First time ever visiting a winery and it was awesome. As others said, from the outside it doesn’t look like much. When you walk in the employees greet you and you take a spot up at the bar. I’ve drank wine maybe twice in my life, I’m not much a drinker but it was my sisters bday and I knew she wanted to do a wine tasting sometime. I was amazed at how much I enjoyed it. We were given a list of all their wines and got to pick out 6 different wines to sample for $ 5. I actually enjoyed most of the ones I tried and even ended up buying a bottle of my favorite to take home. For a first timer visit, this is the place to try! And for $ 5 you cant beat it. You also are given a St. Julian wine glass to take home for that $ 5.00.

I recently learned that St. Julian is a family owned Winery and it is the oldest, largest and most awarded Winery in Michigan. It is still a mystery to me as to why my first visit here was just less than 2 weeks ago. Since had I decided to visit Frankenmuth and go to business that I’ve never been to before, St. Julian Winery made my list. I was sold by the pamphlet that reads«Join us for a free tour of our winery, and taste our Award Winning Wines and Spirits».(Unfortunately, I think that you can only tour at the Main Winery & Distillery in Paw Paw, MI). Nonetheless, I rounded up my Mom, BF and BFF and headed in to St. Julian for wine tasting. From the outside, the place is pretty unassuming so I was surprised by the size when we walked in. It wasn’t very busy — we were the only customers… is it in their defense if I admit that it was only about 1 p.m. Once I saw the sign that said«Wine Tasting $ 5», I headed straight to the bar — followed by my partners in crime. After a brief introduction with our lovely bartender we were given the sampling menus from which you choose your 6 samples. Just in case you haven’t done the math yet 6 oz of wine for $ 5 is a good deal. As to be expected there are many assorted wines to choose from and it pretty cool that most are locally produced. There are also a few brandys on the sampling menu. We stood at the bar(there are no seats), choosing, swapping and sipping samples, while enjoying good conversation and customer service with our bartender. Overall, I enjoyed the wines and brandys that were chosen and I had a good time. I wished that I had room in my carry-on for a few bottles; oh, but next visit I will be prepared!

This is a great tasting room. Very attentive and reasonably priced. We are acknowledged as soon as we enter and are served immediately. We have been here several times before with good experiences. With this last experience we decided to join their wine club.

Very good wine selection to try samples of! Try their grape vodka(not grape-flavored — made from grapes and gluten-free)!

We have a membership here and it’s definitely worth it! We always have fun going in to do tastings. If you decide to check it out try and get Jeremy to help you. He is super friendly and really knows his stuff. He always picks out the perfect wine for any special occasion I request.

St. Julian Winery is based in Paw Paw, Michigan. They are the oldest or one of the oldest winery in Michigan(as told by our wine expert). This winery revealed that I am a white wine enthusiast as opposed to red wines(which was pretty revealing for a Malbec aficionado). Wine tasting is definitely the best way to indulge and experience the different varieties and different styles of winemaking. St. Julian Winery upholds the tradition and also new innovations. I have picked a few favorites here: B. R. Traminette, B. R. Blanc de Blanc, Michigan Peach Wine, and Gunga Din Apple Cider. Their line of amazing libations are endless from wines, vodka, brandy and cider.

I didn’t expect this place to be as good as it was. Or as reasonably priced. We both did 6 tastings for $ 5 and got to take home a souvenir wine glass. The staff was very knowledgeable and happy to help us pick the perfect wines for us. Loved it.

St. Julians winery is always a good stop when you are in Frankenmuth. Their selection is vast– although similar to all Michigan red wines-the flavor is very immature. I would always recommend sticking to reds from other regions. I appreciate their white wine selection– good Rieslings(late harvest was my favorite), and some good blush wines. My husband and I tend to drink red in the fall and winter and on those warm summer nights, we like an ice cold refreshing white. It is all based on individual preference, so I recommend you swing in and check them out. I am not sure when, but they started to charge for their tastings… It is 6 samples for $ 5 and they give you a small glass. They tried talking us into their«club» for free tastings… but they pick them out for you and you pay shipping. I would rather pop up to Meijer or Holiday Market to pick out a bottle if we are in the mood for a St. Julian wine. If you go, check out the back side of the taste list– they now offer brandy, grape vodka and other fruit liquors. It isn’t expensive but it disappointing that people probably went in and didn’t purchase their wine… Us, on the other hand, walked out with a case and a half– Their bubbly $ 25 bottles of wine were on sale for $ 10! You never know when you will need to have some delicious Michigan wine on hand.

Great tasting room. 5 $ gets you 6 samples of anything. The more you drink, the more you talk, the looser the staffs lips get. They’ll tell you specials not advertised. I did manage to buy 6 tasty bottles of wine with 2 samples(with complimentary wine glasses) for under $ 60! They have a club that is Wine Club that is worth entertaining too! I’ll definitely go back :)

If you want Michigan made, very good prices and lots of samples(i think they limit you to six glasses) This is the place! I loved the atmosphere and the staff was really helpful! I went in to buy one bottle for a birthday gift, and walked out with 3! I was so surprised that the prices were considerably inexpensive! I will never buy wine from Mejiers again! Not with a place like this nearby! :)

This is the winery to visit while in Frankenmuth, MI. The staff is super friendly, they have a wide variety of great wines, there is no charge for tasting, and the selection is amazing. Do not waste your time with the«other» winery in town. You will enjoy this winery.
