Authentic and tastes great. Place is fairly clean and large inside considering it is a hole in the wall. From what I hear it is family owned and operated. I also hear they grind their corn from scratch to make their corn tortillas and chips and they have some foods from Salvador — which is why we came. They had some Mexican karaōke going on. At first I was annoyed, but then I forgot about it and felt like I was back in Cancun for the evening since I was the only white guy in the joint. The chips were on the thicker side, but surprisingly light and had a great flavor. 5⁄5 Chips and salsa was good, for me needed a pinch of salt. 4.95÷5 Carnitas was juicy and nicely browned on the outside. With their awesome corn tortillas it was a great dish. 5⁄5 Carne Asada was good, but I like thinner meat. Some of it was hard to chew. 3.75÷5 Pupusas were amazing little cheese pancakes. Outside was just slightly crisp for being freshly cooked and the inside was soft and filled with cheese yummm. Need more of those. 5⁄5 Enchiladas(queso) were pretty good. 4⁄5 The rice and beans were the usual and really good. Service was great with a smile. Sometimes a little slow, but with two waitresses and about 16 tables I was still quite comfortable. 5⁄5 I will be back and will try to hit more food from Salvador as well as some other dishes that piqued my interest. BTW, the name has changed to Dona Carmen El Potosino. It is right behind the new CVS at the corner of Seminary and Hemphill.

Muy autentica. Tacos, burritos, gorditas, tortas, etc with carne asada, barbacoa, pollo, and everything you’d expect out of true Mexican food. Locally owned and worth the visit. Great chips and salsa.
