I don’t know why we keep going to Bar Louie, thinking it might improve one day. This is a great location with a great atmosphere, but how do you have one of the best roof top bars and patio in downtown and have NOFANS, AC or MISTFANS in the middle of June??? We were here around 11:00PM and it was sweltering upstairs. Not a single fan was on. We decided to move downstairs, but the experience did not improve much considering their overpriced and watered down drinks. I would think if martinis were your specialty, you would at least make them strong enough for people to enjoy and get their money’s worth. I expect to pay more when in downtown, but I don’t want to pay top dollar for weak, pointless drinks. With so much competition in this area, you would think they would make some changes to keep their customers around. Next time, we will go somewhere else.

Atmosphere was great, servers were friendly and very informative of specials. Had a few appetizers, the potstickers and sliders were good. The music played was not too loud and I was able to hear the conversation among the group of friends I was with. It’s at a great location on the corner, easy to find, had a little hard time finding parking, but not a long walking distance from where I did find it.

This Bar Louie has far more different vibe than the other 2 Bar Luoie’s I’ve been too in The North Dallas area. This one have more hopping vibe and a lot more interesting(in a good way) people watching going on. As usual, bar tenders are attentive and efficient. Will definitely be back here

Went here on a Monday night and the bar was pretty much empty. That’s not completely a bad thing though. The bartender on the rooftop was super patient and nice and even steered us in the right direction on their speciality drinks. We started with a martini, the«diva», not really my style, but it was sweeter with an extra punch of vodka. They have a pretty nice selection of cheaper bottles of wine, so we decided that since we were lush hot messes, we went with their bottle of Malbec. Super yum. After that we went with a classic– vodka tonic(Tito’s) with a double shot of vodka. I really wish we had caught our bartenders name but he was super dope and he worked upstairs and he had been in the military. I don’t live in TX but will definitely be back to Bar Louie in the future. Wish it didn’t close at 2am but apparently that’s a lame ass Texas law.

My date’s meal did not come as he specified and our drinks were never refilled. Perhaps it was due to the lateness but I expecyed better from our bubbly and seemingly attentive waitress. The atmosphere was pleasant and I felt privacy sitting at a booth with high cushioned backs which could seat 4 adults easy. The restroom was overall clean with only a few customer made piles of tissue in my chosen stall. I would return to this location but no later than midnight. There is definitely a sense of urgency if one arrives after that time.

Very disappointing. The place is set up so well and looks great, but the service is awful. It seemed like our waitress kept forgetting about us. We did have a group of 8, but waited 15 min for half of the drinks and more than 45 for our food(including the appetizer, which came with the rest of the food… not exactly an appetizer at that point). And I say«more than 45 min» because it was 45 min after we actually noticed how long it was taking for light food items, like flat bread, salad, and a couple simple chicken dishes. Won’t be back

Slow. Slow. slow. So I was wondering why would this place not be packed since they offer dollar burgers on Tuesdays. Well I got my answer. Because you will wait an eternity for any kind of service and acknowledgement for an ok drink and an ok burger(which is not a dollar). The upstairs patio is nice but so are a lot of betters bars in town.

I have to give a star? A full fucking star? Lmfao. A: the food is just slightly above a Walmart free sample during your misery of aisle shopping to spend 3 bucks less than an actual grocery store. In fact this Bar Louie is the restaurant equivalent of Walmart. B: The service was not service, by definition. I am a restaurant veteran and personal chef who know what’s what. This place sucked in all facets. This is not the first time either. Pay full price for shoddy food? Fuck you. C: The doormen tried to start shit with me while I went out for a much needed frustration smoke. I fucking beg your dipshitted pardon??? Shut your mouth and be a loser young man. All in all this is a poor example of a Bar Louie. I’ve been to other branches and it was fine. Servers were attentive, food was presented fine and tasted good to enough, and the rest of the staff were respectful. This one fucking sucks. Hope you close assholes. Blow me.

Nice modern hipster bar in West 7th. Prices are consistent with this area. Don’t come here to save money, come here to have fun. Trendy place with a wood meets metal ambiance. The rooftop area is a major plus. Down stairs has such choices as booths a bit in the darker back, to bar tables near open areas in the front. TV’s circle the bar with moderately loud but enjoyable music playing from overhead speakers. As others have noted, service could improve. I wasn’t displeased with service save one thing: dirty tables. They sat me initially at a table that was clearly not clean. The waitress never cleaned it. Odd. Then I asked to be moved because the wind coming through the large open areas was cold. The next table had wet circles on it from prior drinks, large wet circles. Never cleaned. Not sure why as it was rather obvious beer bottles or something similar had been placed there not long prior. I enjoyed a couple of draft beers from their small selection. I ordered an appetizer of Bruschetta Pomodoro. The presentation is great in a large martini glass. The flavor was good but it had a large amount of fresh onion, which isn’t mentioned on the menu. I don’t mind uncooked onion but it causes me some GI distress and I wouldn’t have chosen this if I had known. I ate around the onion and enjoyed it overall. Enjoyable trendy place, just need to improve the quality of the waitstaff to clean tables that are clearly not clean.

I came here late night Tuesday just to check it out. This was the second time I’ve been here, but it’d been awhile so I wanted to come back to see :). The first time, I came on a Friday night and got some food here as well as drinks. Overall, was not impressed with the food and I wouldn’t come for the food, but I loved the drinks here and will come back for that! Loved the Moscow mules here! Now, I wish they could’ve used bigger copper mugs, but I really liked the taste so could care less! They used quite a bit more lime juice(to be fair, I also squeezed in my lime with all vodka drinks), which I think made it taste better. I have to say though, I could barely taste the ginger beer but for sure felt the vodka after awhile! Which made up for it I guess! Strangely, I liked the Moscow mules here more than at the usual or anywhere else for that matter! They have a gorgeous rooftop area as well! Will probably come back for happy hour and chill on the rooftop sometimes! Overall, awesome bar, wouldn’t come here for food though! 2 for food and 4 for alcoholic drinks!

This place is alright. I enjoyed the blackened chicken when it first opened, but since then the quality has gone down food wise. Cocktails are still good and it has a 7th Street yuppie atmosphere, no working class here. The patio up top is pretty awesome though.

Ah, Bar Louie. Ya ain’t bad, but ya ain’t the best, either. There are essentially two perks that keep me coming back here: the upstairs bar and the Wednesday martini deal. I don’t think I’ve ever walked in here and stayed downstairs — how can you when they have a huge outdoor patio that overlooks West 7th? On a warm summer night, there’s nothing better. Even when it’s chilly outside, I always go upstairs anyways; they have a garage door that closes off the patio, creating a warm, cozy, intimate space. I’ve come here many times during the week and had great conversations with their bartenders, who are always masterful with their craft. I once had the pleasure of meeting the guy who actually runs this location(who’s name is now escaping me!), and he is both an awesome bartender and just a very personable guy. The only thing that’s preventing me from giving this place four stars is the occasionally shoddy service. Unless I’m sitting at the bar, it has taken servers up to 10 minutes after I’ve sat down to acknowledge me. If you’re sitting outside, once your food shows up, good luck trying to get someone’s attention if something is wrong with your food, or you want to order another drink. I’ve never had a problem with a server’s attitude — everyone here is very friendly! — but sometimes I’ve definitely felt«forgotten about». Also, speaking of food, I’d rate it as just okay. It’s definitely NOT the highlight of this place, just like it isn’t at most bars. You’re going to get your typical bar fare — wings, tots, burgers — and it’s not going to be great, but it will definitely be welcome after a drink or two. I will say, the tater tots here ARE pretty good, but where are they not? Some other neat perks about this place — on Tuesdays, you can get $ 1 burgers with the purchase of a drink. Any fix-ins are extra, but only like $ 0.25 or $ 0.50. They do have happy hour 4−7PM on weekdays, and on Wednesdays martinis are $ 5.25 all day. If you’re looking for some deals on drinks with the added bonus of a great outdoor patio, I’d check this place out.

Meh. I’m not impressed. Although the rooftop thing has a cool vibe, the actual food wasn’t all that great. I went for brunch today with my fam. I got some sort of salmon salad. The dressing was gross, like from a bottle. I also got the weakest ass marg of my life. It was straight sugar no booze. I also shared the veggies and hummus plate, and there was a horrendous veggie to dip ratio. Lastly, the service was slow. It took us about an hour and 15 mins to get out food.

Food was eh… But the patio! I would definitely go back just to grab a drink and appetizer on the upstairs patio! I wouldn’t suggest their dinner dishes. The appetizers were pretty good though.

This review is going to be food based because I do go here often when we are bar hopping. We randomly go here for a quick bite when we’re out since they serve food late… Sometimes it’s a hit or miss with a waitress. Whether they decide to come up to us or not. The food is mediocre. If I could choose my favorite item on their menu it’s probably their wings or trio dip sampler. I actually prefer ordering from their apps versus their actual menu because I’ve never had anything that actually caught my attention. My bf loves their burgers, great size burger and pretty juicy and flavorful.

I’ve heard a lot about this place, so I was finally finagled into going for an event being held on the upstairs patio. On a Friday evening. Parking is horrendous. On-street parking is taken up pretty quickly. The parking garage has limited spaces, and unless you can get your ticket validated, it’s $ 10(however, the first two hours is free). The area where Bar Louie is located seems like it would be upscale, yet across 7th is a Chipoltle, Wendy’s, In-and-Out, and a stand-alone Verizon store. As I walk in, my first thought is «Why isn’t this place busy?» There were a couple people at the bar, the tables by the huge open windows were empty, and there was a large group in the back. Upstairs is the patio, with tables scattered about, and cozy alcoves with benches and fire pits. «What a great place,» I kept on thinking. On a nice night, the patio should be hopping. The beer was cold and flowing, and the bartenders were attentive. The menu looks decent. I wasn’t too hungry and there were a couple people at my table and we were sharing things, so I ordered the chicken nachos. They came out pretty quickly, but the chips seemed a bit stale. I seemed like a lot of people were ordering them, so there shouldn’t have been any time for the chips to breathe too much. A couple of us noticed the floor tiles weren’t secure. That is going to be an insurance nightmare. This location is great, if I lived or worked in the area, I would make the patio area my home. I don’t see what Bar Louie is trying to pass off, though. I didn’t notice any kind of theme or ambiance. The interior looks classy and expensive, but I don’t see any attraction.

Love the rooftop patio — a great place to grab drinks on west 7th! Their signature drinks aren’t anything special — I’ll stick to beer and wine next time. Service was great though, our drinks were never empty!

I love the upstairs patio at this bar! It’s huge and great for events. The bar tenders serve up nice concoctions and in a timely manner. There was no lack of service at this bar and the place is kept spotless. There is plenty of space to roam around or have a seat. I think this is in a great location and I would love to go back and try some food unfortunately we were only there for drinks and patio time. :)

First time I’ve been here, I was a little excited cause I had heard good things about it. We walked straight to the patio due to the fact that the inside seemed like people where just dining in. We where there to drink! The rooftop patio has a real spacious bar, with four bartenders that are pretty fast. The beer selection is also good, I had a Martin House and a Revolver. Taste was fresh and crisp. They seemed to have two sizes for draft beer, I order twice and never was I actually asked what size I wanted. The first time I was served in a tall glass, which made me really happy. The second time I was served in a small glass, not very happy. I guess the bartender just gives you whatever glass he finds first, which is sad cause it’s only a dollar difference and I like beer! The seating arrangement was real nice and much of it, we had no problem finding a place to sit. Even with a big crowd. It’s an outside lounging area and tables as well. Music wasn’t too loud, a very relaxed atmosphere us the kitchen opens late. Just please be very careful with the flooring at the rooftop patio, it seemed like it was half ass done and most of the tile was loose. Very scary and dangerous. Come on guys fix it!
