Great breakfast tacos and barabacoa. I’m sure everything else is great but that’s all I’ve tried.

Back this morning for hangover cure. Weirdly different experience then the half dozen times I’ve been by here. Both sauces were extremely hot and waaayyy too much chorizo… and tho I ordered two with beans and cheese, when I got home there was a teaspoon… TEASPOON of beans in the two burritos. Kind of a bummer due to such inconsistency/but based one past experiences… I SHALLRETURN!

This place is legit. The prices are friendly and the tacos are amazing. I also recommend the tortas.

It was just okay. We get far better Al Pastor tacos back home in Washington. I also didn’t feel like these were up to par with what I normally expect from tacos in Texas. Decent, but not mind blowing as some other reviewers would lead you to believe.

Good food at dirt cheap prices. There’s not much else to say about this place that hasn’t been said. Bring cash and your appetite and you won’t be disappointed.

Had some breakfast burritos. They’re about medium sized so two will get the job done, maybe three if you’re starving. Overall good quality Mex food. Don’t forget to have a Mexican Coke too. Lastly, cash only.

What a great place! Convenient to home, open most all the time, and wonderful soft tacos. Five of us went there last night and honestly, have virtually no idea what we ate. I had the beef taco plate(three tacos, rice, beans, and guacamole). My wife had two tacos but she was not sure of which ones. We think the very best ones were the beef carnitas, but are going to have to go back and just order single tacos until we taste the all separately and hit the«sweet spot.» I know it sounds crazy, but the lady that works there speaks little English and we speak little Spanish, so a minor communication problem. She was very nice, however, and we just ordered something she would recommend. We sat at one of the picnic tables in the enclosed area next to the order window. As other Unilocalers have said, no atmosphere here, but who cares? It was still fun watching the other people come and go – most of the other customers were for take out. When we return, we’ll try and nail down a better explanation of which tacos are the best, but for now, it’s all pretty good, some is just a bit better.

I love this place! Their breakfasts are amazing and their tortas are fabulous too :) I have had their chorizo, barbacoa and carne asada and haven’t been disappointed yet. The cash only gets me occasionally because I don’t always carry it… But it’s worth a stop at the atm for sure.

2 stars for the chicken and carnitas 3 stars for the Al pastor tacos These tacos are authentic in terms of flavor, but the meats were a little too dry. There was a steady stream of really nice patrons lining up to get lunch, so that’s a good sign. I didn’t really like the flavor of the chicken or the carnitas, but the Al pastor were fairly yummy. I wish I had only gotten Al pastor instead of the others. Oh well, live and learn. And as others have said: cash only.

Give it a try but bring cash. It’s cash only. Got the Al Pastor taco, carnitas taco, barbacoa taco, and a bisteck gordita. $ 1.95 per taco and $ 2.75 for the gordita. The good: Favorites are the barbacoa, bisteck, and al pastor(in that order). All good, but that’s my opinion. Salsa is good, but pretty spicy. Tacos all had decent amount of meat so the price for tacos was definitely worth it. The bad: Carnitas was pretty dry and lacked flavor. Gordita wasn’t exactly what i expected. Not sure if it was authentic, but I’d stick with the tacos. Better meat: toppings:tortilla ratio. Definitely coming back to try everything else!

Their breakfast tacos are pretty damn good! It’s a mom and pops for sure and that is what adds to the charm of this place. I usually get a few bacon, egg, and jalapeño tacos and they never disappoint. I really haven’t tried their other stuff because most of the time I stop by after watching some MotoGP in the AM. If you haven’t tried it then you should give it a try for sure…

3.5 Don’t really get the hype around it. I’m used to $ 1.50 for a taco so for almost $ 2 I’d like a little flavor. There is a tad bit more meat than your standard taco, but disappointing in seasonings. Maybe the breakfast tacos are better, but I’ve definitely had better tacos. Salsa was so disappointing, green was hotter than the red. Red was bland and slightly watery tasting. Got the carnitas and barbacoa tacos — beautifully presented but seriously lacking in seasoning. Barbacoa was pretty good out of the two, carnitas was very dry. Might try this play during regular lunch hour — came here around 3pm for a late lunch.

Definitely a hole in the wall place, but don’t count them out! Their tacos are better than the food truck parks here in FTW… cheaper, tastier, and made to-go very quickly!

It doesn’t look like much from the outside but omg they have the best milanesa torta I’ve had here in FW. They never disappoint.

As far as authentic Mexican food goes, it doesn’t get much more authentic than a little shop like this. The menu is painted on the walls outside. There is only one picnic table outside. And of course, they only take cash. I was a bit disappointed about that, seeing as how it’s 2015 and you can take credit cards using your phone. Nonetheless, my second attempt to try this place was a success. The carnita tacos were juicy and the tortillas held up to that quite nicely. The rice and beans were good, but nothing I would rave over. That could be because I compare them to my mom’s. Places like this are all over the metroplex. You just have to know where to look. I recently moved to SW Fort Worth, so I was glad to find this one.

I have been stopping at this place for years and have to give them kudos. My go to is the carnitas tacos that have never disappointed. The meat is tender and juicy and very flavorful. My husband usually gets the beef burrito which is also great. The two sauces that come with the order are red and green and can be a bit spicy but worth the burn. They only take cash so beware. It looks like a run down house but don’t be fooled! I have seen suits and ties and well as construction workers lining up for this great food. Prices reasonable and people are friendly. Truly a hidden gem.

This place is super addictive. After trying it for lunch on Monday, somehow I found myself there again for lunch on Tuesday. I had their famous chorizo and egg breakfast burrito and bisteck(beef) torta… well, half of the torta since it was rather large. The torta came with this delicious red sauce and green sauce. My personal favorite is the red sauce since I love spicy food and I realized that just smothering anything with that sauce makes it taste good. The perfect mixture of lettuce, tomato, avocado, jalapeño and the beef in the torta makes my mouth water again just thinking about it. Their chorizo and egg breakfast burrito was good but maybe too much eggs and too little chorizo for me. I tried their chicken burrito and beef flour taco on Tuesday and still prefer the beef over the chicken. This place is definitely better as a to-go place in the summer heat since there are only a few outside tables. I definitely will come back for another early breakfast or even dinner since it is open for 6am to 10pm.

I love Unilocal. When you don’t know where to go for authentic quickie Mex food, Unilocal will help you find the way. I visited Melis because I wanted something different for lunch. I was lucky to have cash on me, otherwise I would have missed out on a really yummy lunch. So don’t forget to bring cash! I love humble places like Melis. Barebones, tiny building with a sliding window, three picnic tables to dine on, and a simple menu. You can choose to order tacos, a burrito, or a torta, but the long list of meats allows some variety. A beef milaneza torta was calling my name, so that’s what I chose. It came topped with lettuce, tomato, beans, avocado, pickled jalapeño, and mayo(which I sans-ed!). Rice and beans, which is a very small portion of each, are $.99 apiece. I wish they’d been bigger, but what can ya do? They also don’t sell horchata, but still hold their own without any of the usual authentic drinks. All in all I was glad to have reconciled with an old childhood friend(the humble torta) and to have discovered another yummy lunch spot close to work! Thanks Melis!

First off, CASHONLY and tacos are $ 1.75 each now. Gotta love out of the way places. The funny thing, is that this place is not that far off of I-30, but unless you know it’s there, you’d never know it’s there. Clapboard, particle board scrap metal and faded painted signs let you know that Melis has been around for quite some time. I call it character. I love the menu, just all types of meat on a faded painted sign. I had so many choice between various beef, pork and chicken options. I’m sure all are good. I got barbacoa, chorizo and lengua tacos on corn tortillas and a side of rice and beans. As all street tacos around here, they come with onions and cilantro and a wedge of lime. The chorizo one had tomatoes as well and was actually my favorite of the three. I got the accustomary red and green salsas with the tacos. Both were great. The green was actually hotter. As for the rice and beans… wow, the refried beans were CREAMY. So good. I don’t know, I keep finding more and more taco places. Not sure when I will have the chance to revisit them. They are all inexpensive and all really good. I really haven’t had to many bad tacos around here. They all have different varients to them and I’ve liked them all. I guess I will keep hunting them down. In Texas, there’s no end in sight. Enjoy.

AWESOME! Just a tiny little place with a few benches outside, but the food is well worth the not-so-glamorous exterior! Doesn’t the best food come from these small, tucked away places anyways?! The Chorizo and Egg taco was THEBEST! They are smaller tacos so you could probably order a couple different kinds or just try them all! The Carnitas Burrito was also very good-large portion and totally reasonable prices for everything! If we were in town for a little longer I would have definitely returned!
