It wasn’t that I was expecting. There’s no season in the meat. You should consider other option for hamburger

Quick read: I enjoyed this traditional burger, but found that it did not live up to its hype. Bring your grandma here for a burger that she’ll recognize from her youth. After hearing much about the historic Kincaid’s burger, I visited both the original location and this one during two recent work lunches. The burger is skillet-fried and hits the nail on the head for a classic burger experience, a little greasy in a good way, with a very traditional bun. The crinkle-cut fries were good. The old sun-stained cans of random vegetables on the shelves are quaint. The long rows of picnic-table seats are uncomfortable. But here’s the thing: If you’re a foodie, this place is boring. Everything is safe — nothing too bold, nothing too spicy, no fun or interesting ingredients, just a regular burger. To no surprise, the average age of the patrons in the restaurant was ~60 yrs old at each location. This must remind those folks of a simpler time before gouda this and chipotle that and ghost pepper this and Sriracha that. In all, I have to say it was good, but I’m just not excited about coming back.

(FWIW, we’ve also been to the one on Camp Bowie and didn’t think it was great — but we just got regular cheeseburgers.) At THIS Kincaids, we’ve been there twice, got the same specialty burgers both times, great both times. Friendly service both times too. Cowtown burger — A+++++++. Grilled onions, grilled jalapenos, crispy smoked bacon, pimento cheese(personally, I’d delete the mayo, but I’m not a mayo fan in general). DH got another specialty burger — BBQ sauce, cheese, pickle, topped with onion rings(!). And deviled eggs. All delicious. Excellent beef quality which I think is what makes the difference. Onion rings — absolutely perfect. Good-sized rings with a super-crispy breading — but you can easily bite through the rings every time, which I really like. I hate onion rings that you can’t bite through, where the onion just pulls out of the breading by itself and hangs down your chin. Yech. These are NOT like that! Fries — whatever. They’re OK, but not special. They just seem like frozen crinkle-cut fries you could get at the grocery store. We won’t get them again.

Kincaid’s is a Fort Worth institution and has been in Ft. Worth for decades. I’ve eaten at the original Camp Bowie location several time but had never tried one of the«satellite» restaurants. The burger was everything you’d hope for in a «homemade» burger. My burger tasted just like one i’d cook at home in a cast iron skillet. It was messy and a bit greasy just like a good burger should be. The crinkle cut French fries was cooked to perfection. Service was very friendly, i’ll definitely be back for another burger again reay soon.

Not even comparable to the Camp Bowie location. Service was terrible, burgers were over cooked.

I’ve known about Kincaid’s for awhile now, especially the original location on Camp Bowie, but today was my first time eating there and it did NOT disappoint. I had the cowtown burger with grilled onions and jalapeños while my wife had a classic cheeseburger. Both were great. Staff was friendly, food took some time but there were a lot of people there. Really enjoyed the older style atmosphere. Besides the flat screen tvs it looks like a place you’d expect to eat at in the 50s. Even had some canned groceries for purchase. All in all its a pretty straight forward place that is known for its burgers and shakes. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good burger. Fresh ingredients and friendly service. Delicious!

This place can do some cleaning and I spend like 30 dollars here and wondering HOW!!! The burgers are rock hard and ridiculously small. the fries were extra and the drinks were to. IF you do somehow have the stunt of coming back here, well GOODLUCK and get just the burger… JUSTBURGER!!! Expensive and overated and flat out ridiculously lying reviews from sites like zagat, yeah right, they can’t tell the difference between a freaking gourmet platter and a mcdonalds meal, there trash stink less than the food itself.

This area has 5 burger chains including Kincaid’s within a block from each other(5 Guys, Red Robin, Fuddruckers, and In & Out). If I ever want a simple no frills burger I go here! Kincaid’s is a pretty simple place. Nothing fancy about it. You order your food and sit down at the a picnic bench type table. They call your name and give you your order in a bag regardless of eating in or taking out. Kincaid’s has been around for awhile and you can tell it hasn’t changed much. It used to be a Grocery store back in the 40s. Their meat is fresh and hormone free. They have a regular size burger and a jr burger. A Jr is enough for me! They also have hot dogs, sandwiches, floats, and shakes. The burger is decent. I like to order it cowtown style with onions and jalapenos. I wish they would expand on their cheese since I’m not a fan of American or Cheddar, but it’s all good. I really like their crinkle cut fries and curly fries.

Righteous burgers. The onion rings are crispy and delicious. One order of fries will definitely feed two people.

Meh. Good was ok. The service was not good. Hate being talked to like I am moron by a teenager making minimum wage. Won’t return due to the staff.

Great burgers and onion rings. Fries are a bit limp but still pretty tasty. The junior burger is perfectly sized because the fries and onion ring orders are large. When you go get a vanilla shake.

The burger was good but the french fries could use little bit of help. I love that Kincaid’s has been around for so long, but the place needs a visual update. The tablecloths were old and torn, the floor was so old that you can see marks all over, and lighting was simply outdated. One more thing, the prices were outrageous. Just because they have so many awards doesn’t mean they should sell an overpriced burger.

I’m a big fan of their junior burgers — it’s the perfect size for me! And I have a tiny place in my heart for crinkle fries. It takes me back to my grade school days! Many new burger spots — they focus on the size of the burger, the size of the patty and making the burger«gourmet». Sometimes, I just want a simple bacon cheeseburger — Cowtown Style. Can I get a «hell yeah?»

The best burger in Fort Worth? This is a hot debate among my friends. Some swear by Fred’s, some swear by Rodeo Goat, but my favorite BYFAR is Kinkaids. The original location on Camp Bowie has been around since 1946. They embrace their nostalgia with rows of canned goods(the original was a grocery store) and paint everything the retro pea green color. The bacon burger is the best item on the menu. The bacon is crispy and thick. The meat is perfectly seasoned. The burger needs two hands to eat. If you want a real taste of Fort Worth, give this place a try! .

The burger I had was markedly bigger than any other joint nearby. If you dont agree, then perhaps you should make a side by side comparison. Very juicy, homestyle patty. No, this was not an excess of grease, though there was a slight amount, which is to be expected from how its prepared. I had no issues with the bun becoming wet or falling apart. Stop chit-chatting or otherwise screwing around for 10 minutes after you get your burger and eat it. There, I just solved the soggy bun issue for any establishment serving a sandwich. Youre welcome. I do agree there was a lack of seasoning, but personally, I dont require a ridiculous amount of salt(or anything else) on my food for me to enjoy it. The heaping amount of toppings provided a nice bit of extra flavor. If I was eating a dry burger patty, then yes, the issue would stand out more for me. The only real complaint was the price. I do agree its slightly elevated for what you receive. That said, I enjoyed this burger more than something, from say, Five Guys. Better than a fast food burger, but indeed, I dont think this place is meant to be in that same category. I think its somewhat unfair to compare this place to a gourmet or niche burger joint, because thats not what they do here. There are no foo-foo, off-the-wall toppings or patties carved from some exotic breed of cattle grazing free in montana. Basically, a burger someones grandma would whip up in the kitchen, which is nice if you like that kinda thing.

Burgers aren’t even allowed to be burgers anymore. They must now change your life. Your $ 7+ patty and bun must over-deliver on every aspect of their own hype. Granted, I’ve had a few cathartic moments with burgers at places like Lawrence, Kansas’ Burger Stand. After a black and blue burger I swore I saw Jesus… or maybe that was just a dude that plays bongos on Mass Street in Lawrence. Anywho… When my friend proposed a visit for this out-of-towner at Kincaid’s, she did very well in my eyes to NOT insinuate the burger might give me stigmata. Now that’s not a dig at their burgers as being un-heavenly, but more of a declaration that Kincaid’s is more of an authentic hamburger place and less of a religious experience. And that’s a good thing in this case. They know their lane and they stay in it(I learned THAT from Oprah!). My burger did exactly what a good burger is supposed to do… and I loved every bite of it. It was big, juicy, and smothered in grilled onions and jalapenos. It’s exactly the type of burger that fulfills the«juicy burger» archetype. And if you’re having an episode where you crave a burger this is exactly the type of burger that satisfies. The décor at Kincaid’s is no frills with quotations of the restaurant’s original grocer locale. Kincaid’s set-up will be very familiar to you if you’re a friend of Five Guys, but a little more quirky and a lot less sterile. There’s certainly a place in the world for bourgie burgers– no denying that. I see a reason why many want a locally sourced burger dressed by some James Beard reject. But there’s still something meaningful to be said for the sustenance of the real hamburger purveyor. And I think Kincaid’s does hamburgers just about as well as anywhere. So next time I’m in Fort Worth I’ll ask to hold the apple chutney and garlic aioli… and instead fire up a Kincaid’s cheeseburger with grilled onions and jalapenos.
