Dick’s Sporting Goods

When you’re in the market for something in between a Wal-Mart’s Chinese made junk. Or even Gander Mountains (overpriced 2^nd’s). Dicks is probably just what you need.
They are like the Best Buy of sporting goods stores, with a little bit of everything. This Dick’s Sporting Goods location is not the biggest but the selection is adequate. Also in particular, this stores north side location (they load it up with more expensive high end things) unlike the south side location.
On a few occasions when I visited their fishing section, the associates provided great service and expertise. We actually listened to a story about a fishing trip and the cool catches he made recently. Reasonable prices and don’t forget to look for coupons in their weekly newspaper ads.
They do have adequate winter jackets and skiing clothes. I look mostly to the higher end brands. As they tend to buy «end of production» line type things. Even those will tend to outlast, stay in style longer than the Columbian, and first run anything other stores sell.
From what I have seen Dicks places employees in charge of areas they enjoy working in, or at least have some knowledge of the subject!

Dick’s is the place to go where you need something in a hurry. Quality may be less than what you would normally like, and quantity of selections are usually limited as well.
Department by department…
Golf — Probably the best department there. Lots of selections, but prices seem high.
Tennis — Stinks.
Cycling — Stinks.
Team sports (soccer, baseball, etc.) — Ok for generic stuff, but not going to find high end equipment.
Clothing — decent selections, but expensive.
Shoes — OK — but very heavy into basketball sneakers, where you will not find one tennis shoe.
Firearms — Can’t really comment other than selection seems pretty small compared to other stores.
Airsoft & paintball — Stinks.
Excercise machines — not sure, as I avoid this area like the plague. Most people who buy these are just wasting their money.
So, why do I give it a 3 star? Because if you need something in a hurry, they are there.

The staff here on the day after Christmas was so friendly and helpful. I went in looking for an afford affordable sled for my nephews to use since it had snowed so much on Xmas. When I thought I’d found it with a blow up tube type for $ 20 they showed me the $ 9.99 plastic disks the Griswald’s used in Christmas vacation. I got one for each of them for less than one of those painted inner tubes. So cool and helpful of them. It’s in a corner of the mall where nobody goes anymore so you have to have purpose to head there.

If you are not white, then do not shop in this store!!! If you have any color to your skin, the store drones will immediately begin to follow you, and not hide the fact that they will go out of there way to make you feel unwelcome. I walked into this place on several occasions, just to make sure i was not paranoid. It was the same everytime. Fox New Network is pumping your little right wing heads full of that racist mess, and your going along with it. Profiling is still morally wrong!!!
