Well, I had to rate this to get in a comment. Fish of Stroh has now closed for good.

I love their original fish and best sweet tarter sauce around. Need to go here more! They have good hush puppies and fries too.

Ate here for the first time in about 8 years. I remember it being much better. The fish was bland, not very crisp and a little tough. The service was friendly, but the food took a long time to arrive. The prices were WAY too high for what it was and kids meals did not even include a drink. My daughter’s kids meal came with 1 piece of fish and about 7 fries. My son had the slider burgers which were about the size of a half dollar and under-cooked inside. I had my heart set in the all-you-can-eat fish, but it was 15.99 which just seemed too high. Glad I got the fish and fries basket instead because 2 pieces was about all I could stand. Won’t be back.

I used to come here all the time. Honestly, I am not sure why I quit. I returned for lunch today and had a great meal. I always loved their chicken tenders, still very good! Nice big pieces of chicken with a great breading, not too thick so you can taste the chicken. The fish is just as I remembered, thin filets, with great tartar sauce. They have two kinds of coleslaw but I prefer the creamy.

The food was really good. My husband got All You Can Eat Fish for $ 12.99. It came with fries, roll and coleslaw. Son got chicken and fish basket with curly fries. Daughter ordered Veggie burger. I ordered Grilled Cheese. The waitress brought me a ham and cheese which I told her I couldn’t eat because I am a vegetarian, I ended up switching with my daughter and she ate the ham and cheese just because I didn’t want my family to have to wait. The add on Hush Puppies were great. Coleslaw was average. Don’t waste your time on the house salad. Iceberg lettuce, tomatoes. and one cuke slice. Not worth the extra money. One the waitress cleared the dishes she dropped a dirty fork on me. Because she took all of the napkins, I didn’t have anything to wipe my arm off with and she didn’t offer to get any. The pie was great, homemade in the store. My biggest complaint– The floor is so sticky that your shoes stick to it as you walk through the entire restaurant from entrance to bathroom. ALLSTICKY! I wondered why but didn’t ask.

Let me start by saying that I do not like fish. That being said, I have always LOVED Fish of Stroh. The original is lightly breaded and fried, and doesn’t taste«fishy» at all. Their tartar sauce is very good, as are the potato rolls that come with your meal. Fish of Stroh(or Gropp’s Famous Fish of Stroh) used to have many restaurants in the Fort Wayne area, but they are dwindling. I hope never to see the day when I can’t get Fish of Stroh any more.

Fish of Stroh’s atmosphere is quite charming with its marina motif. Our server recommended the fried fish with its signature breading, but we went with the baked Cajun pollack. Big mistake. Although healthy, it was quite bland. The steamed broccoli came out bright green and firm, not boiled beyond recognition. The mayonnaise-based cole slaw(there are two varieties of slaw) tasted just like KFC’s(yum). As we approached the register to pay, the cashier asked how we enjoyed our meal. Saying that it was mediocre, she offered to let us try the breaded version for free. What a delight! The fish was light and fried to perfection. Next time we’ll have the fried fish and leave the baked alone.
