Defender Outdoors Shooting Center

Went here for the first time. The floor reps were very helpful and knowledgable. Answered all the questions we had. It gets very crowded very fast. The lanes seem to get booked pretty quick and if there are members they bump you out of line.

Went today and was warmly welcomed by the informative staff. They provide a wide range of options and is safe for the family. Very clean and orderly with space to truly explore. If you’re a veteran there is half off the range lane which is very pocket friendly. The restroom was clean and the soap was refreshing. The next time I go, I’ll be sure to update. So far it was a great experience… up until we had to pay and had gotten more ammo than we thought.

This is a very nice range concerned with bringing the best shooting experience to their customer base. While I have never met them, ownership contacted me to correct a customer service issue which is something you just don’t see anymore. While that gesture in and of itself would have been enough for me to return to their location, the fact that it’s easily the nicest range I’ve been to in Fort Worth makes it a no brainer.

Been there twice. Even brought my girlfriend to shoot for the first time. These are people as best as they come. Polite, knowledgeable and people oriented. They made my girlfriend’s first experience like no other. Very happy. Will be coming back for more.

So after two years of talking about getting my chl now ltc I finally signed up the the class!
I found the online process a bit difficult but that was probably user error. And whenever I called they were super helpful!
So the class! Rene was our fantastic instructor, he was funny, smart and very knowledgeable!
Our class was a mix of young and old! I was the only single female in the class… And I really hope Rene reads this… He picked on me! Ha! Only in the very best way though! I knew a lot of the answers and I think that took him by surprise!
We started out the day with the shooting test first. Nothing like 8am shooting to wake you up! They do give you an option of renting a gun, only one person need a firearm. They will also give you ammunition, it’s in the cost of the class. So they got to me and asked what I would be shooting, 357, I think everyone was shocked by that. I’m a very petite girl. I was actually the only one who shot a revolver. And in the new law you can qualify with either revolver or semi automatic and carry both too. I ended up shooting 220 out of 250! I was happy with myself!
So on to the 4.5 hours of classroom time! Rene made it go by very fast! They said you could order food, but no one did. I brought some pork rinds to snack on. Awesome class! Can’t say that enough!
As for the shooting range and store. It was packed at 3pm on a Saturday! I would definitely come back midweek for some shooting! And I’m definitely interested in some of their events!

Having not shot before, the knowledgable, professional, and friendly staff made my learning experience at Defender Outdoors an incredible one. Learning from one of the best trainers, Sam, made my experience at DO wonderful as well. I had so much fun and I can’t wait to do it again!

This gun range is the range I would have designed if I were going to build one. It’s beautiful. It is not geared toward just the boys. Right now not everything is in place but it will be amazing. They are extremely busy right as they just opened so don’t expect not to wait awhile if you go during peak times. We waited till after dinner on a Saturday night and the place was dead, only 2 people on the lanes. They are open most nights till 9pm so lots of opportunities for slower times. In the lanes there is someone who monitors shooters. He was very pleasant and not at all intense like you find sometimes. When you shoot there is a small wind to your back so all the smoke goes downrange. The equipment is digital and programmable. Be prepared to pay for everything because nothing is included. You pay for all your targets and $ 1 for ear protection. If it is maintained it will be a nice place to shoot.
I also purchased my gun there. Maybe since it was my first gun I expected more than what is normal. They never showed me how to take it apart to clean and put it back together or anything. It was a huge purchase for me that I agonized over for weeks and it turned into kind of a non event.
Membership here has it’s privileges. The memberships are pricey because of the initial up front payment but the monthly payments are not too bad. Most memberships get you all your range time and targets at no cost. The big plus is lane reservations up to 2 weeks out.
They have some Ladies Only events which I like. Will definitely shoot here.

The staff was very knowledgeable of their products and proud of their store and new range. The facility is beautiful and state of the art and prices are very very competitive.
The only reason for not giving 5 stars, while I was near the range check in desk, I overheard a conversation between a customer and an employee. The customer was young and excited, and happened to be open carrying his firearm. He was asked to step outside and clear his weapon and keep it out of his holster. Even though the customer in the wrong for not wanting to comply before shooting on the range, it was the response of the employee I find shocking. The employee said to the customer, «if I see that firearm come close to leaving that holster, my draw is faster and mine is loaded.» I understand safety, but instead of educating a young and dumb customer, YOUR EMPLOYEE felt the need to threaten him with a loaded firearm. That to me is unprofessional.

We loved this place! Aaron Watson band officially approves! Nothing gets you ready to play a sold out show at Billy Bob’s like firing off a couple few rounds with your friends. Can’t wait to be back!

I recently did the LTC class, taught by Sgt McGuire of the FWPD. It was worth every penny. The staff are all incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and Sgt McGuire makes the class fun and laid-​back, while also giving you real-​world knowledge and scenarios that genuinely will help you once you decide to carry a weapon to defend yourself. Being an avid shooter myself, I had no problem with the class. However comma… Even if you’ve never held a firearm in your life, you will be a better shooter after this class. They even give you range time, a rental firearm, ammo, and (as of Feb15) fingerprints on site included in the price! You cant beat that, even with the groupon deals, once you tally up range fees, ammo, etc. Book a class with these guys. Thank me later.
As for the range itself, I only shot pistol, but I can tell you its damn nice. Having shot at some ranges that sound like youre shooting inside a drain pipe, the acoustics are awesome at this place. I cant wait to try the rifle range. The retail area is huge, and looks like it’s gonna be very well stocked once its up and running. The pistols and rifles they had at the time looked very fairly priced as well. I love the «try before you buy» policy for all the firearms too.
If youre an avid shooter like myself, get a membership. Or at least drop by and see what a proper gun range is supposed to look like. If youre a new shooter, give this place a shot (pun intended). You wont be sorry!

Excellent prices! You will likely pay $ 100 more for a handgun at another local retailer. I don’t know how these guys’ prices are so low. Great customer service too. I’ve been in a few times, and they are always eager to talk about product. These guys don’t just work here, they love shooting. It’s a small retail space, but they are soon to be moving into a larger space with more stock on hand, and a gun range. Hurry up guys, I can’t wait.

Mason was very knowledgeable and patient. We looked at practically every gun in the case before we finally left with 2. This was our second time visiting and both times the staff was outstanding. Recommended for all of your shooting needs. Best prices in town. We will definitely be back.

Just bought a gun online from this new shop. When I went to pick it up the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and knowledgeable about their craft. I ended up learning a lot and cannot wait to see what the new gun range is going to look like.
