Holy Cow! Moooo! Literally, this is probably where the cattle got lost! Anyways, there’s no real address for this place, but based on how I got there; it’s the only way – –Take Hwy 87 North towards Fort McDowell Casino — past casino –Turn right on FR143(aka Forest Road 143) — well marked about 8 – 10 miles from casino –FR143 is a dirt road — Recommended 4×4, but a regular sport utility, unless you plan on going during wet season, then 4×4 is a must! This is a long treacherous 20 mile drive so be prepared! –Turn sharp right once you hit a «T» shaped cattle guard called Mazatzal Divide or FR648 –Continue to Line Pine Trailhead parking –There Fours Peaks and Brown’s Trail is well marked. You want to take Brown’s Trail to the peak to go climbing. This is the best direction I can do, but you can check out other websites for directions. I used The Four Peaks or Brown’s Trail is located in the Tonto National Forest. This place is awesome for camping too! However, I went for the hiking and climbing. The hike itself is very easy. It’s about a good 2 miles hike to the peak. Bring your cameras cause it’s beautiful and you’ll definitely want to chill out for some nature pics. Once you get to the base of the peak it’s quite daunting. Looking up it’s like«wow», but once you start your ascend you’re like«what did I get myself into»! The climb is tough and treacherous like the drive. It’s April and during my climb I still see snow! It’s cold and windy; snow is melting and mud is coming down the mountain side. Loose rocks the size of baseballs and footballs tumble down as climber’s inch forward, so my advice is don’t follow anyone or be careful of people moving down! Remember if you don’t feel comfortable going up, then most likely going down is worst! Needless to say, once you get to the top it’s amazing! You will not regret making this climb. Totally awesome and totally worth the burn, the fear, and the stories and pictures you’ll have once you’re done! — Enjoy!
