We’re staying at Gull Wing on the southern part of Fort Myers beach and it’s absolutely wonderful. Beautiful sandy beach with lots of shells in the morning to pick through. It’s clean, safe and not crowded. The water is warm in June :-) and pretty clear. Not much seaweed at this part of the beach. A great family or solo environment. We come here year after year.

The water looks dirty like a lake and smells like fish sewage. The beach is filled with crushed shells and a ton a birds. We rented chairs, three chairs and an umbrella for only $ 20.00. It’s close to our condo, so we deal with it… but don’t make a special trip for it. Not enough trash cans and no showers at entrances.

The area near the pier is definitely commercialized with bars and restaurants but if you are looking for a quiet spot, you will have to go way south just before the big bridge crossing the big river. There, the sand is soft, the birds are friendly and you have all the beach to yourself.
