Wanting to eat somewhere new for lunch, but not quite far away I decided to try this place. Probably should’ve turned left to Madea’s! La Valentina is a mexican restaurant in little ol Everman. It’s nice and clean on the inside. At 1:00 we were the only ones there. The guy at the counter ask if we were eating here or to go. Here, so sit anywhere. No appetizers here. Just chips and salsa. The salsa was a little watery. The chips were pretty hard. They made my teeth hurt. I got the beef fajita grill, which is just pretty much fajitas. Supposed to come with onions and peppers like the picture mine didn’t. They gave me a side of Pico and the lady that brought it out told me «Mija, you better try that first, it may be too spicy for you» Okay, she may have been being nice about it and warning me, but it was the way she said it. Like Condescending. Don’t need white girl grabbing her throat, yelling for milk, and calling 911 because she’s never had anything spicy before. I can handle spicy, my best friend growing up is mexican and her mom cooked some spicy food that would make you cry! Maybe I just took it the wrong way, lol. The food wasn’t that bad. It wasn’t great either. I wouldn’t come out of my way to eat here(ex: dallas or arlington). My meat was good and I poured my pico on my meat because it lacked onions/peppers and this chica blanca ate it with my nose running like a champ. Rice and beans were pretty tasty. May have to try it again for breakfast since most of the reviews seem to be for breakfast.

It seems like there’s ten new taquerias opening weekly in the Ft Worth area. While you rarely encounter one that is less than good, finding one that offers original fare takes some diligent searching. If you’re willing to drive a little south to Everman, La Valentina is definitely worth the trip. Tacos are served on tortillas made as you wait, a rarity these days. They also have a nice variety of tamales made in house. On my last visit they even had Guava Agua Frescas, which were incredible. This place is easy to get to, just east of I35 on Everman Parkway.

The food is amazing! I had the potatoes and eggs. The tortillas are fresh and light. Please support this gem.
