beach every year, and every once in a while we make the trip to downtown Fort Myers for dinner and a night out. Recently, we went on a Saturday, and the town was alive with live street music, artists, and more for their First Saturday event.
After a night on the town, were hungry and looking for something satisfying. We walked by Downtown House of Pizza and were drawn in by the hand-​tossed pizzas we could see through the window.
The pizza is awesome and truly NY-​style; big slices, fresh toppings, hand-​tossed, just-​right crust, and inexpensive! I love stopping here for a slice after a few bar stops, or for a quick lunch if I’m downtown.

I am infatuated with pizza and this little place is downtown is amazing! My boyfriend and I were driving on 1 – 75 south on a road trip and we were Unilocaling for a good pizza spot and we came across this little gem. The pizza was amazing and made with fresh ingredients!
A must try!!!

I’m not even a big pizza-​person, but I loved the food here! They have SO MUCH to choose from, I got a slice of cheese pizza and a tiramisu, while my boyfriend got pizza and a salad. We loved everything! The pizza was super good, and the tiramisu was better than in some authentic Italian restaurants I’ve been to!
The inside seating is relatively limited, but if you can sit, there are TVs to entertain, which is nice. The staff is also very friendly!
Next time I’m in town, I’ll definitely be visiting!

Pizza was very good, staff couldn’t have been better. We were a group of 9, waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant, when we came in looking for a few slices as our appetizer. The folks behind the counter were very accommodating, selling us the three slices we wanted, offering to cut them into squares, and giving us glasses for water.
Not the largest purchase of the day for them, but they won some customers that will definitely be back in the future!

Went last night for some late night snacking. The pizza was traditional New York Style Pizza. They had 8 options by the slice. I would have given this place 5 stars (for late night pizza) but I felt the slices were so small. The pizza was good just wish there was more of it.

Huge pieces of pizza and fun atmosphere. There are a few places to sit inside as well as some tables out back on the Patio de Leon. Very busy during downtown events, but well worth it! It’s cheap and delicious, great pizza for sure. The pizza slices are large, it’s thin crust, and the cheese and toppings are great too! They have some yummy looking salads and desserts as well, though I didn’t try any of them.

Hands down THE most NY slice you will find! Fold away!!! I grew up on Long Island and I am extremely picky about calling a slice a NY slice. This is it! Good price, good service, fast and worth the trip! 100% my pizza choice! The rest are just «fast food pizza».
