Tribute to Dos Gringo’s closing: We have been coming here for almost ten years. Since, my wife’s friend took her here in our twenties. At the time, I really didn’t think anything about this place-coming from San Antonio in all. I mean it’s not the best tasting food, or the best looking place, and sometimes I would judge the people for no good reason. And, I’m sure there are a ton of reasons more on the negative side. But, what makes Dos Gringos special to me and the wife? I guess it is going week after week, month after month, year after year-seeing the good people that work there. They know you, what you like, what drinks you enjoy, and good attitudes the whole time your dining in(even when you trivially complain). The place grows on you, at least it did with me. It became the place were I could enjoy the best, hands down! Chili Relleno with that fried egg on top, along with a frosted cold beer on tap. To the people of Dos Gringos, thank you very much for the food and service y’all brought to the community of Fort Worth. You all will be sorely missed… good luck on your new horizons and endeavors.

The absolute worst service we have ever had from a restaurant. My fiancé’s order came completely wrong so of course she sent it back. Waitress said she would be back to get the new order. 10 minutes later another waitress came to ask how everything was, well it would help if we got to put in the new order. So new order in, 45 minutes later still no food. Everyone at our table was done eating except for two orders which never came. So we said forget it we dont want the meal. The manager comes over and says because it was new order and they got a table of 25 in, that my fiancé’s order got pushed to the back of the line. They were rude and argumentative. Our friend that was with us asked if we were in a haunted house. Filled with waitresses undertrained and a supervisor with no customer service nor does she know how to take accountability for her employees or know the history of what was made at this restaurant in the past. The chili used to be fried in batter, she said that shes been there for 30 years and it never was. Funny I did my research and she lied like a dog.

Big, generous frozen margaritas. Chicken-and-rice-packed tortilla soup. Salsa served warm with spice-tinged tortilla chip. Here the Tex-Mex basics are served with enough gusto to make coming here worthwhile all by themselves. I have found the service consistently friendly. The main dishes are solid tasting and very much mainline within their genre. Dos Gringos is one of those places in which it hard to go wrong.

I came to DOS Gringos for lunch with a few coworkers on a weekday and got seated immediately. The menu is your typical texmex menu with awesome(and by awesome I mean cheap) lunch specials on the back. The chips were okay and the salsa was a bit on the watery side. I had the chicken enchiladas which comes with beans and rice. It was filling and just tasted okay to me. The environment appears to be a little dirty to me. I think I would have to pass the next time my coworkers decide to dine here.

Haven’t been here in over 20 years… if its here in 20 years I may return once again. Not great at all. Better than Taco Bell at least, but pricier still. Margaritas were good though.

The best part was the queso with chips other than that it was a disappointment. We will not be coming back.

The food was really not very good. I got Tacos Al Carbon and it was filled with cheese and very little meat. Most places that I have ordered this, don’t even put cheese. The little beef that was in there was squishy. It was very low quality. The queso was decent, but it had the texture of being re-warmed for days. My two year old even turned it down, which is highly unusual. I should have known when I walked in at lunchtime on Saturday and there were only about 6 people in there. This place is on its way out if they don’t improve food quality. The restaurant was super dark and it felt like I was eating at a nightclub during their off hours.

If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. Service was nonexistent and it took us 45 minutes to be served our food. That would be maybe acceptable if it was a full house but it was Sunday afternoon(2 pm) and there were only three other tables in the restaurant. Our charro beans were served to us cold and the rest of the food was average at best. Not worth the price.

This place is average, average food, average drinks. Service was good and fast but other than that, not much going for this place. Parking is fine, happy hour is good with groups. Not much else to say.

What happened to this place. Used to be great. Now dirty and old. Service was terrible and the food so so. Someone needs to update this place asap or close it down

I have eatin here for years and to think how it is now. Gross and smells like sewer. The managers from years ago were friends of mine and they would be so disappointed now. What a mess and food sucks if u can get past the smell.

Went on a quick date night with my husband and decided to check this place out because it looks cute and fun on the outside and well it turned out not so amazing. The first table we were seated at was broken, asked to move and the hostess gladly did. The menu is short and to the point with NO prices which we found out why when we got our bill. The margaritas were decent but food was poor. Its a 30 $ meal for a 70 $ price and we only had 2 margaritas and 2 dinner plates on a Saturday night. Not worth the time or money, the hole in the wall taco place next to it totally worth it. Go there instead

Dos Gringos is a gem in the West 7th/University corridor and has been for years. While a student at TCU down the road I visited Dos Gringos at least once or twice a month for some good off campus grub. My most recent visit had me feeling quite nostalgic and I felt like a college student all over again(I even got carded like one too… haha). Their queso is soooo yummy and the chips with the chili powder dusting are enhanced when dipped in their delicious queso. My favorite entrée is the chile relleno. For this place to be Tex Mex, they have some great chile relleno complete with a cooked egg on top. The margaritas are huge and definitely worth the money. Service is excellent with all members of the staff making sure chips are filled, drinks are never empty, and that customers are satisfied. The only thing deducting a star from Dos Gringos’ rating is that they had some sort of mishap in the kitchen and it was really smoky on my last visit. They were slammed from patrons of the stock show across the street and it was busy and hot. But those things were kind of out of their control. Do yourself a favor and get some Dos Gringos queso stat. It’s pretty much the best in Fort Worth.

It started off good, until they brought out heated up salsa. Then they brought out the queso and it was just melted cheese. Terrible. Then we all got our food and it was terrible.

Great Mexican food! Friends and family always rave about Joe Ts but I would put any Dos Gringos dish head to head with Joe Ts. The ambiance isn’t as amazing but still nice and the device is good.

We just visited last night. So, I remember this place as being far better than our experience. We ordered the shrimp fajitas. Shrimp were rather small for the $ 14 price tag, but they were the best part of the meal, by far. The rice was bland, and the beans were just average. Guacamole was about average for Tex-Mex. «Margaritas» were basically slushies — didn’t seem to have any alcohol at all and were $ 10! Most Tex-Mex places have happy hour at 5pm on Friday night. The«margaritas» were large, but as I mentioned, I basically felt like I was just drinking calories since there didn’t seem to be any tequila. The service was fine. But, the place really needs a coat of paint and new carpeting. We hadn’t been in quite some time, and I was sad to see how far downhill this place has gone. But, we won’t be back.

This used to be a good place to eat. The food was good and the service quick. But over the past few years it has gone downhill. The food is now just so-so. The service is slow and rude. And the property is run down. The floors and walls are dirty. There are cracks in the wall and ceiling. The menus are tattered and worn out. This place is now just nasty. I will not be back unless they clean it up. It needs a major cleaning and remodeling. And the staff needs a new attitude.

This place seemed cool… 30 years ago. The restaurant was completely empty and after having dinner I understand why. The cooks playlist was blaring into the dining hall, the plates were hotter than the food, the margarita I ordered when I sat down came out as a dessert, the service was terribly slow and the food was obviously cooked before we even pulled into the parking lot because it was at the table in under s minute. Nothing seemed fresh. The table was sticky and dirty. The server was nice and sweet but had no clue about the menu. I would not go back, seems like the place used to be successful and has hit some hard times. They really need to get back to basics and have a clean place that serves fresh food

With having a club chirstmas party here every year i finally feel like i can write an honest review of this place. Upon inspection the place needs some cleaning up. It has become one of those places where they no longer utilize space, so they start stacking junk up in the corner. There’s never any good reason for this. I do think the building could have massive potential if redone though. Parking, while it seems like a lot, is always hard to come by. The staff here is really the best quality, prompt friendly and always seems very genuine. Their cheesy enchiladas where really great as one other Unilocaler has mention, but everything else was a huge let down. Everything else seemed to be prepackaged and over seasoned. Price point was about spot on for any mexican restaurant, but a let down when you stop to take in you really didn’t like the food to begin with. Also drinks seemed to be the standard for a place like this and really have nothing good or bad to say about that. Get this place back in order and give it some flair/charm that the building & rooms really deserve and i think you might have something here. Until then i think it’s best to go else where.

I used to visit DG whenever I was in the Cultural District and had a hankering’ for Mexican food. The last visit before this one was 5 – 6 years ago and I seem to recall it being a bit better. This was a lunch visit and the food was average. I had fajitas and some queso with meat in it. Neither were anything special but they were both ok. Service was average to a tad bit below average, perhaps because we were seated in the back, you know what they say, out of sight, out of mind… Anyway, I would go back if I happened to be in the area, I just wouldn’t make a special trip.
