Fresh ingredients combined to make delicious Thai food that even taste great the next day! This little hole in the wall with very understated décor doesn’t brag much in terms of aesthetics is One of the best kept secret’s on seventh Street amongst so many wanna be Asian fusion establishments that lack consistency and taste

In my pursuit of all things gastronome, I decided to give Happy Bowl a try based on a recommendation from a fellow foodie. Fairly new to Thai food at the time, I went to Happy Bowl with entirely too little education on the subject of curry. Naïve, I solicit suggestions from my waitress who asks if I like spicy food, «I LOVE spicy food» I replied. I quickly came to regret my proclamation of spicy affection. I ordered the spicy curry beef and when asked what spice level I wanted, 1 – 5, I requested a 4. The waitress shook her head and asked if I was sure, I said yes, she pressed again, «Are you SURE?»… I’ll admit it, I got scared and backed down to a 3. 20 minutes later my waitress emerges from the kitchen, squinting and holding the dish way out in front of her. As she gets closer I can see her eyes watering. Bad sign. Really bad sign. The next 30 minutes would become the most unpleasant sensory experience of my eating life. Building with every bite, the heat overcame my mouth and then the rest of my body as tears began mixing with sweat until I just had to give up. And that was the whole problem, I didn’t want to stop eating, the flavor was amazing. The crazy thing is that even with a reminder the next day of my poor choice in spice level, this wouldn’t be the last time I put myself through this masochistic routine. I would return many more times, each time thinking I could handle it better than the last. I hope my experience will serve as a warning to all, don’t be a tough guy, you will be brought swiftly into submission. I love Happy Bowl, I think I have finally found a spice level that works better for me, I don’t get adventurous anymore, I go for a 1⁄5. Good quality, authentic Thai food is Happy Bowl’s bit, and it’s a bit worth biting into.

Ok, so my wound has healed and I know it wasn’t the business’ fault for the lame delivery service. We have been back many times since because the massaman and pad Thai is stellar. But we just do carry out now, as we should have done previously.

I hope they got rid of the other server I had when I came in last, it’s been a while. But today the service was great and so was the food. Plus they have a student discount!

This place is pretty low-key, and I believe it’s «seat yourself», so don’t expect any type of grand entry or trendy décor. However, please don’t let that fool or deter you. This is truly one of Fort Worth’s hidden gems. If you are going on your lunch break, I would advise you to look at the menu online ahead of time since service isn’t always fast since there are only a couple of servers at any given time, but trust me, you won’t be disappointed. I have always found the servers to be friendly and quick to recommend dishes for anyone unfamiliar with the menu, which is a plus. I recently visited with my toddler, and the waitress was extremely thoughtful. She engaged him with simple conversation, offered him food she knew he would like and made him feel special, which any parent can appreciate while dining with their little one. We ordered edamame and shrimp spring rolls as an appetizer, and both came out quickly and tasted fresh. The peanut sauce with the spring rolls had a slight kick which was nice, but not too much for the kiddo. I also ordered a Thai iced tea which was strong yet smooth with just the right amount of sweetness & spice. A must try! For our main course my dad & kid got the same thing(sesame chicken lunch special) with varying levels of spice. None for the baby of course, and a 4 for my dad; we like it spicy. My dad loved his, and the spice was perfect, if not a little much, but he likes a challenge! ;) I ordered the Num Tok salad with a spice level of 4, and I was in spicy beef heaven! The beef was tender and juicy with a citrus kick to compliment the spice, and the iceberg and onion gave it a nice crunch along with the rice powder. It was large enough that I was full halfway through, but so delicious I couldn’t stop shoveling it into my mouth. Again, I wouldn’t come in unprepared if you need to be somewhere in a hurry, but if you want flavorful and plentiful authentic food to spice up a dull afternoon then this is your place!

They deliver with $ 20 minimum. The food was good. Large portions. Delivery was fast. I agree with other Unilocalers that the hours are iffy. The first time I wanted to try the place, it was closed when it was supposed to be open. My other complaint is that I specifically asked for«soft tofu, not fried», but I got fried tofu in all my dishes. But that may just be a one time communication issue. Seems like the staff at the original store on white settlement are better when it comes to communication.

This place is always closed. Their hours are not accurately posted on Unilocal. The two girls who work up front are unprofessional and ratchet. The first time I came we had already finished the first entrée and I asked where the second dish was. They said it was still cooking. then two min later she asked again what our second entrée was that we had ordered. When it was finally brought out she told me it took a long time because the potatoes had to cook. Id prefer they just own up to forgetting an order than making up some bs to cover it up. As far as the food goes it’s nothing exceptional and the portions are small.

The moment we walked in, no one greeted us. So we decided to sit down at a 4 person table. It was just my hubby and me. There were plenty of tables around(more than 6 empty tables). The cashier saw us and told us not to sit there and to sit at a two person table because other people were coming. And NOT asking us nicely or asking at all. It was«sit over there! We’re saving this table.» So we sat there. We had a late lunch, around 1:15pm. So the tables were emptying and no one else was coming in to eat. By the time we left, there were more than 10 empty tables. We could have sat at a bigger table and been comfortable. Instead we were crammed into this tiny table in the back of the restaurant. I’m not sure if the waitress was new here, but she didn’t know the answers to any of our questions. She was nice and found someone who knew the answers though. Disappointed that the thai tea is not freshly brewed from tea leaves, it comes from a packet. Not okay for a thai restaurant. We both ordered Pad see ewe. One with chicken and one with duck. The noodles were terrible. They were dried out, stale, stiff and old. The sauce was not correct. Overall the dish was not flavorful either. The duck was good tasting like regular Asian style roasted duck. But it was overpowering the taste of the noodles. I tried my husbands dish with chicken and realized the sauce was just not right. The place looked pretty dingy and dirty. On top of the food not tasting authentic or good. So sad to say we will never come here again.

The food and service was excellent. I had the massaman curry which was incredible. I ordered it at a 2.5 spice level which was just about right. I will go back again.

I have to knock this down based on my last experience. The food was INSANELY spicy. Instead of correcting it, the waitress just said«I know!!! She’s cooking hot today!» Umm. Shouldn’t there be some consistency to patrons aren’t miserable?(And don’t get me wrong, I love spicy but this was too much.)

Great Pad Kee Mao(drunken noodle)! Their spice levels can be a bit liberal, so be cautious. Portions are huge! I usually place a to go order and pick it up. I dined here once and noticed so many repeat customers. The owner is very friendly, so I can see why customers return here often. Only complaint is the food can be somewhat greasy, but I haven’t noticed it every single time.

Soooo this place is dangerously close to my school! And they do carry out! My favorite thing to get here is the pad thai. They give heaping portions that can last you another 1 – 2 meals and the flavor is great. They do not hold back on the spice, so be careful when pondering what spice level you should order. The service is great — one time I accidentally ordered carry out to the other location and was extremely embarrassed but they were really forgiving about it and made my order right away. They are a little pricier than some other thai restaurants, but considering how many leftovers you can get out of one order, I am ok with paying a little more. You have to try out this place and give them some love! They have definitely helped me out during many prolonged study sessions at the library, so I am just paying it forward.

I really struggled with whether to give 3 or 4 stars! Happy bowl is great for takeout! they do have a $ 20 delivery minimum, which sucks when you order for one person. I had the spring rolls which had no protein, it was literally like a bag of salad mix in rice paper which I was put off by. the beef and meatball soup is tasty but a little sweet for my tastes. there was no beef but the meatball was excellent. the pad see ewe is what really made my order. so delicious. I ordered with beef, and it was awesome.

So don’t let Mama Tiki know I cheated on her… I have been making a effort to explore this area of Arlington Heights. I already frequent A&H donuts, Le Cep just opened and Righteous Foods, so maybe this area will get more traffic? I hope so. It’s awesome to have a thai place this close to my home that delivers. The plaza it’s in is run down, but don’t let that dispel you! I came in on a Saturday night to get a carry out order because I didn’t know about the free delivery in 76107 if your purchase is over 20 $. We ordered 2 bowls of tom kha with chicken, because according to the girl who took my order they are small. Well, they aren’t. One bowl was enough to share with leftovers! I also ordered the massaman curry and pad see ewe. Everything was ordered at spice level 3 and it was mild. I like hot. Not melt your face off hot, but I want some good heat and this barely had any. I will ask for extra ground chili powder to add myself. The ewe was delicious and the veggies still had a nice crunch. The curry had a good potato to chicken ratio and the cashews had been stewing for a while. Take out came to 46 $ with 2 soups and 2 entrees. Next time we know we can share a soup and they will deliver!

Happy Bowl, Happy Bowl, you make me happy with your bowls… of soup. And curry. We popped in on a Saturday afternoon for a very late lunch, like 3ish, so the restaurant was pretty empty. One medium sized room that’s cool, clean, and dimly lit with simple tables and chairs, plastic menus, and framed photos of Thai food on the walls. The menu covers all your Thai basics, and I’d say it’s a tad bit more expensive than a typical Thai place. We spent $ 7 on a small cup of Tom Kha soup to share, and then about $ 11-$ 12 for each of our curry entrees. I will say though that the Tom Kha was very good, but almost too rich. How can anyone eat the size large?! After a few bites I feel totally coconutted out. The Massaman curry with tofu was fantastic. I went with a 1 on the spice level after the waitress asked me if I was used to Thai spices with a serious warning in her eyes. I think I could have handled a 2 based on how mild my 1 was, but Adam ordered his curry at a 2 and it seemed extremely hot. I mean, Adam drank like 8 pitchers of water(although his sore throat was at fault). Either way, the food was delicious and we had plenty to take home as leftovers. Biiiiiig portions here. We ate the rest of ours the next day over rice noodles — you can easily get 2 decent meals out of 1 order. Our food came out super fast, which is great, but we barely had time to get into our soup before the entrees arrived. Our waitress was awesome, really knowledgable about the menu and on point when it came to drink refills(which we needed a lot of). Happy Bowl Thai doesn’t have the most stellar atmosphere or anything particularly distinctive going on, but the food is good and I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

I don’t eat here often, as Thai is not my favorite, but my friends all love this place and the food is really, really good, so when anyone suggests it, its a done deal. I usually order the pad pen on a 4, so it’s nice and spicy. The spicy always seems to be on target. They also offer Thai tea, my favorite. The best part about the restaurant is the family that runs it. Uwe and his folks are very nice and genuine people and they all work very hard. They are courteous, friendly and work hard to remember you and make you feel welcome.

It’s one of the better Thai restaurants in Fort Worth, I think it might be my favorite in Fort Worth; true, it might not say or mean much since there aren’t a whole lot of Thai restaurants in Funky Town to begin with, but Happy Bowl is still good on its own merits. This review is for Happy Bowl numero two.(I haven’t been to their numero one location in west Fort Worth). Taste-wise it’s a quality place; not much in the way of ambience, but the food is good and comes out quickly. I like their TOMKHA soup – very lemongrass-y and coconut-ty, a whole lot of taste and fragrance to the soup. I also like their curries(i’ve only tried the red and the green); they’re definitely not afraid to spice up their food and so if you’re sensitive to spiciness, a 1 or 2 level provides plenty enough kick. But yeah, the taste and portion are reasonable for what you pay. I’m a big fan of green curries since I like the taste of coconut and basil, and Happy Bowl makes a good one.

What a wonderful addition to the UNTHSC area. We are all very familiar with Happy Bowl but their second location is a lot cleaner and NEW of course. It’s not the best Thai food that we’ve ever had but the curries are good if you are just craving for some Thai curry. The way they made the Pad Thai was not to my liking. Very different from the Pad Thai I’m used to. I think they used way too much sauce.

Super new, so extra visits will be necessary for a lasting review. But first impressions were middle of the road. When I visited I was just placing an order to go. There were a couple of tables of diners eating and NO background music. It felt awkward and subdued. The inside is nothing fancy, but it’s pleasant and neat. I heard 1 table mention an appetizer they never received and was given the incorrect item once before the issue was straightened out. I looked over the menu while I was waiting and they have lunch specials. The prices honestly seemed at least 2 dollars more expensive than other thai places I frequent for lunch, but perhaps due to the lack of Thai options in FW, they can get away with that. They also noted that the specials included tea, not sure if you can sub a soda. I had a 25 minute drive back home before I could dig into my pad thai, but I found my dish dry. It didn’t have any hints of spice to it either, although I ordered it at medium. I’ll definitely have to give this place an in house dining experience. All employees I interacted with were friendly and seemed eager to help.
