I have always loved this place but this was a horrible experience with food. It was literally inedible. I had the catfish basket which I have had several times before with fried okra. Both came extremely oily. My okra was actually sitting in a bowl with a puddle of oil in the bottom. I tried to degrease the catfish on a paper towel. When I finally tried to eat it, it was the muddiest catfish I had ever been served. So disappointed :(. I guess every place has a bad day but it will keep me from coming back.

I travel all over and love to stop for BBQ when ever and where ever I can. The atmosphere and the service was great. My waitress, Sonya, did a great job. The food itself is average. I had the smoked sausage plate, pinto beans, Cole slaw and mac&cheese. All was just Ok. The BBQ sauce is not to my taste. Way to sweet and made with some kinda fruit I guess(peach maybe). The sauce was the worst part of the meal. Thank goodness it’s served on the side and not all over the BBQ.

The best part of this place is the service. Better than the food, sadly. The«Texas toast» was two triangles of what seemed like Wonder bread, lackadaisically exposed to toasting. The«giant slice of onion» was a handful of onion shreds. The«Polish pickle» was just any old pickle. I ordered red beans as a side and they came out with no flavor whatsoever. Who forgets to add spice to an entire batch of beans? I got the potato salad as a sub and that was somewhat better. I was avoiding writing about the meat. The meat is weak. I got all you can eat ribs, being hungry off my flight. The meat had to be forcibly ripped from the bone. It managed to be relatively flavorless on the inside but charred on the outside. Once smothered in BBQ sauce, it was good enough. The sweet tea is what it is, though I appreciated the continued flow of «light ice» that many places forget after the first refill. Not sure why, but I went for dessert, and that actually helped the rating a little bit. The pecan pie was done with chopped pecans, not sliced, but it was a nice-sized portion and tasted good. At least the night finished on a good note. But I don’t see myself going back to any Riscky’s location.

We come to this location and prefer it over the downtown or stockyards location because we always get great service. Except today. It took us 45 minutes to get seated even though the restaurant was not full at all. When we were finally sat, our drink order was taken then we say for 30 minutes without drinks. After we got our drinks we sat another 20 for our food. We were told by our server that we couldn’t get hot barbecue sauce because they were too busy. As I look around an empty restaurant I’m frustrated that she kept a saying she was busy but look at the restaurant. She also showed her frustration and kept blaming the kitchen for our things not being delivered although every server is responsible for their own table. When we asked about my grandmas coleslaw that they failed to deliver, she responded with an eye roll and a loud«ugh!!» We will continue to come here. But this night was just beyond terrible.

I arrived at this location wanting to celebrate my birthday with my family and we were very rudely told there was not space for our party of 11. I would have been fine with the response if it had been given with a little less attitude and eye rolling from the rude hostess, especially since we did not make a reservation. I have been a customer of Risky’s for decades, I would never choose this location again. Black Eyed Pea had no difficulty making us feel welcomed!

Usually I have no issue with Risky’s. We went for dinner. My wife got a 3 meat plate to share with my daughter. One of the meats was the BBQ shrimp. During dinner my wife bit into the shrimp. She then asked me to taste it because it did not seem right. I smelled the shrimp and if was fishy. I took a bite and immediately knew the shrimp was bad. I told the waitress. She left for a while then came back and asked for the plate. After another ling wait, she came back and said that they would adjust it. When we got the bill the took off $ 1.00 for the shrimp that were left instead of charging us for a 2 meat plate. In top of that they must have thrown away the left over brisket in her plate because we never saw it again. Whoever the manager is that made that call should be embarrassed.

Nice waitresses, delicious BBQ sandwich with hot fries for a late dinner tonight! I’m so glad we stopped. Next time we want the fall apart ribs for $ 12!

This used to be a great restaurant to eat at, atmosphere was nice and the food was great, the service USEDTOBE great. We decided to dine at Riscky’s this evening since our past few visit were great! This evening our server(Taylor)was absolutely horrible and very unwelcoming. She was rude and not very personable. She never checked on us to see if there was anything we needed, no two occasions we had to ask other servers for help. I would hope this was just a bad nite for everyone involved and might reconsider eating there again after this. Hopefully the tip she got will make her reconsider the attitude she puts off and the service she’s delivers.

Definitely the place for barbecue in Ft Worth. Great place with authentic Texas décor that reminds you of the great town that you’re in. The facility does have areas for a more private gathering if you’re doing a power lunch. I ordered sliced brisket with onions. That’s it. It’s simply that good here. I don’t need anything else. Perfect smoke ring on the brisket. I’ve never seen a prettier pink. Outside is a smokey mesquite salty layer of «You just ate heaven!» Seriously the BESTBRISKET in Ft Worth. The server Juan was spot on, friendly and very attentive to my needs. Trying to give out of towners that Cow Town feel? Look no further.

Very disappointed ate here for lunch had a steak salad. Have on Tuesday’s for many years at the sale price 7.99 well today the manager tried charging 12.99 for the salad. He had the nerve to say that they never sale the steak salad for 7.99. So he basically called me a liar. Very disappointed and will not come back.

The beef ribs were good. One got a little to close to the fire but overall I would order them again. The reason for the low rating was the service. Little things like no pickle in the basket. Asked for one but never got it. One onion slice, tiny jalapeño. If you aren’t going to put items out for patrons to serve themselves then have competent servers. Second reason for for low rating was related to our waitress unavailability during our meal. I would have liked to have had my tea refilled, maybe another rib or 2 but she was not around. My wife’s Brisket was tender, onion strings were a little greasy but we ate then. With all the options on camp bowie, I expected better service.

Very good food, I love it. I have been eating it since I was a kid, and that’s some years, but I have noticed a continuous rise in prices over the last 3 years. They are too proud of themselves and charge too much for the food. Don’t get me wrong, the food is awesome. It’s just getting too high. I’m thinking about just buying the sauce and going to Cousins from now on. They are MUCH cheaper.

I visited Riscky’s Barbeque for a friends birthday party. We had a very large group but our waitress Alexis handled the crowed like the pro she was. There is no joke when they say that the platers are big! I was unable to finish my amazing pork ribs, potato salad, slaw and beans! The atmosphere is great at this spot and there is lots of room for tons of visitors. Prices are very reasonable. I would hit this Barbeque pit up again!

diamond in the rough! Dined on a Tuesday night for dinner while on business. Property: The exterior is newly painted, but gives the vibe of a dive. Inside was spectacular, with a rustic atmosphere which includes beams made from tree trunks, huge wagon wheels, and some local memorabilia. Seating is ample and offers booths, tables, and hightops in the bar area. Food: The menu is chocked full of bbq favorites, but the all you can eat smoked beef ribs for $ 13 was to attractive to pass up. The ribs cane 2 rolling out quick and were generally fall of the bone tender with limited fat. There were a few bones that were tough and a few that had loads of fat, but generally they were great. The ribs have a savory rub, with a sweet house bbq sauce served on the side. The sauce was to sweet for me, but the rub was great! Service: Dined in the bar area. Our waitress was a powder keg of energy in a micro sized package. She was great! Even though she was the only bartender and our waitress, we never had to wait on anything. The beers were cold and perfectly poured. Our endless ribs kept coming. She was very entertaining and made us want to stay longer and visit. Excellent!

Two stars because it’s not bad enough for one star but not good enough to go back. Food is sub-par and service is slow. But they do keep the restaurant clean. And there’s a cigarette vending machine. So there’s that.

It’s not fair for me to review a BBQ place, especially when I live in and have been conditioned for Austin BBQ, and expect Lockhart quality. That being said… Riscky’s was a decent BBQ restaurant, it had a lot of fun things on the ceiling and walls(think of a Texan themed TGIFridays). We were seated immediately on a Saturday during lunch. Not many people here, but that could be due to the relative difficulty getting to this place from any direction other than NE on 377. I had the pulled pork which was fine, nothing too spectacular. The BBQ sauce was also standard and satisfied. I ordered fries, and they seemed to be strategically placed in a single layer on my basket plate. Maybe splurging and giving customers more than half a handful would help improve the experience overall. The service was great. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. I honestly don’t see myself coming back unless someone who had a better experience than I did is the driver, making me captive to give this place a second chance.

At one point in time I used to love Riscky’s. Did the excitement of a new state, new city, new places to eat wear off after 9 years of living here? No, the food at this location isn’t the same anymore. The one in the Stockyards is a lot better. My husband works down the street at a popular car dealership. When he was able to take hour lunches and leave work, we spent many of our lunch dates together at Riscky’s. Riscky’s was one of the first actual restaurants we ate at when we got on our feet besides Taco Cabana and Jack in the Crack. One of the things I still love from here is the the Texas Gobbler(turkey) and the Swiss oinker sandwich(ham). They used to have a steak salad that was pretty good. The beef ribs are a hit or miss. They are either really good or really burnt. The pork ribs usually come the same way. The BBQ sauce is also good. It’s so good on the french fries! The mac and cheese used to be good, but now it is more like a soup. Their wedge salad that is delicious. If I ever eat at Riscky’s, it will probably be at the location in the Stockyards.

We’ve been to Riscky’s on the West Side numerous times as it’s close to our home. I find the BBQ is consistently good and not over-smoked. They manage a good taste even though they don’t appear to rub the meat prior to cooking. My favorites are the pork ribs and sliced beef. The chopped beef comes mixed with BBQ sauce, not the way I prefer, and was told in the future to order sliced beef(well chopped) with the sauce on the side — interesting! Even my wife, who is not a big fan of commercial BBQ, likes Riscky’s as they have numerous salads that are exceptional. Her favorite is the grilled chicken salad which comes with just about everything on it, and is a meal in itself. For ease of access, good quality, lots of choices, and fair prices, Riscky’s BBQ has it all covered.

Good small-chain bbq fare. Always reliable if not exceptional. And that in itself is a good thing. Hey, McD’s has served billions on that formula. You know what you are going to get and that is sometimes not the case with one-off places. They can be hit or miss depending on who is doing the cooking… The ½ chicken had good flavor but was a tad dry. Not like a desert or anything, just enough so you notice, and after all, this is a critique, right? My wife’s brisket tacos we excellent and I would probably give them a try next time around. I think of Risky’s more of a lunch place, and that was when I visited, but that’s just me. Good place for small groups and kids.
