Protailored Physical Therapy

I was referred to ProTailored Physical Therapy after I had shoulder surgery. It was one of the best experiences! Dr Jon diagnosed me with «frozen shoulder» and within the first 2 visits I was feeling better! He knows his stuff and takes time to work with you one on one! If I’m ever in need of physical therapy again. I will definitely call Dr Jon & Vanessa at ProTailored Physical Therapy!

I visited Protailored Physical Therapy (PtPT) for a shoulder problem (a rotator cuff injury I’d tried to self-​heal for a year). I’ll summarize my experience — Amazing! If you’re looking for a GREAT Physical Therapist, go see Dr. Evans at Protailored Physical Therapy.
Note: I’m a recent patient, not being compensated in any way for my review. I just thought I should say that because my review might sound like a paid advertisement. But, I just HAD to write a review so I can help others find the healing I’ve found.
MY STORY:
I tried to exercise my shoulder problems away for about 1 year. I had somehow injured or strained my shoulder (although I have no idea how) and thought I could fix it at the gym myself. I made some progress on my own, but plateaued and couldn’t get rid of all the pain. (Lesson 1 to self: Go in earlier — I could have been all better in weeks versus months had I visited PtPT sooner.) Turns out, many of the exercises I was doing were not best for healing my injury. And, in all that time, I was actually finding ways to compensate for my pain, which wasn’t true healing.
When I showed up at PtPT, Dr. Evans did a thorough assessment of my issues and asked a lot of good questions. I never felt judged for my year of self-​therapy. He just dove in with a positive attitude ready to help.
My first treatment Dr. Evans started with is called «dry needling» (sounds worse than it is.) :-) This wasn’t a mandatory treatment; Dr. Evans simply explained my options and allowed me to move forward with what I felt most comfortable with. Now, I’m no doctor, but as best I can explain it, it’s a technique sort of like acupuncture, but it is targeted and administered in specific ways to increase circulation, release knots, etc. to bring about healing. You don’t feel the needle at all (really, you don’t) but he then uses the needle to target specific areas in the muscle/​tendon. That part isn’t too fun (but bearable). But the results were really amazing. After my 1^st visit I’d say I noticed a 50% improvement in my shoulder pain. Dr. Evans used this technique a couple more times over the coming weeks.
Most of my other visits centered around other techniques (scrapping, stretches, targeted massage, etc., and exercises.) Dr. Evans gave me a range of exercises to begin at home. Each week he would assess and change exercises to target different things my shoulder needed. I found ENORMOUS improvement through these exercises.
BOTTOM LINE: I’ve now finished treatment with Dr. Evans. And after going to about 8 visits, my pain improved 95%, mobility improved 95%, and strength is returning as I’m compensating less for shoulder weakness. The remaining 5% will come with the ongoing exercises Dr. Evans has me doing over the next few weeks. I’m so, so happy with my results and my experience with PtPT.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT: From the time I walked in the door, I was greeted by a friendly smile and a welcoming environment. And, at each visit Dr. Evans took time to listen to me and ‘tailored’ my treatment to my needs, abilities, etc. (The business name fits.)

1. Friendly, relaxed environment
2. No wait (I’ve never had to wait more than 2 minutes to see Dr. Evans)
3. Individual one-​on-​one attention
4. Dr. Evans has an obvious passion for PT and genuine concern for his patients
5. Did you catch #4? He’s a Dr. He has a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. How many PTs can say that? He knows his stuff.
6. He doesn’t push treatments or drugs and was open to working with my desire to use natural anti-​inflammatories vs other medications.
7. Dr. Evans listens and answers any questions at whatever level of detail you like.
8. And last and most important, his techniques get results.

P. S. I got my wife to get a consultation for a locked «trigger finger» thumb issue. Dr. Evans was able to help bring a significant improvement to her thumb’s mobility and flexibility!!!

After having two car accidents, 2 children, and spending a few years in grad school hunched over books and computers, my back, shoulders and neck were in poor shape. I had seen chiropractors, and taken medication, but the relief was only temporary. I was at a breaking point when I couldn’t even give my young children a bath because leaning over the bath tub had me in so much pain I would cry.
I decided to visit Dr. Jon for physical therapy treatments. He was very professional, and spent a lot of time really learning about my situation. I never felt rushed, I felt like he really cared about my personal story, and my pain. He did several stretches and diagnostics to see exactly what was bothering me. I really felt like he took the information from my injury, and his assessment of my condition to formulate a specific and personal plan just for me.
I immediately noticed a difference after my first session. Through series of stretches and exercises I was getting the results I wanted. Dr. Jon always explained what he was doing, and why he was doing it. He helped me understand my body, and the science behind the therapy, which was really cool. I felt confident in his plan because he was so knowledgeable. He gave me some exercises to do at home to help my recovery. I feel that he was very honest about my treatment plan, never pushy, or making me return if it wasn’t necessary.
I would highly recommend Dr. Jon, he really helped me with managing my back, neck and shoulder. I still continue to do several of the exercises he showed me, and continue to get results.
