Danforth Art is a wonderful museum/school in downtown Framingham — a true gem for local residents interested in local art and for families looking to introduce their children to art(through the museum or through classes at the art school). My son took part in the school vacation workshops and Summer Arts at Danforth, and the classes are truly wonderful. This is not arts and crafts. Even the youngest students gain inspiration from classical artists and learn techniques not typically taught in summer camp or at school. He was only in kindergarten/1st grade, but he learned a lot from his teachers, who helped the class create real works of art. For working parents, they also have extended mornings and afternoons(for additional charge). The Danforth also offers FREE opportunities for families with young children, like Drop into Art and Free Fun Friday, where parents and kids can tour the galleries and take part in art activities in their art studios.

A great little museum tucked away out West. Visited here as part of Free Fun Fridays. What you should expect is well done pieces by LOCAL artists. This is what makes this museum so awesome! Check out the curatorial spotlights, like the work of John Provenzano.
