I moved into Fountain Hills less than a year ago from the east coast. I knew nothing about desert plants so I was totally reliant on the expertise of Verde Valley Nurseries. They did not disappoint. All the desert plant I bought from them are thriving. They are very helpful and service is excellent!

I needed my palm trees trimmed and e-mailed this company for pricing. They sent an email immediately saying they would trim my palm trees and never responsed to the reply email. I called them and set up an appointment. They agreed on a date, but not a time. I called on the scheduled date my palms would be trimmed and was told they would be at my house later that evening. I waited at home all day on one of my only days off to no avail. They never showed up and never returned my calls. Poor way to run a business. I needed more than my palm trees trimmed and was going to «redo» my whole backyard with landscaping from this company but will be taking my business elsewhere. This business gets ZERO stars from me.

Ron & Peggy D We are new to the Fountain Hills area and our patio area needed work. We visited Verde Valley Nursery and was warmly welcomed by Lulu. Sam came out to give us an estimate. We loved his ideas. His team of workers were prompt and did a wonderful job. Sam came out numerous times to inspect. We are very happy with the finished project. As a side note just visiting the nursery is a treat to see all the beautiful plants and garden accessories. Thanks Lulu & Sam.

I have been going to nurseries for many years, and never have I received the service I receive from LuLu and Sam. In addition, Laura, Robin and Sandra have been amazing. It’s so refreshing to be able to ask any of them a question, and instead of them reading the plant insert, which I can easily do, they actually can give particulars of how a plant will react depending on the environment along with the ease in raising the plant. They go out of their way to make customers in general feel special, and they are there to help. I recently purchased a kumquat tree from them which they had to special order. The quality of the tree is outstanding. LuLu then potted it in one of the amazingly beautiful pots they have, and I can’t tell you how much pleasure it provides when I am looking out my patio door. She then went on to do a cactus planting in a clay turtle, and it is so cute. It is so refreshing to have such delightful owners in Fountain Hills. Sam and LuLu definitely had their hands full after the previous owner left who was fairly good at alienating his customers. Thanks to them and their dedicated crew it is now a pleasure to just stop by and say hello. Anyone shopping for plants will do themselves a favor shopping at Verde Valley — an asset to Fountain Hills!

Have purchased various plants, trees etc. in the past from Verde nursery, no problems. Recently bought some herbs and pepper plants. We had a unseasonable hot couple days and the lagano pepper and dill got fried, OK I ate that. I went down and explained what happened not expecting a refund/replacement. I was told, that yes hot spell hurt but cut back plants and they would probably come back. They didn’t but I was OK with that scenario. I bought 2 more dill plants and made sure they were well monitored. Both dried out and died. I took them back hoping for replacement but«no refunds». I’m pretty much a green thumb and can grow most anything here. But I have no time for business that won’t back what they sell. They died within 4 days, following their and planting instructions. I bought a lagano at Walmart and its doing great. Still need some more herbs though. Also had just been there a few weeks ago to check out replacing 2 saguaros I lost in the storm. Not buying from Verde to be sure, if they can’t back a small item. Be sure to know replacement/refund they will do if you use them and get it in writing.

I cannot say enough good things about new owner Sam Mousa and his wife Lubna, who purchased the nursery from infamous former owner John in June of 2014. I am new to Fountain Hills and so glad that I did not buy into any of the previous bad Unilocal reviews, which were all related to how the former owner treated his customers. We contracted Verde Valley for a several thousand dollar backyard project and are extremely satisfied. This place is the real deal! All the staff are very friendly and knowledgable — pick Laura’s and Robin’s brain on desert plant life and be prepared to be blown away. Throughout our project we got sound advice and a tremendous amount of detail was paid to selecting the right specimens that we loved for the right part of the yard based on Sun exposure. All plants are guaranteed for 6 months. It was very clear that Sam wanted to us to be happy not only now, but 5 years from now. Sam and company have increased inventory on hand and have an amazing selection of cacti, trees and plants. Tons of investment being made in equipment, the aesthetics of the business and personnel. So glad to have their expertise local in Fountain Hills. I would use them again without hesitation and highly recommend you check them out. We will be using them for quarterly maintenance too.

Yeah! UNDERNEWOWNERSHIP! A Lovely new couple have purchased the nursery! Sam and Lulu could not be nicer and more helpful! They re-landscaped our new home and Sam and LuLu took everything we wanted to heart and created an amazing front and backyard. I can wait for the next project with them! Knowledgable, kind, and attentive to every detail! Gave us exactly what we wanted. We made not only a great decision on a nursery and quarterly maintenance team! BUTGREATFRIENDS! Thank you Sam and LuLu! Welcome to Fountain Hills!

Verde Valley did a few thousand dollars in landscaping for us and did a decent job. At that time, John seemed very knowledgeable and nice. Some of the plants(one in ground and eight potted) died within a few weeks. At the time they were also doing a monthly maintenance at our property. After some major phone tag with john and finally delaying payment for our most recent monthly invoice by a week, his assistant called and left us a message threatening to send our latest invoice to collections. Nice. When we finally spoke to john he said he would replant the plants that had died and plant the one in ground with a different soil to give it a better chance of absorbing water and keeping some moisture around the plant. As for the potted plants that had also died, but that he had initially recommended, We replaced 5 of them ourselves and he said he would replace the other 3 and charge us the difference(if any) between what he was going to replace them with and what we had paid for those 3. After a few weeks his guys showed up and replaced the in ground plant, adjusted the drip, and left. Within 2 days the replacement was dead. Still no word on replacing the potted plants. I called john and he got nasty and barked at me as soon as I told him the replacement plant had already died… Told me he has them at his nursery and has planted them all over the valley and they’re all fine. Nothing he could do. But«nice» john was definitely gone. Then he asked me what I expected. I told him I wasn’t asking for him to replace it again, but that clearly the guys didn’t plant it in mulch or whatever he had suggested. I asked him about the 3 potted plants he agreed to replace and he said he would do it but charge me for the plants and labor. He denied ever agreeing to replace them and charge me just the difference in cost to him. The he barked some long lecture and ended with«listen ma’am — I don’t know what you expect. What do you want??» Clear by his aggressive tone he wasn’t prepared to do anything. I said«nothing». He said snarkily«goodbye then!» and hung up on me. I’m done with these guys. Nice as pie when they want your business but when that’s done there’s no backing up promises. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

Verde Valley pruned a palo verde tree for me a year ago and did an adequate job. I called and made an appointment to have their tree man, John, come to our home to give an estimate for pruning the tree again to prevent damage during the current Monsoon season. He missed the appointment this morning. His office called and made another appointment for this afternoon between 3 and 3:30. About 3:50 his office called to say he had been here. We were surprised because, since we were waiting in the house for him, he didn’t let us know he was here. I made the appointment because I wanted to discuss the specifics of thinning and pruning the tree, it has become quite heavy, has grown over the roof and has a huge canopy almost 50 ft in diameter. His office asked if I wanted to talk to him. I said yes, and heard his office assistant say«you have to talk to him». Apparently he thought it unnecessary. When he did pick up, he was unapologetic, said he didn’t need to talk to me in order to quote the job. I said I needed talk to him about the specifics. he asked me «well, what did you want to do?» Had he had the courtesy to see me when he drove by, I could have shown him, but certainly couldn’t describe which overlapping branches, etc, needed to be cut over the phone. It’s one of those«you had to be there» situations. He said He didn’t need any advice, he «was a professional», at which point I terminated the conversation.
