This is a subpar place to stay. To call it a resort is very misleading. The fact it is a remodeled hotel is fine. What is not fine is the smell. Musty, mildewy smell. We asked that they try to take care of the smell. After arriving back to the room the second day it still smelled terrible and the carpets did not look shampoo’d. Per the front desk they did clean the carpets and deodorized the unit. Per our noses and looks that was a lie. When we pushed the issue they were not rude but not helpful either. Dehumidifiers throughout the rooms is a must. Changing the carpets a must. After 3 days we had to check out as we could not handle the smell any more.

My fiancé and I stayed here for two nights while in town for a wedding. This inn definitely has a lot of perks, with pricing taking the lead. We ended up choosing this this hotel because it was close but less expensive than the couple’s block of rooms. We saved about $ 100 a night and only had a 3 – 5 minute drive to the beach for wedding events. Overall pretty clean room and grounds, too. The reason for the dock of stars is the noise. The first night was ok since it was a weeknight, but once Friday came the stay became less enjoyable. The main problem was that our room was joined to another and we could hear EVERYTHING. This is not the person next to us being loud, this is being normal. I could hear the person chew, brush their teeth, and I could hear every word on their HGTV show at 6AM. I should not be able to hear what programming you’re watching. I would seriously advise to request a non-joined room if you plan to have any sexy time.

My companion and bestest friend has the week of April 18 — April 25 at this facility booked on her membership this year, so we are(what else?) Unilocaling live from the breakfast table in our kitchen. This is an older facility, but spotlessly maintained be really sweet people. The manager, Diana Hunter, is a gem. There are planned activities(optional), a nice pool, large hot tub, laundry facilities on site, and community rooms for cards, billiards, and ping pong. The large swimming pool is inviting, but(regrettably) heated, so no nice invigorating shock as one dives into tepid tedium instead of wet crispness. The facility is right on the bay, not the Gulf. There are charcoal grilles for the guests’ use, so bring charcoal and lighter fuel. The value is wonderful, since it is located in the Ft. Walton Historic district and walking is an easy past time. We toured the Native American burial mounds, riverside parks, shoppes, and other curiosities. Beach access to the Gulf is only a five minute car drive away. I am glad we are 10 minutes from Destin, and in the quiet. But, to each their own!

It was okay for an older hotel. I used my black light as I do with all hotels and there only a few questionable items. We sprayed those with Lysol and enjoyed our stay. We had a nice view of the Bay and the laundry lady was super nice. Hopefully they will give the couches a good cleaning soon.

Good location, but the hotel is old.

We stayed here a couple of weeks ago. They have great rates, a pool, and an indoor air conditioned game room with pool tables, air hockey, driving games, and more. The front desk helped us with any problems we had. Plus, it’s only a few minutes from the beach!
